With only 2,246 miles since its complete body-off restoration by Uzzi's Autohaus in 2017, this 1969 Camaro Z28 is a real winner. This two-owner first-gen Camaro was treated to a blasted-to-bare-metal re-color, from its original Fathom Green (paint code 57) to its current Sebring Silver (a '63 Corvette color), and its original Dark Green interior (trim code 723) has been replaced with an all-new black interior with the ever-cool Houndstooth fabric inserts. One would be extremely hard-pressed to find a nicer silver-over-black Z28 today. Its drivetrain starts with a 1968 Z28 302 CID block (#3914678), with heads from a '64/'65 Corvette (#3782461), a Comp Cams CL-12-677-4 bumpstick with appropriate valvetrain, and it's topped by a new Quick Fuel SS 650 carb with Elect/Mechanical secondary sitting on the GM aluminum intake manifold. Spent fossils exit through ceramic-coated Hooker headers into MagnaFlow 12255 mufflers, and make a very nasty exit sound that's definitely meaner-sounding than you remember! Aft of the mill is a Muncie M20 wide-ratio 4-speed (#3925661), which came over from a 1970 SS Camaro. The drivetrain spins a set of 3.73 gears in the GM 12 Bolt rear end (#3894860), originally from a '67 Camaro. Additional goodies include Accel ceramic wires; MSD Street Fire Cap and Rotor kit; new fuel tank; new radiator, fan shroud, hoses and clamps; new rear brakes with new shoes; new GM distributor; new front and rear shocks; new front control arm bushings and coil springs; new rear leaf springs and bushings; new transmission linkage; and front spoiler. With its virtually all-new interior (including those Houndstooth pattern covered seats and new seat belts), the cabin experience is far nicer than when it was new, even! It doesn’t matter where you go, this Z28 is beautiful and will turn heads everywhere. You will go back in time cruising in this classic, that drives WAY better than it did when it first rolled off the Norwood assembly line. A bad to the bone 383 CID V8 stroker engine mated to a smooth and easy driving 4-speed automatic transmission. This one is finished in an excellent red color with white touches and features a red interior. One of the worst parts about classic cars is the heat. Many older cars never had air conditioning. This is a Texas car which means it is probably one of the most valuable additions a driver here could ask for. This one has A/C to keep you cool on those hot days! It also features all aluminum heads for better flow into the engine and a roller cam for increased power and efficiency. The car has a 3500-stall converter which will help getting this monster off the line when you’re staged at the red lights on Friday night! Included with this Camaro is an air suspension system which improves ride quality, comfort and the overall appearance of the car. This car features an AM/FM radio and CD player so you can listen to your favorite tunes as you drive around in your fine piece of American automotive history. The first-generation Camaro appeared in dealerships in 1966 for 1967 model year. A brand-new rear-wheel drive GM F-body platform was created as a 2-door, 2+2, hardtop or convertible, with the choice of a straight 6 or a mighty V8 powerplant. Almost all 1967-1969 Camaros were built in the two U.S. assembly plants in Norwood Ohio and Van Nuys California. There were also five non-U.S. Camaro assembly plants in countries that required local assembly and content. These plants were located in the Philippines, Belgium, Switzerland, Venezuela and Peru. In 1969 the Camaro carried over the previous year’s drivetrain and major mechanical components, but all-new sheet metal, except the hood and trunk lid, gave the car a much sportier look. The grille featured a heavy “V” can’t and deeply inset headlights. The Camaro go new door skins, rear quarter panels and rear valance panel which gave the car a much lower, wider and more aggressive look. The 1969 model year was exceptionally long, extending into November 1969, due to manufacturing problem that delayed the introduction of the second-generation model planned for 1970. It is a popular myth late-'69 Camaros were sold as 1970 models (due to GM publicity pictures of the '69 Camaro labeled as a 1970), but they were all assigned 1969 VIN codes. This car is equipped to keep the driver comfortable all year round with A/C that blows cold and heat that blows hot. If the driver ever tires of the sound of bald eagles escaping from the V8, the included AM/FM radio/CD player will surely come in handy. Gateway Classic Cars of Houston is excited to offer this rare 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Z10 Pace Car Coupe! First, some history of the Z10, as excerpted from Chapter 12 of "The 1969 Camaro Reference Book" by John R. Hooper. PACE CAR HARDTOP - THE Z10 COUPE "Since 1969, the controversy over a Pace Car hardtop has existed. For many years, hobbyists and other so-called experts had different opinions on the existence of these cars. Finally, after many years the truth has come out. Yes, the Z10 Camaro does exist. It is thanks to the many Camaro clubs and enthusiasts whose efforts have brought the facts about these cars to light. The basic Z10 package has Rally Sport and Super Sport equipment, code 50-50 paint, cowl induction hood, and 396 or 350 cubic inch V8 engine. The transmission combinations from the automatic to the four-speeds were the same as the Pace Car convertibles. Most of the Z10 cars had factory air conditioning. Any option that was available for the Z11 Pace Car convertible was also available on the Z10. Different interiors used on the hardtop version consisted of 711 black standard, 712 black custom, 713 black houndstooth, 727 ivory standard, and 729 ivory houndstooth. It is rumored that interior 720 orange houndstooth could also be ordered. Some of the options used were rosewood steering wheel, tilt steering column, fold down rear seat, a factory 3-speed transmission with console on the floor, vinyl roof cover, among others. The Z10 cars were a Southwestern Regional promotional car offered to a small number of dealerships in the Southwestern Branch Zone Office during Indy race time. We know now that they were available in Texas, Wisconsin, Oklahoma, Arizona, and possibly other states. We may never know exactly how many were built, however we believe it to be between 200 and 300 built at Norwood. There were no records kept at Chevrolet Motor Division's offices. Since this was a one-time promotion, the customer did not have a chance to order the car but had to buy it off the dealer's lot. The Z10's appear to have been built between 04C (third week of April) to 05A (first of May) -- possibly longer...While these cars do not compare in rarity with COPO or ZL-1 cars, they still hold a place 1969 Camaro history." Now - about the one we have: like all Z10 Camaros, it is wearing a glistening coat of Dover white, with contrasting Hugger Orange stripes. This one shows a date code of 05A, designating a build date of the 1st week of May, 1969. Under the hood is a 350 CID V8 (300HP), one of the two available engine options for the Z10. The mighty mouse is mated to a smooth shifting Muncie 4 speed manual, which sends the twist to the 12 bolt rear end. Twist the ignition key, and it fires right up into a nice rich burble, sound aided by the addition of some Hooker Competition headers that funnel the exhaust into a well-executed dual exhaust with FloMaster mufflers. Ease it into first, and mash the gas, and you'll remember why you loved these cars so much! While you're cruising, flick on the A/C to keep cool - the system has been upgraded with a new R134 compressor, so it's easily serviceable by any shop. When it's time to get the speed down from the quickly-reached triple digit territory, the front discs are up to the task. Inside, you'll see that the rich black interior looks almost new, with its synthetic leather seating and carpet virtually devoid of any signes of use. The addition of an Autogage cluster by AutoMeter helps the driver keep tabs on critical operating conditions, and the Sunpro Supertach II tach aids in hitting those shift points.
