Gateway Classic Cars of Fort Lauderdale is excited to present this beautiful classic 1972 AMC Javelin SST.

Fresh Full Preservation of an All Original Survivor

General Description:

All numbers matching survivor with 99% of its factory parts date coded within weeks of the July 1972 build completion. Just completed extensive year-long professional preservation including its first ever repaint. Every effort spent returning this rare SST back to its factory original appearance, regardless of cost. Even has the original date coded engine, transmission, radiator, rear axle, carburetor, air conditioning system, intake and exhaust manifolds, plus much more.

Pictures and video included with the sale, demonstrates this car was always highly maintained by two previous meticulous Southern owners. Prior to recent preservation, the car was an amazingly preserved all original survivor with its factory paint still showing nice luster. Along with all factory decals under the hood and chassis and drive shaft markings.

Preservation Process

It was a toss up to leave it as is, or restore it to its current pristine condition. As, after 45 years of well-maintained use, even the best of cars accumulates some minor bumps and bruises. So, the decision was made to perform a full preservation. It began by first video and photo documenting all aspects for originality, to ensure all the parts were correctly replaced.

The bumpers, exterior trim, motor, exhaust manifolds, exhaust, grill, lights, doors, trunk lid, spoiler, hood, lower front and rear valences, carpet, headliner, and interior trim were all disassembled. Ensuring every nook and cranny is now painted flawlessly from top to bottom.

For originality sake, the factory wiring harness, dash, gauges, rear seat, original factory undercoating, welds, clips, switches, and all the little doo-dads that make this Javelin an original survivor were left in place and cleaned.

AMC uni-bodies were "deep-dip" rustproofed at the factory and received undercoating. Meaning, this fact and its exceptional care and always being garaged, means this one does NOT have any of the Javelin/AMX-specific corrosion trouble areas.

The rust-free body was recently professionally painted with PPG base coat/ clear coat. The body was painstakingly wet sanded between coats with increasingly fine grit and polished. Now smooth as glass and has great luster and body panel alignment. Never driven since completion, except for a few test miles to ensure all is mechanically ready to drive.

***The front and rear bumpers, all original factory stainless trim, rocker panel cover molding, logos, drip moldings, window moldings and etcetera only needed light polishing are in original amazing condition.

*** The attractive1972 only, Ferarri-esque egg crate style grill was painted its correct gray and black with bright silver face.

*** Tail lamp assembly with chrome grid covering is original and in great condition.

*** Original exterior door handles and driver side chrome mirror have very good original chrome.

*** Both door sill plates are in original unrestored condition and show awesome very slight patina.

*** Underside of the car received the same painstaking treatment as the top side. It even retains the original factory undercoating. Then once the underside was fully detailed it was painted with black POR-15 to keep it protected and rust free for many more years. Look like it just rolled off the line in Kenosha.

***The trunk area has been restored to concourse specifications with new correct dark green/aqua spatter paint and original factory sealer preserved. Correct factory semi-gloss black was used on the rear bumper brackets and seat back stanchion bars. All trunk floor access holes filled with original OEM black plastic access caps.

*** This car is so original it even still has the very hard to find Original AMC Trunk Mat in as new condition. Also, has in great condition the rarely seen original AMC floor mats.

*** Still retains the Original Date Correct and unused unpainted Space Saver Spare Tire and Rim with original paper labels and factory markings.

*** Unpainted air inflator canister with original production and date codes with new reproduction instruction label, hold down bracket, and complete painted jack setup.

*** Plus, an extra bonus. A second original full size spare tire and rim are also included. Both, unused with white factory markings and injection nubs on the tires tread block surface and side walls.

*** All new correct reproduction weather-stripping was added to the doors, windows, trunk, and hood, with all factory original retaining clips, screws, and brackets.

***The optional black vinyl roof simulates a T-top and has new correct reproduction boar skin textured inserts. Original factory correct roof trim repainted correct satin/semi black with factory style retaining clips securing them down with factory sealer on the edges. Applied just like the factory did to prevent water infiltration.

*** All new Javelin logos and red, white, and blue bullseyes were added

*** All door locks, trunk and console locks work with factory original keys and vintage Javelin key fob.

Glass

Original driver and passenger windows, as well as rear glass states “Solex” brand. Quarter window glass states “Guardian”. Front windshield appears to have been replaced with correct tinted glass. All weather stripping and window felts replaced. Driver and passenger side window tracks and door internal mechanicals fully restored with all new window guide bushings. No infamous Javelin window wobble and doors close solidly.

Interior

*** Original Contoured Bucket Seats and Center Console.

*** All lights work, all plastic PRND21 shift gate pieces, with original silicon sleeve on the new bulb intact and in great condition.

