Now for sale in Gateway Classic Cars of Houston is this modernized and beefy 1984 LS1 powered GMC C-10. One of the irritations with older vehicles is the difficulty of starting a carbureted engine in cold weather, carb tuning and cleaning and general maintenance that goes along with it. The LS1 engine is a modern all aluminum V8 that takes away the headaches of the older designed power plants. Not only is it more reliable, but it is also much better on fuel and allows for generation of big power along with lightweight design. The LS1 is combined with a fantastic and smooth shifting 4L60 transmission. The truck has a posi rear end with 3:42 gearing which allows for great traction and low rpms on the highway. You might want to think of this truck as a modern Trans Am but with the utility of a truck. Best of both worlds! The truck is finished with a white PPG paint and beautiful tan leather interior. It gives the truck a very luxurious feel throughout. Power brakes, power steering, CD player, leather, tilt wheel, alloy wheels and radial tires. All features that you will find on this truck. This is known as the third generation of the Chevrolet/GMC C-10. The third-generation trucks are colloquially known as the "Square-body" or "Box-body" generation. GM's official "Rounded-Line" moniker highlighted the pickup's rounded styling cues that were incorporated into the design. This included rounded windshield corners, rounded corners of the cab roof, rounded-corner doors which cut high into the cab roof eliminating roof height, slanted front fenders, and rounded pickup box corners which allowed for rounded wraparound taillamps, a first for GM pickups. The design also featured strong distinctive curved shoulder lines which rounded out below the beltline. The curved shoulder line continued across the back tailgate on Chevrolet Fleetside and GMC Wideside models. However, the low slope of the hood and rectangular front end of the truck originated the "square/box-body" nickname, which was propagated through truck magazines and word of mouth. GM's design engineers fashioned the "Rounded-line" exterior in an effort to help improve aerodynamics and fuel efficiency, using wind tunnel technology to help them sculpt the body. Other design traits include sleek sculpted body work, an aerodynamic cab with steep windshield rake, and a unique available hidden radio antenna embedded into the windshield glass. You will be hard pressed to find another third generation LS1 powered GMC C-10 that is as nice as this throughout. It has been meticulously built and taken care of. Please reach out to the Gateway Classic Cars of Houston showroom at (832) 243-6220 to learn more about the truck or to learn about purchase and finance options. You can visit the truck in person at 1910 Cypress Station Dr Suite 200, Houston, TX 77090. 1983 GMC Caballero

1983 GMC Caballero

Engine: 350 CID V8
Transmission: Other
Mileage: 5,000 ( since rebuilt )

Now for sale in our Houston Showroom is this classy 1983 GMC Caballero. It’s often forgotten that GMC made their own version of the well-known El Camino made by Chevrolet. The vehicle was originally names the GMC Sprint but that was changed back in ’78 to the Caballero and it remained in production until 1987. This Caballero is powered by a strong running 350 CID V8 that will push you down the road with ease. The engine is mated to a 3-speed Automatic transmission which both were rebuilt roughly 11 years ago. It may be an older rebuild however the car has only been driven an estimated 5,000 miles since the rebuild, meaning there is plenty of life left in this beauty. The true key to this classic is that it’s a 1 owner car with a clean Carfax. The car is painted in a sleek black and silver color combo that shows very well. The car also features a very nice spray-in bed liner to make for a nice work vehicle if it’s ever needed. This Caballero has all the benefits of both a car and a truck all in one. It’s light weight, fast and looks great while at the same time can be used for a quick trip to Home Depot or Lowes. Taking a seat behind the wheel you will find a matching black on silver color combination making this car truly show worthy. You may notice the empty space for a stereo, but this is simply due to the owner enjoying the sound of the car more. When driving a classic that’s all that there should be, you, the car, and the road. No need to worry because the A/C was left in place and blows nice and cold for those hot summer days. 1986 GMC Sierra Classic 1500

1986 GMC Sierra Classic 1500

Engine: 5.0L V8 4BL
Transmission: 700R4
Mileage: 5,736 ( undocumented )

