Gateway Classic Cars of Louisville is proud to present this 1938 Chevrolet Sedan Street Rod. As the nation climbed out of the depression in 38 promoted their vehicles as “The Car that Is Complete”. You could get one of these beauty’s off the lot in 38 fully loaded and spend less than 800 dollars with its 85 HP engine. Well it’s not 1938 anymore and this the only thing 1938 about this beauty is the body. The all steel car was painted in a teal blue that compliments the lines of the vehicle nicely. The weld wheels go well with the rest of the car but it’s not until you get around to the back that you notice this thing got some meat under there. The rear was mini-tubbed to accommodate the much wider wheels but the result was well worth it. The other thing you notice is the custom Flow master exhaust with the Corvette tips centered and coming out the middle giving it a one-off look. Under the hood is a very stout 355 that puts out plenty of power to get this 38 down the road. The new 4 core radiator keeps everything nice and cool even when sitting in traffic. The TH400 transmission shifts out nice and smooth with a quick downshift when you hit the pedal. Inside the Tweed interior is in good condition with the bucket seats having a nice cradle that will hold you in place. The dash looks great with the blue paint giving off a great contrast to the grey. Yet still the best part of this Sedan must be the suicide doors in the rear. We offer this 1939 Chevrolet Deluxe Sedan. Well you can throw your ideas of staying out of sight right out the window if you take this 1939 Chevrolet Master Deluxe 2-door sedan home with you. Bright orange paint, flames, a rumbling stroker motor, and all the other stuff that makes hot rods awesome is standard equipment. If you like the look, you're going to love the ride. Over $25,000 was spent on the paint and interior on this car and it shows. The '39 Chevys were always attractive cars, and with a few minor tweaks, this one takes on a slick hot-rod look that's impeccably smooth. The all-steel body did not require major surgery to get to its current astounding condition, just a lot of time invested in the details. Plus block sanding... lots and lots of block sanding. The bright orange paint has a bunch of pearl in it, so there's a glow to it when the light hits it just right, and the incredible flames are so intricate and detailed that they probably took two weeks to paint all by themselves. You'll note that much of the trim was shaved, and the flames lick around the side trim which is still in place, just painted to match the body. The grille appears stock but is actually a fabricated piece that simulates the classic 1939 Chevy V-shaped grille, giving it an updated, smooth look. The windshield was Vee'd, the running boards painted body color and treated to their own flame job, and discreet side mirrors were fitted to the doors. Other smooth tricks include a flush-mounted fuel-filler door and the low-mounted taillights where the bumper used to life. The stunning interior is well beyond your usual hot rod fare, incorporating low-back buckets and more flames to great effect. The tan leatherette upholstery feels upscale and supple, and the modern buckets are all-day comfortable. They brought the orange paint inside, but in small doses so it feels cohesive without being overwhelming, and the custom-made dashboard is absolutely beautiful with its cream-colored gauges. A/C was artfully incorporated into the dash and a powerful AM/FM/CD stereo uses speakers in the custom center console and rear deck to deliver sound. A full-width back seat means this is a family-friendly rod and with a sizeable trunk in back, feel free to hit the road in style. Cruising is effortless, but this Chevy is also downright fast thanks to a 383 cubic inch small block which has been dressed in lots of chrome. The coordination with the bodywork is evident and they really went the extra mile to make it look right, hood up or hood down. Equipment like a 4-barrel carburetor and block-hugger headers help the fast-revving stroker motor build horsepower and with a TH350 3-speed automatic transmission, it's plenty punchy around town. The chassis was reinforced and upgraded with a Mustang II front suspension with rack-and-pinion steering, while out back there's a Ford 9-inch on leaf springs with a beefy sway bar. Disc brakes at all four corners are a sensible upgrade and with new ball joints and shocks in 2011, it rides and drives superbly. 15-inch American Racing wheels polished up nicely and wear 195/60/15 front and fat 225/70/15 rear performance radials. Well-built and not too radical to drive across the country, this very cool '39 Chevy makes a compelling argument for full-sized rods. There it is a 1939 Chevrolet Custom Truck and Trailer combo that is now for sale in our Houston Showroom. This truck is what we can call custom, and does not have any hard time winning trophies at any car show you choose to take it to. This truck is powered by a strong 313 CID Inline 6 which is plenty of power for this light weight beauty. The transmission the is paired up with the engine is a Ford C4 with a “Lokar” shifter. Both the engine and transmission were rebuilt by Owens Race Engine in Pearland. At a quick glance, it would be hard to determine this is a Chevrolet being it has a grill from a 1937 Hudson Terraplane, headlights from a ’30 Hudson, and taillights from a ’59 Cadillac Ambulance. Each time you look at this truck you will find something new or interesting, which was the intention of the truck as it climbed to the top of the competition at several previous car shows. The Carb intake is a Zenith TIN40 from a ’71 Porsche 911-T with Velocity Stacks. The 4-barrel intake is a Ford 300 Offenhauser with a Holly 570 “Street Avenger” mounted on top. The parts on this truck is like a time capsule ranging from parts dated back to the early 1900’s all the way up to the 90’s. What truly makes this truck an American classic is the WWII pieces that have been installed such as the brass hood and trunk handles from vintage WWII naval electric conduit clips, Zoomie heat shield from WWII zero recoil artillery shell casings, and the overhead switches from a B-29 Bomber. As you work your way down on this piece of history you see the truck and trailer both sit on OEM wheels from a ’41 Ford. The tires are in great shape and made by Diamond Back with Michelin rear cases. The trailer that comes with this truck is a ’36 Mullins which were only made in ’36-’37 in turn making this deal just that much sweeter. The interior is a tan color and in great condition, you will notice everything from the floors, carpet, and headliner are all in great shape.
