For sale in our Dallas showroom is a gorgeous looking 1965 Mustang Fastback. A factory A Code 2+2 car with a 4 speed transmission. This could be the perfect drivers Mustang combination. The year is 1965, Racing driver Jim Clark wins the Indianapolis 500, and later wins the Formula One world driving championship in the same year. While this gorgeous Ford Mustang rolls off the assembly line, trying to keep up with the demand of the public. Now recently rebuilt starting with the 289 V8, A/C, power steering, backed by an automatic transmission, digital dash, vinyl interior. Lee Iacocca's assistant general manager and chief engineer, Donald N. Frey was the head engineer for the T-5 project—supervising the overall development of the car in a record 18 months—while Iacocca himself championed the project as Ford Division general manager. The T-5 prototype was a two-seat, mid-mounted engine roadster. This vehicle employed the German Ford Taunus V4 engine. It was claimed that the decision to abandon the two-seat design was in part due to the increase in sales the Thunderbird had seen when enlarged from a two-seater to a 2+2 in 1958. Thus, a four-seat car with full space for the front bucket seats, as originally planned, and a rear bench seat with significantly less space than was common at the time, were standard. A "Fastback 2+2", first manufactured on August 17, 1964, enclosed the trunk space under a sweeping exterior line similar to the second series Corvette Sting Ray and European sports cars such as the Jaguar E-Type coupe. Favorable publicity articles appeared in 2,600 newspapers the next morning, the day the car was "officially" revealed. We have a beautiful 1965 Ford Mustang here in our Milwaukee showroom. It is coated in a beautiful White paint with blue interior. It features a 289ci V8 with air conditioning. This is an awesome car that runs great and looks fantastic! Several changes to the Mustang occurred at the start of the "normal" 1965 model year in August 1964, about four months after its introduction. These cars are known as "late 65's". The engine lineup was changed, with a 200 cu in (3.3 L) "T-code" engine that produced 120 hp (89 kW; 122 PS). Production of the Fairlane's "F-code" 260 cu in (4.3 L) engine ceased when the 1964 model year ended. It was replaced with a new 200 hp (150 kW) "C-code" 289 cu in (4.7 L) engine with a two-barrel carburetor as the base V8. An "A-code" 225 hp (168 kW; 228 PS) four-barrel carbureted version was next in line, followed by the unchanged "Hi-Po" "K-code" 271 hp (202 kW; 275 PS) 289. The DC electrical generator was replaced by a new AC alternator on all Fords (a way to distinguish a 1964 from a 1965 is to see if the alternator light on the dash says "GEN" or "ALT"). The Mustang GT version was introduced as the "GT Equipment Package" and included a V8 engine (most often the 225 hp (168 kW; 228 PS) 289), grille-mounted fog lamps, rocker panel stripes, and disc brakes. In the interior the GT option added a different instrument panel that included a speedometer, fuel gauge, temp. gauge, oil pressure gauge and ammeter in five round dials (the gauges were not marked with numbers, however.) A four-barrel carbureted engine was now available with any body style. Additionally, reverse lights were an option added to the car from August 1964 production. The Mustang was originally available as either a hardtop or convertible, but during the car's early design phases a fastback model was strongly considered. In 1965, the Shelby Mustang was born, it was available only in newly introduced fastback body version with its swept-back rear glass and distinctive ventilation louvers. The standard interior features of the 1965 Mustang included adjustable driver and passenger bucket seats, an AM radio, and a floor mounted shifter in a variety of color options. Ford added additional interior options during the 1965 model year. The Interior Decor Group was popularly known as "Pony Interior" due to the addition of embossed running ponies on the seat fronts, and also included integral armrests, woodgrain appliqué accents, and a round gauge cluster that would replace the standard Falcon instrumentation. Also available were sun visors, a (mechanical) remote-operated mirror, a floor console, and a bench seat. Ford later offered an under-dash air-conditioning unit, and discontinued the vinyl with cloth insert seat option, offered only in early 1965 models. One option designed strictly for fun was the Rally-Pac. Introduced in 1963 after Ford's success at that year's Monte Carlo Rally and available on other Ford and Mercury compacts and intermediates, the