Gateway Classic Cars of Ft. Lauderdale is proud to offer this 1966 Excalibur SS Roadster. The Excalibur is considered to be a “Neoclassic” styled after the 1928 Mercedes-Benz SSK. A prototype premiered at the New York City Auto Show 1964, on a Studebaker Lark Daytona chassis and a 290 hp Studebaker R2 289 v8 supercharged engine. When Studebaker ceased its operations soon after, that particular engine was no longer available. They were then fitted with GM Chevrolet 327s, which made the Excalibur a strong performer with a top speed of 134 mph, and capable of doing 0-60 in under 6 seconds. Just over 3,200 Excalibur cars were built, all coming from Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
This particular 1966 Excalibur SS Roadster is a full frame off, nut & bolt restoration, and looks absolutely amazing! Powered by a completely rebuilt factory 327 V8 350hp L79 Corvette engine, this sporty classic has plenty of get up and go. Mated to a World Class T5 transmission, and rack and pinion steering from a Pontiac Sunfire GT, one can’t help but to feel all the enjoyment of real driving. Painted in a stunning Navy Blue and Red with Gold accent, and a matching interior, this 1966 Excalibur SS Roadster is hard to look away from. Looking at the dash you instantly notice the craftmanship and love put into this beauty. The leather hood strap, amber running lights, bright shining chrome, and new wire wheels add perfectly to elegance of this awesome Roadster.
The odometer reads 2602 miles on this 4 owner ’66 Excalibur SS Roadster, so it’s definitely ready to rip and run, turning heads the entire way. An absolute pleasure to drive whether the top is up or down, this thing will take trophies at any car show, and steal hearts at any cruise in. Options on this magnificent 1966 Excalibur Roadster include AC, AM/FM Radio, CD Player, Convertible Top, Full Size Spare Tire and Jack, Power Steering, Tilt Wheel, Seat Belts, Vinyl Interior, Kill Switch, Wire Wheels, and Posi Traction.
