Gateway Classic Cars of Chicago is excited to offer this very unique 1940 Ford Super Deluxe Flower Car once again. If you're scratching your head thinking "I've never seen one of those before!" It's probably because you most likely have not. This 1940 Ford Deluxe was produced by the Ford Motor Company and then converted by The Eureka Manufacturing Company of Rock Falls Illinois into a flower car. Essentially starting out as a 5-window coupe, the conversion lengthened the chassis and the convertible rear casket compartment was created with metal rollers and pins to store the side rails that would hold flowers in place. This car had a dual use of being enclosed with the original canvas cover for the less elaborate funerals and having the rear compartment cover removed and side rails installed for a more elaborate send off. Flower cars were popular during the middle of the century and now are rarely seen in modern funerals. While most if not all of these conversions done by Eureka were on General Motors vehicles this one being a Ford and not a Packard or Cadillac makes this highly obscure and is believed to be the only one ever made. This car was purchased new in 1940 and check out the original photos of the car being delivered. Now fast forward 78 years and you will notice that not much has really changed. This is an original, unmolested, unrestored car that still retains the original paint, original canvas cover, original interior and powertrain. Now is your chance to own something that nobody else has and enter the world of Professional Car Collectors. Surely this will be the only one at whatever show you attend and thanks to years of maintenance and recent service work performed this car is ready for the road and will cruise at highway speeds. New parts include brake shoes, wheel and master cylinders, brake hoses, rear axle seals, new points set, fuel tank, fuel pump and carburetor overhaul. Located in our Chicago showroom, this 1940 Ford Deluxe Flower Car can be seen including an HD video and pictures at www.gatewayclassiccars.com. Now for sale at Gateway Classic Cars here in Houston is this beautiful 1940 Ford 2-door sedan. Powered by the legendary 350 CID V8 small block Chevrolet v8 engine mated to a Turbo 350 automatic transmission. This awesome driving machine has only covered 2,000 miles since the build was completed. The exterior of the vehicle is done in a gorgeous, vibrant red with custom pinstriping. The cabin is a lovely place to sit and features excellently finished cloth and leather seats, AM/FM radio, seat belts and most importantly for those hot summer days, air conditioning. This one is easy to maneuver around tight parking lots and heavy traffic, thanks to its modern power brakes and power steering. The combination of all of these features and the fact that it came from California, really brings up the desirability level to 10. A high flat-topped hood dominated the front look of the 1940 model, as the grille spread out to reach the fenders to differentiate the Deluxe line and the headlights were pushed wider still. The standard Ford inherited the grille of the 1939 model with blackout on each side of a heavy chrome center; heavier headlight surrounds serve as another major differentiator from the 1939. 1940 was the last year of the 1937 design. Sealed-beam headlights were one of the few major advances for 1940, while a hydraulic top was new on the convertible. The 1937-1940 generation of Fords is one of the most popular automobiles for hot rodding. Early stock car racing drivers also used Fords of this generation among other cars. This Ford also formed the basis for a style of dirt track racing car. Don’t miss your chance to get behind the wheel of this one. Contact Gateway Classic Cars in Houston for more information. Financing and shipping options are available. Office hours are Monday through Saturday 9-5pm central time. Gateway Classic Cars of Houston is proud to offer up this cool 1940 Ford Coupe for sale. Between the attention-grabbing paint job and the relatively modern powertrain, this car is sure to be a fun toy for the new owner. Under the hood of this beauty is a Chevrolet 350 CID V8 engine that has been rebuilt roughly 1,900 miles ago. When driving the car, one can tell that this engine is fresh thanks to the abundance of power and a strong, smooth pull all throughout the rev range. The engine is kept cool thanks to a Walker radiator. Also, the car is equipped with Sanderson headers to provide a mean sound. Sending the power to the rear end is a turbo 350 three-speed automatic transmission that shifts smoothly through the gears. The rear end in this sweet ride is a curry 9" that is geared just right to provide the car with a good balance of acceleration and top end. The handling of this beauty is greatly enhanced by the front end sourced from a Mustang II. Helping bring the car to a brisk stop are power disc brakes at all four corners. Overall, this car drives like a relatively modern car and is very fun. Upon entering the cabin of the vehicle, the driver will notice the completely redone tan leather interior. The seats are very comfortable and provide much more support than the original style seats would have. This car also is equipped with comfort features such as power windows, heat, air conditioning, heated seats, and a custom radio and sound system. The trunk of the car has also been done in the tan leather theme of the interior and looks great. Adding to the cool features of this car is the fact that the trunk lid is power and comes up with the push of a button! Overal, the interior of this beauty was very well thought out and is comfortable. Moving outward, the exterior features a bright yellow basecoat with flames painted running from front to rear. The paint is in pretty good shape and would really come alive with a proper detailing and waxing. supporting each corner of the vehicle are american racing rally wheels wrapped in almost new BFG radial tires. For sale at Gateway Classic Cars in our Chicago showroom is a 1940 Ford Standard Coupe. This is a very cool hot rod! Power comes from a well built 1953 Mercury V8 Flathead that has been fitted with a 3/4 race Comp Cams camshaft, a decked set of cylinder heads for more compression, Brassworks radiator and a 12 volt electrical system. This car makes such a great sound! There's nothing like a well built high performance Flathead. Power is sent through a 3 speed manual mounted on the column. Both the engine and transmission have roughly 1,000 miles since the rebuild and offer issue free enjoyment. The engine was professionally built at Flatland Flatheads out of Oklahoma City. These guys know their stuff. This car will turn heads with the sound alone. Painted in an inconspicuous Clay with a tan interior and a set of period correct hubcaps. The front end has dropped front axle that offers a lowered ride height by a smidge and is fitted with confident inspiring front disc brakes. Adding to the great ride is a set of radial tires and some comfy leather seats. Inside you will also notice the restored gauges that have also been rewired for the 12 volt system. Surrounding the gauges is a beautiful machined turn gauge surround. Completing the 12 volt upgrade is an alternator in place of the old generator. Gateway Classic Cars is proud to present this excellent 1968 Ford Mustang GT. The first-generation Ford Mustang was manufactured by Ford from March 1964 until 1973. The introduction of the Mustang created a new class of automobile known as the pony car. The Mustang’s styling, with its long hood and short deck, proved wildly popular and inspired a host of competition. It was initially introduced on April 17, 1964, as a hardtop and convertible with the fastback version put on sale in August 1964. At the time of its introduction, the Mustang, sharing its underpinnings with the Falcon, was slotted into a compact car segment. With each revision, the Mustang saw an increase in overall dimensions and in engine power. The 1971 model saw a drastic redesign to its predecessors. After an initial surge, sales were steadily declining, as Ford began working on a new generation Mustang. With the onset of the 1973 oil crisis, Ford was prepared, having already designed the smaller Mustang II for the 1974 model year. This new car had no common components with preceding models. This car has recently finished its restoration with only 185 miles since being a finished project. The car originally came from California and is an actual GT from the factory. It has been repainted to the Highland Green with a stylish black stripe painted on the hood. This car has had the original set up and 302 replaced with a 428, 4 speed manual, Ford 9” rear end, and has a 3.73 gearing. The Ram Air hood is functional and adds an aggressive stylish look to this 1st generation Mustang GT. This GT has many upgrades including a digital dash, custom wheels, and even comes with a Marti Report. The suspension has been lowered with Shelby suspension for a more aggressive look. If you want to add something light, fast, with a professional quality build than this is the Gen 1 Mustang for you.
