For sale in our Chicago showroom is one sharp 1976 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am. The second generation Trans-Am is becoming quite the collectible, and now is your chance to get into a very nice example before they become out of reach. This car features the great color combination of silver metallic on the outside and a very deep red interior. It's hard to take a step back and not admire those slick long lines and the ever-popular Phoenix bird on the hood. Under that long silver hood is the original 400 Cubic Inch V8 that starts up very easily and just purrs at idle. While there are a lot of nice cars out there this beauty has traveled just 58,489 miles since new and it still feels like a tight and fresh car.

Mated to that 400 is the 3-speed automatic transmission that makes driving this car a true pleasure. The addition of power steering and power brakes also make for a comfortable drive whether it be on the highway or around town. The paint was refurbished around 8 years ago and still shines nice and save for a few blemishes has remained nice over the years. At the time of the paint restoration the car was undercoated and is very nice and solid. With one turn of the key you can be on the road with this slick silver bullet dicing through traffic or our on the open road.

Options include: Air-Conditioning, AM/FM Radio, CD Player, Seat Belts, Tilt Wheel, Vinyl Interior, and what is believed to be a Numbers Matching Engine and Transmission. 1973 Pontiac Firebird Formula 400

1973 Pontiac Firebird Formula 400

Engine: 400
Transmission: Turbo Hydromatic 400
Mileage: 82,436 ( undocumented )

Gateway Classic Cars of Tampa is proud to offer this excellent 1973 Pontiac Firebird Formula 400 Ram Air. This Formula 400 Firebird checks off all the necessary boxes to make this a worthy car for the first time “Muscle Car” purchaser looking to have fun, or the long-time collector looking to add to an existing collection. The first box to be checked off is “appearance”. How appealing does it look? At first glance, the Navajo Orange is an eye catcher and combines well with the beige bucket interior. The front end looks aggressive and sucks you in with dual snorkel functioning “Ram Air” hood. The sleek, bold styling of the car exudes a classy confident attitude. The second box is “performance”. This Firebird performs just as good as it looks. It boasts a 400 cubic inch numbers matching motor, along with a 4-barrel carburetor and “Ram Air” option. All you need to do is step on the gas to awaken the sleeping giant. Power is transferred from the engine through a Turbo Hydromatic 400 automatic transmission to a 10 bolt posi-traction rear end which now houses 3.42 gears. The third box is “value”. To some this may be the most important box. How do you determine value or forecast value in a car? There are several factors that affect this category: two of which are already checked off. Let’s think in the terms of supply and demand. In 1973, Pontiac only produced 4,622 Formula 400 cars. Many fell victim to the crusher or salvage yard. Some were torn apart and key authentic components were replaced with non-original parts. Others are parked in non-operating condition and rusted out in a field, barn, or garage. Very few of the 4,622 that were produced made it to 2018 with original equipment that were also kept in prestigious condition. Of the 4,622 Formula 400 vehicles, only 533 had the functioning “Ram Air” hood. Yes, this is one of the 533 born with that very special option. Another factor of determining value is, “can you prove the car is what it is?” Yes, with documentation, VIN, data plate, and number stampings, which this 73 Pontiac Firebird Formula 400 Ram Air has. Lastly, with Camaro’s fetching top tier prices, the focus has turned to what the next “Muscle Car” to ignite is. Buying trends are already showing favorable promise to the second-generation Firebirds. When you take all of this into consideration, this car is a trustworthy investment. Most of all, you can hop in and enjoy cruising it while your investment appreciates. You can place a big check mark in this box! Options include (cold) Air Conditioning, Power Brakes, Power Steering, Tilt Wheel, Seat Belts, Vinyl Interior, Raised White Letter Radial Tires, Rally Wheels, and Posi Traction. With 4 headlights, a chrome nose piece, pointed hood, inset taillights, quarter panel grills, and the infamous Firebird emblems really make these cars scream “muscle!” To view this 1968 Pontiac Firebird Convertible in greater detail, including HD pictures and an HD video of the car running and driving just visit us online at http://www.gatewayclassiccars.com. This signifies a 5.0L Tune-Port Injected V8, and a limited slip “performance gear ratio” of 3.45:1 on a 9-bolt rear axle. While talking numbers is interesting for a while, the soul of the car really gets your heart racing. 1985 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am

1985 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am

Engine: 411 CID V8
Transmission: Automatic
Mileage: 59,610 ( undocumented )

For sale in our Chicago showroom is this incredibly powerful 1985 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am GTA Tribute. How powerful you ask? How’s 840 horsepower? With a 411 cubic inch small block Chevrolet V8 sending all those ponies through a 2-speed automatic Powerglide spinning the custom aluminum driveshaft into the Ford 9” fabricated rear end. The aluminum center section houses a set of 4.56 rear gears to get the 29.5/10.5-15 racing slicks spinning and rocket this GTA down the quarter-mile in the 9’s at 146mph! The build was done starting in 2001. While 840 horsepower is very impressive, getting all that power to the ground is ultimately what matters. The 10.5 in slicks help plenty, but the mini-tub 4-link suspension really keep everything level. Plenty of work was worked into all spots of the chassis including frame ties, front suspension limiting straps, coilovers, and the 4-link suspension. Wilwood brakes on all 4 corners bring this white lightning to a halt quickly and safely. The engine and transmission have both been refreshed with no passes since. The vehicle has a title, but it is not currently street-legal. With over 800 horsepower ready to slingshot you through the traps in the blink of an eye, this is one exhilarating machine. Options include: T-tops, Tilt Steering Wheel, Seat Belts, Kill Switch, Racing Wheels, Alloy Wheels, Posi-Traction Rear Axle, and Racing Slicks. For more information on this incredible 1985 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am GTA, contact our Chicago showroom at (708) 444-4488 or Chicago@GatewayClassicCars.com. 1967 Pontiac Firebird

1967 Pontiac Firebird

Engine: 400 CI V8
Transmission: 4-Speed Manual
Mileage: 78,563 ( undocumented )

The Pontiac Firebird was introduced in 1967 and intended to compete with the Ford Mustang. The name “Firebird” actually dates back to several GM concept car designs from the 1950’s. The 1967 Firebird shared many styling cues with it’s cousin, the Chevrolet Camaro, although the Firebird’s bumpers were integrated into the design of the front end. Base models came equipped with a 230 ci inline-six engine although most buyers opted for one of three V8 options. The top of the line was a 400 cid monster shared with the Pontiac GTO and rated at 325 horsepower. This Black Cherry 1967 Pontiac Firebird features a replacement 400 V8 mated to a 4-speed manual transmission. The owner reports 3,000 miles since the rebuild. This total frame-off restoration features new 4-wheel disc brakes and new sheet metal floor and trunk lid. Cruise in style surrounded by a black leather interior and listen to the Retro Sound audio system. The entire build package is set off nicely by a set of Keystone custom wheels.