This 1986 GMC Sierra 1500 is for sale in our Louisville KY showroom. The GMC Sierra has long been known as Chevy’s higher end brother. The recent explosion in these mid 80’s trucks has brought out a lot of low mileage examples and this beauty is no different. With the odometer reading a mere 5650 miles, appearing to be original, this is a great example. The Autocheck does show a discrepancy but that does appear to be a simple clerical issue. The black and tan paint appear to be original with the red pinstriping separating the 2 nicely. The spray in bed liner is a great touch and was just installed a couple years ago. Underneath is really where you being to tell that this actual mileage with it being one of if not the cleanest I have seen. Under the hood is the original 305 that still starts right up without any hesitation. The OD transmission with a set of 3.42 gears the truck can easily handle highway speeds. The auxiliary fuel tank will allow you to take a road trip without having to refuel all day long. Inside the cab is where this sierra sets itself apart with a host of options that will make you feel like you’re in a luxury car. The tan is accented with black bringing the outside in and not something seen on trucks of this year. The cloth on the seat is in excellent shape and what is to be expected on such a nice truck. With the door panels being in the same condition it hard to believe this truck is 32 years old. If you have been wanting to get your hands on one of these low mileages 80’s examples that has been meticulously taken care this is the best 86 GMC Sierra out there. Options on this 1986 GMC Sierra 1500 include, AC, AM/FM, Power Steering, Power Brakes, Power Windows, Power Locks, Tilt Wheel, Cruise Control, Seat Belts, Cloth Interior, and Rally Wheels with Radial Tires. 1949 GMC Pickup 3/4 Ton FC152

1949 GMC Pickup 3/4 Ton FC152

Engine: 228 CID I6
Transmission: 4 Speed Manual
Mileage: 165 ( undocumented )

Offered for sale in our Dallas-Fort Worth showroom is this 1949 GMC ¾ Ton Pickup. This special Advance Design pickup has come a long way from its early life on a Mid-Missouri farm. Owned and restored by Dale Jacobs of Dallas, Texas, this 1949 GMC ¾ ton has been down to the frame and came out just a little nicer than new. It’s the old story. It looked very nice and ran just as well but a little extra touch would make it a nicer pickup. Well, the more he got into areas, the more he saw things that just were not quite right. After all it was a farm work truck for so many years. Before long you are tired of seeing so many imperfections, you check your bank account, and say “Let’s just make it a new truck”. It will only take time and money! It was taken down to the bare frame (the easiest part) and the building of the oversize model kit begins. This four-year “frame off” TOTAL restoration project of this “numbers matching” GMC ¾ ton pickup involved doing much research, making local new restoration contacts, and learning so much about early GMC’s. The “Ron Kelly Designs” complete rebuild of this original drivetrain and chassis included the GMC 228 engine long block (.08 over rebore), head, flywheel, clutch, 4-speed on the floor transmission with “granny” gear, drive shaft and rear end, all dynamically balanced. Modifications to improve performance include full-flow oil filtering, dual 2-barrel Stromberg carburetors adaptation to original intake manifold with new linkage, and Fenton dual exhaust headers with custom muffler routing. Dale’s ¾ ton has the optional 17” split rim wheels instead of the stock 15”. (These were original on the 1 ton pickup of these years). The extra 2” gives the truck a higher top end speed and lowers the engine RPM. Good during daily in-town driving. Another very unique fixture is the intake manifold. The original single barrel carburetor intake center hole was blocked off. Then front and rear carburetor receiver openings were installed to hold a pair of two-barrel Stromberg’s. It operates excellent and is probably the only one of its kind in the world! What an eye catcher! He says it easily cruises at almost 70 mph! The chassis rebuild involved frame powder coating, front and rear spring leafs with helpers, Delco lever arm shocks, duel master cylinder brake system, front end and steering linkage with drive box. The electrical system conversion to 12 volts included the original Delco starter and generator, regulator, new Mallory dual point distributor and coil, new wiring harness, 4 corner lighting with halogen headlights and turn signaling. A new water pump, radiator with expansion cylinder and hoses improve the cooling system. All body panels were COMPLETELY disassembled and, along with the cab, subjected to a strip and de-rust total immersion process. Reassembly with new fasteners was preceded by extensive applications of epoxy and urethane primers and initial custom lacquer paint then followed by final lacquer paint and clear coatings. Cab restoration involved new door handles, hinges and panels, headliner with insulation, sun visors, gauge cluster and speedometer, vintage GMC reproduction stereo AM/FM radio and 7 new glass windows allowing a surround view. The air flow heater with control valve and defroster ducts, vacuum wiper motor with linkage, fuel tank with new sender, and all pedal controls were also restored to original specifications. Traversing seat with era appropriate new upholstery allows comfort with a vintage signature. Firewall, roof, floor and doors all received sound deadening applications. Finishing touches include the re-chromed original grill, badging, radiator fan and added dual trumpet horns. Color coordinated powder coated engine side and valve covers enhance the engine bay. Also evident are new bumpers with valences, vintage Unity spot and fog lights, chromed fuel tank linkage, and powder coated original split rim wheels with new 750-17 tires. An eye-catching top grade oak bed and side rails with stainless linings and fasteners complete this classic restoration.
