Gateway Classic Cars of Fort Lauderdale is proud to offer this first generation 1967 Pontiac Firebird convertible. Still packing its original “numbers matching” “Sprint” 230 cu in (3.8 L) SOHC inline-six, and 4-spd manual transmission, this Firebird is a great find. Most first generation inline-six engines came equipped with a single-barrel carburetor rated at 165 hp, but this "Sprint" model six came with a four-barrel carburetor, developing 215 hp.

This Firebird hasn’t really seen much cold weather and has spent most of its life in California and Florida. The manual top fits snug and looks great but this convertible looks even better when it’s down. The metallic blue finish over black interior is the perfect match.

Not a lot of options came with these Firebirds from the factory, but recently added was a new Vintage A/C unit and heater, power steering, new electronic ignition, fuel tank and sender, radiator, clutch, new brakes and new tires. If you like cruising to your favorite tunes, then you can enjoy it even better with the new Fusion Hideaway Blue Tooth Stereo located in the center console.

You are going to love cruising in this convertible. Don’t let it get away, call today!

Designed as a pony car to compete with the Ford Mustang, it was introduced February 23, 1967, the same model year as GM's Chevrolet division platform-sharing Camaro.[1] This also coincided with the release of the 1967 Mercury Cougar, Ford's upscale, platform-sharing version of the Mustang,[2][3] The name "Firebird" was also previously used by GM for the General Motors Firebird 1950s and early-1960s concept cars. 1968 Pontiac Firebird

1968 Pontiac Firebird

Engine: 461 CID V8
Transmission: 4 Speed Manual
Mileage: 70,696 ( undocumented )

Originally sold in Denver, Colorado this 3 owner 1968 Pontiac Firebird is has been fully restored and ready for its new owner. It started out life with a 350 cubic inch V8 and a Muncie M21 close ratio 4-speed transmission. It has been completely rebuilt from the ground up with all new suspension, stock springs front and rear as well as all new bushings. The 10 bolt rear end was completely rebuilt and has a new Auburn limited slip spool housing 3.23 gears. Having new disc brakes front and rear help the car stop straight and very quick. Popping the bright red hood reveals the 1967 400 cubic inch Pontiac block that was completely inspected before being rebuilt. Engine is bored .030 over allowing for the 461 stroker assembly to call it home. The short block was assembled by one of the best engine builders in the area and after completion was dyno tuned and tested where it produced peak numbers of 497 horsepower and 570 ft. lbs. of torque. Diving into the list of components that have been built into this power house the bottom end consists of an Eagle crankshaft, forged 4340 rods, SRP forged racing pistons, high press and volume oil pump in a six-quart pan. Taking a look at the top end there is a full roller Comp camshaft, and a set of Edelbrock D port 87cc heads. Cam specifications are 502 int. and 510 exh. lift but with 1.6 ratio rockers lift is closer to actual 530. The engine was built this way to get good lift without excessive duration. Helping transfer all of this power to the ground is a completely brand new Muncie M22 Rock Crusher 4 speed transmission. This 4-speed is a wide ratio that works perfectly with the big engine and higher 3.23 rear end gears. When we said this was a complete restoration we ment it! Even the Ram clutch assembly is brand new with all new linkage. Everything in the drivetrain has been balanced complete with the flywheel and new driveshaft. This Firebird was built for handling and performance at any speed. Taking care of the handling performance up front is a set of BMR tubular upper and lower control arms, large BMR sway bar, and tall upper ball joints. All of the hard work has been done to bring this car to where it is all it needs is someone to take it to car shows or on road trips. Looking at the interior you’ll realize the seats have been re-upholstered with factory style covers. Everything on the dash has been replaced including a new dash pad, instrument cluster was rebuilt and while the owner was in there he replaced the heater core and blower motor. 1973 Pontiac Firebird Formula 400

1973 Pontiac Firebird Formula 400

Engine: 400 CID V8
Transmission: Turbo Hydromatic 400
Mileage: 82,436 ( undocumented )

Gateway Classic Cars of Tampa is proud to offer this excellent 1973 Pontiac Firebird Formula 400 Ram Air. This Formula 400 Firebird checks off all the necessary boxes to make this a worthy car for the first time “Muscle Car” purchaser looking to have fun, or the long-time collector looking to add to an existing collection. The first box to be checked off is “appearance”. How appealing does it look? At first glance, the Navajo Orange is an eye catcher and combines well with the beige bucket interior. The front end looks aggressive and sucks you in with dual snorkel functioning “Ram Air” hood. The sleek, bold styling of the car exudes a classy confident attitude. The second box is “performance”. This Firebird performs just as good as it looks. It boasts a 400 cubic inch numbers matching motor, along with a 4-barrel carburetor and “Ram Air” option. All you need to do is step on the gas to awaken the sleeping giant. Power is transferred from the engine through a Turbo Hydromatic 400 automatic transmission to a 10 bolt posi-traction rear end which now houses 3.42 gears. The third box is “value”. To some this may be the most important box. How do you determine value or forecast value in a car? There are several factors that affect this category: two of which are already checked off. Let’s think in the terms of supply and demand. In 1973, Pontiac only produced 4,622 Formula 400 cars. Many fell victim to the crusher or salvage yard. Some were torn apart and key authentic components were replaced with non-original parts. Others are parked in non-operating condition and rusted out in a field, barn, or garage. Very few of the 4,622 that were produced made it to 2018 with original equipment that were also kept in prestigious condition. Of the 4,622 Formula 400 vehicles, only 533 had the functioning “Ram Air” hood. Yes, this is one of the 533 born with that very special option. Another factor of determining value is, “can you prove the car is what it is?” Yes, with documentation, VIN, data plate, and number stampings, which this 73 Pontiac Firebird Formula 400 Ram Air has. Lastly, with Camaro’s fetching top tier prices, the focus has turned to what the next “Muscle Car” to ignite is. Buying trends are already showing favorable promise to the second-generation Firebirds. When you take all of this into consideration, this car is a trustworthy investment. Most of all, you can hop in and enjoy cruising it while your investment appreciates. You can place a big check mark in this box! Options include (cold) Air Conditioning, Power Brakes, Power Steering, Tilt Wheel, Seat Belts, Vinyl Interior, Raised White Letter Radial Tires, Rally Wheels, and Posi Traction. This 1973 Pontiac Firebird Formula 400 Ram Air is for sale in our Tampa Showroom and can be viewed in greater detail including 100+ HD pictures and an HD video at www.GatewayClassicCars.com.
