Engine: 283 CID Fuelie V8 290 HPTransmission: Borg Warner T10, 4 Speed Mileage: 4687 ( since rebuilt )
Gateway Classic Cars of Detroit is proud to offer a beautiful 1959 Chevrolet Corvette Fuelie. Introduced in 1957, mechanical fuel injection was offered on Corvettes as a higher horsepower variant of the standard cars. In 1959 this meant your choice of a 250 Horsepower or 290 Horsepower 283 CID V8 with no carburetor to be found. 745 buyers chose the $484.20 option to get the 290 HP Fuelie. This particular example is beautifully optioned in Crown Sapphire with white coves and Turquoise interior. She wears the appropriate hub caps with knock offs wrapped in wide white wall tires. The chrome trim on this particular car is in great shape and makes for a dazzling piece of eye candy. Inside you'll find more chrome and stainless trim to accent the black upholstery. This awesome 1959 Corvette has the Crown Sapphire paint that only 888 Corvette’s left the factory with. Driving enthusiasts will be delighted to see that behind the 290 HP v8 is a proper 4 speed manual transmission. Speaking of the drive train, the engine has been completely rebuilt, and perhaps even more importantly, the fuel injection system has been rebuilt by an expert that specializes in these systems. The car runs beautifully and is a delight to pilot down the road. Being a Fuelie, and therefore quite rare, this is a true collector's piece. This car would be at home in the most avid Corvette collector's garage. Engine: 283 CIDTransmission: 4 Speed ManualMileage: 941 ( undocumented )
For the last 30 years this Corvette has been kept original and maintained by the same owner and, to this day, it makes for a great turn key cruiser! The red and white color combination is one of the most sought after of this body style and is easy to see why as you look around this car. The Chrome accents make the paint jump out from the crowd, and the red interior to match makes a seamless transition between the inside and out. As you open the door and slide into the driver’s seat, you will be taken back in time by the two-tone dash, chrome accents, and the large steering wheel that came stock back in 1957. Fire up the 283 cubic inch V8 and it’ll come to life quickly! The four speed manual transmission transitions smoothly between gears and is overall a very satisfying car to drive. The bias ply tires provide a cushy ride and keep it looking original. Included in the sale are the original WCFB dual four barrel carburetors. This stunning classic Corvette is ready for a new home and to be driven! It would make a great car for someone who has been dreaming about owning their own red on white 1st generation corvette. Engine: 528 HemiTransmission: 4-Speed ManualMileage: 29410 ( undocumented )
For sale at Gateway Classic Cars in our St. Louis showroom is a 1968 Dodge Charger R/T. This beautiful Charger started life out as a 440 4-speed car and is still equipped with the original 4-speed and Dana rear end. Power comes from a fire breathing Ray Barton 528 Hemi crate engine producing 650 horsepower! The Hemi is equipped with aluminum heads and intake with a single four-barrel carburetor feeding fuel. The engine is also fitted with a March Serpentine belt system and a 3-inch TTI exhaust system. This giant Hemi sits a little taller than the old 440. To clear the hood, some serious custom work was performed to the original steel hood. There are around 130-man hours in the hood alone! The builder started with a stock steel hood, relocated the recessed areas further out for the Duster scoop to fit between them. What a magnificent job! If you've ever restored a black car, you know how much time and patience it takes to get it right. The underside is also painted in a high gloss black and looks just as good as the top side. 17-inch Boyd Coddington aluminum wheels finish off the look. An adjustable coil over suspension and Alterkation K frame with rack and pinion steering give this Charger the perfect stance. Slowing down this 650-horsepower beast is a set of Wilwood disc brakes on all four corners. Power is transferred from the original 4-speed and back to the original Dana 60 rear housing 3.54:1 rear gears. The interior has a very stock appearance to it; however, it was also fully restored like the rest of the car including all the gauges, seats, carpet and headliner. There is also controls for a new Classic Auto A/C unit. The build was a total rotisserie and was completed in 2011. Since its completion, the car has been shown nationally and received a 1st place at the Mopar Nationals in 2011 with a score of 995 of 1000 points, 2012 Gold Muscle Car Nationals with a 997 out of 1000, 2013 Magnificent 7 Winner, 2013 Gold at the Muscle Car Nationals in Chicago, 2013 1st at the Street Rod Nationals in Louisville, KY, 2013 Best of Show at Mopar Happening in Belvedere, IL, 2014 Gold at Muscle Car Nationals in Chicago, 2015 1st place at World of Wheels Chicago. The build has certainly proven itself with the mentioned awards. There are 300 miles since the completion. The proud new owner will receive a detailed photo album of the restoration and the original Broadcast Sheet proving this is an original R/T 440 4-speed car.