*** The entire Dash, Dash Pad, wood Gauge Panel with silver trim surrounds, inner Door Panels, wood Door trim, Console, Kick Panels, Sail Panels, Switches, Rear Seat, 3 Spoke Steering Wheel, Rearview Mirror, Seat Belts, Sun Visors, Mounts, Nubs, Screws and etcetera are all original. However, many hours were spent preserving them back to its current amazing condition.

*** Everything mechanically works as it should. All gauges, lights, doors, windows, locks, air conditioning, and switches function properly with great quality chrome knobs and switches.

*** Factory AMC AM/FM Cassette radio with original knobs installed with the original factory AM Radio boxed up in the trunk.

*** No non-factory speaker cut outs. Even the factory clock works accurately, but the wire is intentionally unclipped to avoid the battery from discharging when not in use.

*** All original parts that were replaced, like the rarely seen original flat core A/C condenser, starter motor, radio, and Plus many more surprises have been boxed in the trunk and included for sale.

Drive Train

The all original numbers matching and date code correct 304 ci engine starts and runs like a champ with great compression and no exhaust smoke. (See all codes below). ALL components are original from top to bottom. The block, heads, radiator, valves, valve covers, intake manifold, exhaust manifolds, carburetor, and pretty much everything under the hood was confirmed as all OEM stock and date code correct. (See codes below) Block has no cylinder wall wear or sleeves. Even the stock cast crankshaft, cam, connecting rods, aluminum pistons and rings are all original.

***Incredibly retains the very rare original Blackstone radiator and Motor Craft carburetor with factory original paper inspection stickers.

During the extensive preservation process the engine and everything under the hood was disassembled and restored to stock. The motor was painted with the factory correct AMC blue poly “Motor Coater” engine paint. The correct gloss black paint on the original air cleaner and correct reproduction decals re-applied. All other engine bay components were correctly detailed.

The original firewall grommets, connectors, hoses, and etcetera were removed, photographed, and returned undisturbed. The wiring harness is original, uncut, and has all factory connections.

Things like all new correct reproduction Gaskets, Hoses with factory style Clamps, Decals, and new Hood to Cowl Weather-Stripping with correct Metal Retainer were addressed and look and perform as new.

Along with all new maintenance items like new Spark Plugs, Ignition Wires, Cap, Rotor, Fluids, Filters, Belts, Battery, factory rebuilt Power Steering Pump, Master Brake Cylinder, Heavy Duty Alternator, and a new correct Starter Motor.

*** Original factory A/C System, Mounting Brackets, idler Pulley, Hoses, Fittings, Evaporator, Heat Box, and Interior Controls restored with modern refrigerant to blow ice cold.

*** New correct flexible metal air cleaner to exhaust manifold downtube.

*** New correct replacement upper and lower rubber Protective Strips clipped to radiator supports.

*** New reproduction under Hood Insulation and Retaining Clips.

*** All new reproduction Decals, and factory style hose clamps.

*** Factory Original B-W/Chrysler Torque-Command Automatic Transmission and console mounted horse shoe shifter completely refurbished with a mild shift kit.

*** Factory cast exhaust manifolds lead into new dual exhaust pipes, mufflers, and correct reproduction chrome exhaust tips. Low muscular sound outside the car when the accelerator is mashed, but not intrusive to the interior.

*** Sport suspension dampened by semi-elliptic rear leaf springs, independent coil-based front with unequal-length control arms and twin ball joints, coil springs and an anti-roll bar are all original with all new bushings. Freshly detailed to look and function as new.

*** The sturdy and reliable Dana Model 20 solid rear axle operates normally and was correctly painted.

*** Factory Power Front Disc Brakes with single-piston 11.2-inch vented front discs with power assist for the disc/drum two-line brake system all work perfectly. Newly rebuilt pump, brake fluid, lines, hoses, pads, wheel cylinders, freshly resurfaced rotors, bled, and adjusted.

*** Original factory 14 inch wheels and trims rings in amazing unrestored condition. The center sections were freshly painted correct factory color.

*** Modern Michelin radial P195/75R14 tires with full tread life provide better than stock ride and handling.

Detailed photos, videos, paperwork, and maintenance records given to the buyer showing its provenance, life history, and full preservation process.

