“Easy to take anywhere”, was the slogan back in 1961 for this stunning Pontiac Bonneville. During this era, they were also advertising the car with wide track. This referred to an idea they came up with just a couple years earlier where they moved the tires towards outwards towards the inner fender wells allowing this car to look good from every single area. This 1961 Pontiac Bonneville convertible in particular was special ordered from a dealership in Minnesota back in May of 1961. This car was specifically ordered with no power brakes, power steering, or air conditioning to maximize the performance being produced by the 389 CID Tri-Power V8 making 318HP which was the highest output you could order. Another very rare option that this car was ordered with was the Q1 4-Speed manual transmission that is estimated to be original equipment in less than 100 of these Bonnevilles. Other interesting options include the 8-Lug wheels, Pontiac script tachometer and vacuum gauges, and the Tradewind blue exterior color with the Blue (H4) soft top.
This car was well maintained for all of its life, but was starting to show its age after 45 years. So in 2006, this rare Bonneville underwent a complete frame off restoration where no expense was sparred. Since it was completed, the car has been very well kept and looks just as good as the day that it was finished. The drive train was also gone through during this time period and was freshened up, but kept as stock specification. This car is an excellent cruising vessel and is truly one of a kind. If you have been keeping your eye out for a classic Bonneville like this, do not miss out. There are limited numbers of these out there and even fewer in this condition.