Rally-Pac was a combination clock and tachometer mounted to the steering column. It was available as a factory ordered item for US$69.30. Installed by a dealer, the Rally-Pac cost US$75.95.A 14" rim option was available for Rally-pac and GT350R vehicles widening front and rear track to 57.5". Reproductions are presently available from any number of Mustang restoration parts sources. A compass, rear seat belts, A/C, and back-up lights were also optional. This 1965 Ford Mustang Fastback 2+2 is for sale in our Louisville KY showroom. The 65 Fastback was an instant success as soon as it went on sale. With the know how of a guy named Carrol Shelby the car would be great track weapon and helped to propel the fastback to legendary status. People still today love the lines and the relatively small size of these cars making them perfect candidates for some serious performance upgrades. This 65 is a great example of exactly that keeping the body lines and simply pumping up the performance aspect. The red paint is clean and shows very well with the white strip right above the rockers breaking up the red nicely. The scoop on the hood helps to give the car that aggressive look. The Magnum 500 Wheels are classic Mustang and finish off the exterior of this 2+2 nicely. Under the hood is a recently built 331 stroker motor that only has 1000 miles since being built. A full roller motor this is an engine that will last. The Comp cam is the perfect mix of bottom end grunt while having a nice top end pull. The Trick Flow aluminum heads are a great set and really allow this small block to perform at its best. Exhaust gas is taken out through the headers and into dual 2.5” pipes all the way back allowing for a nice and deep sound. Backing up that 331 is another top of the line component, a TKO 600 allowing for complete control. The Moser 9” rear-end with a true-trac diff allows for nice smoky burnouts. The Cal-trac monoleaf springs and traction bars help to place the power on the ground while stiffening up the rear. When you have the ability to go this fast you need to be able to stop as well. The 4-wheel Wilwood set up has that part taken care of allowing for aggressive stops with very little pedal fade. Inside the seller has went with an original style interior with a couple custom touches. The dash has been built and installed using AFR gauges with a very straight forward layout. The shifter is in the perfect spot with the E-brake moved to a handbrake position. If you have been wanting to get into a great looking 65 Fastback that performs just as good this red 2+2 is the car for you. This classic Mustang received an extensive restoration about 1000 miles ago including an overhaul of the “A code” 289 CID 4V engine and T-10 four speed transmission. Unlike many classic Mustangs out there that have had engine and transmission swaps this is an original “A” code 289 4 and four speed car from the factory, it even still sports the hard to find “Autolite” four barrel carburetor. The sheet metal is very straight and paint is excellent in a high-quality finish. The 15-inch period correct Rallye wheels are a perfect complement to this classic Mustang and are fitted with 20560R15 tires. The chrome and bright work are excellent and the windshield and seal has also been replaced, the rest of the glass is in great condition as well. This Pony Car has new shocks and suspension parts, new clutch and a rebuilt steering gear. The drum brakes are power assisted and the steering is power as well. Engine cooling is handled by an upgraded aluminum radiator to keep things cool in hot weather.Inside this fantastic Mustang you will find a very nice interior that has had many renovations. There is a Ford period correct under-dash air conditioner that has been upgraded with a modern lightweight “Sanden” style compressor using R134 Freon and it blows ice cold. The following items have been replaced during the restoration: seat upholstery, door panels, carpet, dash pad, headliner, Dynamat insulation and more, the interior of this Mustang is in outstanding condition. All the chrome, trim and bright work inside are in great shape. Tunes are provided by a modern digital “Retrosounds” stereo that sounds great, it even has a built-in slide cover to make it look like an old school AM radio! This car starts right up and the dual, full length exhaust has a nice muscle car rumble but is not overly loud. The 289 CID engine has plenty of power and it drives and shifts great. This classic Mustang would be a fine addition to any car collection or a great way to begin your classic car passion. The year is 