1964 AMC Rambler

1964 AMC Rambler

Engine: Inline 6
Transmission: 3 Speed Manual
Mileage: 90,122 ( actual )

Gateway Classic Cars of Philadelphia is pleased to welcome this awesome 1964 AMC Rambler. The Rambler is an automobile manufactured by the American Motors Corporation (AMC) between 1958 and 1969. It was the second incarnation of AMC's forerunner. The second-generation Rambler compact was sold under the Nash and Hudson Motors marques from 1954 and 1955. Many viewed the second-generation design as the best looking and were arguably the most attractive compacts of all time in Detroit in the early 1960s. Originally sporting a white paint job, this beautiful Rambler has gone through light restoration work in the last decade as well as routine maintenance. It now sports a fresh coat of bright red paint that really pops with the black leather interior and top. The inline 6 powerplant has had a complete engine rebuild and is paired to the original 3 speed manual transmission. That too was given attention as well with components such as the pressure plate, clutch disk, release bearing being replaced and having the flywheel resurfaced. All necessary bushings and seals were replaced as well. Additional features included with this AMC include an automatic convertible top, AM Radio, Hub Caps and white wall tires that really make a statement either driving down the road or presenting itself stationary in your garage. This Rambler will have you smiling from ear to ear every-time its taken out for a cruise. Its ready to go and the only thing left that this AMC needs is a new owner. A folder full of receipts and paperwork is available to show upon request. Contents are too much to list. To view this 1964 AMC Rambler in greater detail, including HD pictures and an HD video, visit www.GatewayClassicCars.com or our Philadelphia showroom located in West Deptford, NJ. 1969 AMC AMX

1969 AMC AMX

Engine: 390 CID V8
Transmission: 4-Speed Manual
Mileage: 21,376 ( undocumented )

For sale in our Chicago showroom is this incredible 1969 American Motors Corp. (AMC) AMX equipped with the well sought after but optional high-compression medium block 390 CID AMC V8 engine and the Borg Warner T-10 Manual Transmission routed through a Dana 60 Rear end with a 4.88:1 Gear ratio, the 3 matched together was an unbeatable force back in 1969. Labeled the “Corvette Competition,” the AMX offered top-notch performance at an affordable price. The year is 1969, Led Zeppelin has released their first album, The Soviet Union launched Soyuz 4, in the USA the lunar module Eagle/Apollo 11 lands on the lunar surface. An estimated 500 million people worldwide watch in awe as Neil Armstrong takes his historic first steps on the Moon and American Motors Corp. released the anticipated AMX. The AMX offered top-notch performance at an affordable price. Despite this value and enthusiastic initial reception by automotive media and enthusiasts, sales never thrived. The automaker's larger objectives to refocus AMC's image on performance and to bring younger customers into its dealer showrooms was achieved. After three model years, the two-seat version was discontinued. This particular AMX is a beautiful example of one of AMC’s Narliest Cars ever built and it is beautifully painted up in Big Bad Orange. So much care has been taken in the restoration of this Bad Boy even the underside of this car is carefully detailed and painted to show the beauty of this car from bottom to top. The underside is so clean and detailed you really could eat off of it! Some of the options included on this Rear Tire Burning AMX include AM/FM radio, Leather interior, Posi traction, a spare tire and lots more. 1973 AMC Javelin

1973 AMC Javelin

Engine: LS3 6.2L
Transmission: 6 Speed Manual
Mileage: 4,000 ( since rebuilt )

This 1973 AMC Javelin is for sale in our Louisville KY showroom. This 1973 Javelin is unlike any other one on the road. With its apocalyptic theme and Trans Am racer styling this has to be one of the coolest you have seen. The front of the Javelin was treated to a handmade front spoiler which is where the theme starts. Followed onto the front grill with the original parking lights mounted on both sides while the modern LED lights were fitted into the original headlight bezels. The orange satin color is courtesy of a 3M wrap which is a lot more durable than any paint job. The grey stripes over the hood compliment the metal work with AMC and LSX imprinted in them. The rear of the car has been treated to a wide body kit allowing for the monster 335 tires to be placed under the fenders. The rear has been blacked out with the spoiler giving the rear end that trans am racer look. Pop the hood and all you see is custom metal work. From the engine cover to the firewall they nailed the apocalyptic theme. The LS3 engine that lies underneath that metalwork has been outfitted with a cam while a custom tune gets the most out of this small block. Mated up to a T56 6 speed with an ACT twin disc clutch making it extremely durable while having a great pedal feel. The custom 9” rear end has been stuffed Nitro gear and Axle shafts giving you confidence when you want to drop the clutch and lay down some fresh black stripes. Bringing everything to screeching holt is a Wilwood big brake kit with a set of 6 piston calipers upfront and a 4 piston in the rear this is one Javelin that will stop on a dime. The suspension on the car with adjustability in mind and thanks to QA1 coil over front and rear the possibilities are endless. Inside the theme is continued with the rear of the car blocked off by the same metal work while the kicker speakers are loud enough to overcome the exhaust note from that nasty LS3. The gauges go perfectly with the interior complimenting the build nicely. The roll cage not only looks great but adds that extra layer of protection with the harnesses keeping you in the seat in case the unfortunate happens. If you have wanted a car that looks like no other with true modern-day comforts and jaw dropping performance this 73 Javelin is the perfect match. Options on this one off 1973 AMC Javelin include, AC, AM/FM Radio, Power Steering, Vinyl/Cloth Interior, Racing Harness, and Radial Tires mounted on Fuel Alloy Wheels. 1969 AMC AMX

