For sale in our Dallas/Fort Worth showroom is a hand fabricated full steel 1965 Ford Mustang Fastback. Yes, you read that correctly, no fiberglass on this pretty pony, just pure hand fabricated steel done the old-fashioned way on an English Wheel.
Fabricated body panels include; hood, hood scoop, front air dam, wheel flares, side exhaust rocker panels, upper and lower scoops, rear trunk and spoiler, lower pan, tail lights, recessed license plate, and engine compartment panels. The attention to detail on this Mustang is incredible, the builder even put thought in to making it something you could jump in and drive with cold air conditioning, upgraded custom leather bucket seats, and a 7-speaker sound system.
Getting you to the car show in style and with speed, your power train includes a fresh 351 Windsor backed by a 5 speed Tremec transmission. Making the ride comfortable is the new Heidt’s front coil over suspension, and you don’t have to worry about stopping with those big Wilwood disk brakes all the way around! Once you get to the show, simply hit the hide-a-plate key fob and watch your front plate disappear under the car so you can show off that custom all steel front bumper. All in all, you would be hard pressed to find a nicer all steel custom 1965 Mustang Fastback. You most certainly won’t be able to build another one like this for the money!

Gateway Classic Cars of St. Louis is proud to offer a car everyone can appreciate: a 1965 Ford Mustang. Right up there with baseball, apple pie, and old glory, it doesn't get much more American than a Ford Mustang. Released in 1964, the first generation had a little bit for everyone. A massive options list allowed each buyer to spec out their pony however they wanted. Multiple engines, transmissions, power options, colors, and even body style were available. Within the same model, a Mustang could range from a basic coupe with a 6 cylinder and a 3 speed manual, to a fire breathing K-Code fastback with a V8 and a 4 speed on the floor. This particular example is nicely set up with a 289 V8 under the hood and an automatic transmission. The exterior is finished in a snappy coat of bright orange and it rides on some 5 spoke alloy wheels with healthy tires. Inside you'll find black vinyl upholstery, bucket seats, and a floor mounted shifter. These little coupes are great cars to drive. They aren't too big or too small, and with an automatic transmission, you don't have to be a racecar driver to take this one out for a spin. Whether you're looking for your first classic car, or you're adding to a collection, this Mustang would fit the bill. You can see this 1965 Ford Mustang in greater detail in our St. Louis showroom or at www.GatewayClassicCars.com. Please contact 618-271-3000 or STL@gatewayclassiccars.com with inquiries.

The year is 1964, The World’s largest cheese is manufactured in Wisconsin for the New York World Fair, US President Lyndon B. Johnson signs Civil Rights Act & Voting Rights Act into law and this gorgeous 1964 ½ HiPo Mustang rolls into dealerships for the first time. Since then she has undergone a full meticulous restoration. Now with only 45 miles on her since the restoration was completed earlier this year. It is believed that only 90 ‘64 ½ HiPo’s coupes were ever produced. The Ford Mustang is an American car manufactured by Ford. It was originally based on the platform of the second generation North American Ford Falcon, a compact car. The original 1962 Ford Mustang I two-seater concept car had evolved into the 1963 Mustang II four-seater concept car which Ford used to pretest how the public would take interest in the first production Mustang. The 1963 Mustang II concept car was designed with a variation of the production model's front and rear ends with a roof that was 2.7 inches shorter. Introduced early on April 17, 1964 (16 days after the Plymouth Barracuda), and thus dubbed as a "1964½" by Mustang fans, the 1965 Mustang was the automaker's most successful launch since the Model A. The Mustang has undergone several transformations to its current sixth generation. It's easily the best thing to come out of Dearborn since the 1932 V-8 Model B roadster. But for all Ford's talk of Total Performance, it's still clear that the Mustang has been designed and built to a price. The necessity of meeting cost goals meant that it had to share a maximum number of components with other models in the Ford line. Out of this situation sprang the advantage of an extremely wide availability of options for the Mustang, selected from the Falcon, Fairlane and Galaxie series. Briefly, it gives the customer a choice of four engines, three clutches, seven transmissions, two driveshafts, four brake systems, four wheel types and three wheel sizes, three suspension systems, and three steering systems. This seems slightly overwhelming until one remembers that only certain combinations are authorized, for either technical or commercial reasons. Lee Anthony Iacocca, vice president and general manager of Ford Division, sees the Mustang first as a family car, which meant that it had to have four seats, with better rear seat accommodation than is offered in the "two-plus-two" category. It's also aimed at a not-clearly-defined market consisting of customers looking for a not-clearly-defined combination of luxury and status. In addition to all this, the Mustang is intended as a sports car. Especially with the 271 HP V8 HiPo, backed by a 4 speed. You’ll feel like Capt. Stanley Tucker, driving this beauty down the road. For sale at Gateway Classic Cars in our St. Louis showroom is a 1965 Ford Mustang 2+2, aka Fastback. This beautiful Ivy Green 4-speed car has recently undergone a detailed restoration. During the restoration the A code 289 engine was built to Hi Po (K-code) specs with the addition of roller rockers. Adding roller rockers to an already amazing engine is a recipe for further greatness. Backed up by a 4-speed manual just makes this car that much more fun! The Ivy green paint shines like new, the black vinyl interior also looks new and is very comfortable. Inside you'll also notice a set of Rally Pack gauges atop the steering column and a center console. The dash pad looks new and is free of any cracks or wrinkles as is the headliner that fits tightly. Adding to the exterior are White Mustang rocker panel stripes, Magnum 500 wheels, GT fog lights and GT trumpet exhaust tips. Other notable features are the front disc brakes and power steering that aids in easy maneuvering. A lot of these were equipped with four wheel drums which can be a bit frightening at times.