1964, The World’s largest cheese is manufactured in Wisconsin for the New York World Fair, US President Lyndon B. Johnson signs Civil Rights Act & Voting Rights Act into law and this gorgeous 1964 ½ HiPo Mustang rolls into dealerships for the first time. Since then she has undergone a full meticulous restoration. Now with only 45 miles on her since the restoration was completed earlier this year. It is believed that only 90 ‘64 ½ HiPo’s coupes were ever produced. The Ford Mustang is an American car manufactured by Ford. It was originally based on the platform of the second generation North American Ford Falcon, a compact car. The original 1962 Ford Mustang I two-seater concept car had evolved into the 1963 Mustang II four-seater concept car which Ford used to pretest how the public would take interest in the first production Mustang. The 1963 Mustang II concept car was designed with a variation of the production model's front and rear ends with a roof that was 2.7 inches shorter. Introduced early on April 17, 1964 (16 days after the Plymouth Barracuda), and thus dubbed as a "1964½" by Mustang fans, the 1965 Mustang was the automaker's most successful launch since the Model A. The Mustang has undergone several transformations to its current sixth generation. It's easily the best thing to come out of Dearborn since the 1932 V-8 Model B roadster. But for all Ford's talk of Total Performance, it's still clear that the Mustang has been designed and built to a price. The necessity of meeting cost goals meant that it had to share a maximum number of components with other models in the Ford line. Out of this situation sprang the advantage of an extremely wide availability of options for the Mustang, selected from the Falcon, Fairlane and Galaxie series. Briefly, it gives the customer a choice of four engines, three clutches, seven transmissions, two driveshafts, four brake systems, four wheel types and three wheel sizes, three suspension systems, and three steering systems. This seems slightly overwhelming until one remembers that only certain combinations are authorized, for either technical or commercial reasons. Lee Anthony Iacocca, vice president and general manager of Ford Division, sees the Mustang first as a family car, which meant that it had to have four seats, with better rear seat accommodation than is offered in the "two-plus-two" category. It's also aimed at a not-clearly-defined market consisting of customers looking for a not-clearly-defined combination of luxury and status. The TH350 automatic transmission has a stage 2 shift kit and a 3200-3500 stall converter to help transfer the power to the built Chrysler 8 ¾ rear end with Auburn Posi-Traction and 3.73 gears. The PPG black paint is accented nicely with the red vinyl interior. A door on the passenger side allows for an easier entry and exit of the tub. This T sits on Weld Racing Rodlite wheels with some big fat bias-ply Mickey Thompsons on the back, and smaller Nexen radials up front. Disc brakes adorn all for corners, and coil over shocks are in the rear to provide as nice a ride as possible for this T-Bucket. The odometer reads 645, which represents the mileage put on the car since the build was complete approximately 14 years ago. Lovingly assembled and maintained, every receipt for this 3-window build was saved and documented during the process, guaranteeing the car’s value for years to come. This ’34 is rocking a powdercoated Pete & Jake’s chassis, pinched in the front, and bobbed in the rear to give this custom a truly sinister stance. A Redneck Street Rods ’34 fiberglass body sits upon the frame with a professional 5” channeling and a 2 5/8” chop. Redneck produces the finest bodies in the street rodding business, and is the go-to body for builders across the globe due to its superior manufacturing. The coupe is finished in DuPont Black Pearl with several coats of DuPont clear. Upon further inspection, you will find a very subtle Blue Pearl, Orange Pearl and Red Pearl ghost flame striking down the front of the hood. In respect to drivability, the coupe has been outfitted with Aldan coilovers on all four corners, Wilwood brakes, and a Currie Ford 9” rear end. The powerplant is hosted by a SBC 350 Edelbrock crate motor pushing 450hp to the crank, paired to a 4L60E Bowler transmission with a Lokar floor shifter and Inland Empire polished aluminum driveshaft. The customization continues with staggered 18” and 20” Colorado Customs wheels, Colorado Customs steering wheel, Classic gauges, pushbutton start, custom stereo/CD player, fully customized leather interior, and Vintage Air air conditioning.