1969 AMC AMX

Engine: 343 CID V8
Transmission: 4-Speed Manual
Mileage: 74,319 ( undocumented )

Gateway Classic Cars of Orlando Florida is proud to offer this 1969 AMC AMX for sale in our Orlando showroom. The AMX is a two-seat GT-style sports car that was produced by American Motors Corporation from 1968 to 1970. The AMX was also classified as a muscle car but differed from other American cars at the time because of its short wheelbase. The name AMX is actually an acronym for American Motors eXperimental, which was a code assigned to concept vehicles in the mid-sixties. The AMX was also the only American-built steel-bodied two-seater of its time, the first since the 1955-1957 Ford Thunderbird, and rivaled the only other two-seat American muscle car: the Chevrolet Corvette. With a short three-year production run, the AMX was discontinued in 1970, and was replaced by the Javelin from ’71-’74. This classic AMX makes quite the statement with the Green Paint covering the cool and vintage bodylines and the original Brown interior. Under the hood of this car is the period correct 343 V8 that has been meticulously maintained and produces a loud rumble that will turn some heads every time the pedal hits the floor. The transmission is 4 Speed Hurst manual with a POSI rear end that really helps this car get up and go! This AMX is truly one of kind. Options on the car include: AM Radio, Power Steering, Vinyl Interior, Seatbelts, and alloy wheels wrapped in raised white letter tires. If you want a wild and powerful muscle car with unforgettable looks and plenty of ponies under the hood, the call today to put it in your garage! This 1969 AMC AMX is for sale in our Orlando Showroom and can be seen in greater detail including 100+ HD pictures and an HD video at www.GatewayClassicCars.com. 1970 AMC AMX

1970 AMC AMX

Engine: 390 CID V8
Transmission: 4 Speed Manual
Mileage: 55,848 ( undocumented )

American Motors stepped into the 2-seater world from 1968 to 1970. The AMC AMX would start a small cult following that is still active today. In 1970, just over 4000 of these rare muscle cars were built. Even fewer of these AMX’s came with the 390 V8. A custom exhaust has been added to take full advantage of the 390’s power. With 325 horsepower on tap and mated to a T-10 Warner 4-speed manual transmission, this car could get sideways in a hurry. We like to call that the fun factor. With all this go, the AMX needs a little bit of whoa as well. This AMX is equipped with power brakes, the fronts are disc brakes, so stopping is much easier in this rig. This AMX has been treated to a custom paint job known as the Shadow Mask Edition. The blacked-out hood really makes the gold paint pop! The power blister hood with scoops and the blacked-out treatment gives this AMX sinister look and lets everybody know this is a force to be reckoned with. A custom aluminum grill finishes off the exterior. Inside, new seat cover, gauge package and radio package have been added to give this AMX a nice clean crisp look. Options for this 1970 AMC AMX include; A/C, AM/FM Radio, CD player, Cassette Player, Power Brakes, Power Steering, Seat Belts, Vinyl Interior, and Custom Wheels with Bias Ply tires. To see this car in better detail, including over 100 high definition pictures and a full length high definition video, please go to www.gatewayclassiccars.com. Powered by the 258 CID Inline 6 cylinder engine making 150 horsepower which is plenty to get this cool compact up and moving. Backing up the I6 engine is a 3-speed Chrysler TorqueFlite automatic transmission which shifts smoothly through all of the gears. The exterior really looks amazing being very straight and coated with a custom paint that at first appears to be black, but once it is in the sun shows the metallic green that gives this Gremlin a very unique look. The chrome bumpers, grille, luggage rack, and other brightwork looks to all be original to the car and in very good shape. The interior in this Gremlin is a great combination of original and restored, the door panels and dash are as they were in the 70s and the carpet and seat covers are newer and in beautiful condition. Shiny chrome Cragar wheels with new radial tires were a fitting choice and finish of the classic look on this 70s compact cruiser. Options include: Air Conditioning, AM/FM radio, vinyl interior, seatbelts, and chrome wheels with radial tires.
