Now for sale in our Gateway Classic Cars of Houston showroom is this awesome Ford Falcon from 1963. This was the final year for the first generation of the North American Falcon. This Falcon is powered by the inline 6 cylinder Mileage Maker engine that Ford designed to achieve a staggering 30mpg! The Falcon went on to be the basis for which the legendary Mustang was based. The Falcon Sprint was a limited production version of the Falcon which was nearly mechanically identical to the 1964 ½ Mustang. With a length of 181 inches and a wheelbase of 109.5, the Falcon was one of Ford’s smaller vehicles. Construction was unibody and suspension was fairly standard with coil springs in the front and lead springs in the rear. Brakes were drums all around and a the two-speed Ford-O-Matic automatic transmission was an additional option from the 3-speed manual that was the base transmission. The market shift which spurred the development of the Falcon and it’s competitors also precipitated the demise of several well-established marques in the late 1950s and early 1960s. Edsel, Nash, Hudson, DeSoto and Packard nameplates all disappeared from the marketplace. Robert McNamara, a Ford executive who became Ford's president briefly before being offered the job of U.S. Defense Secretary, is regarded by many as "the father of the Falcon". McNamara left Ford shortly after the Falcon's introduction, but his faith in the concept was vindicated with record sales; over half a million sold in the first year and over a million sold by the end of the second year. This is a survivor car and should be appreciated as such. It hasn’t been modernized like many have been. You will find an AM radio, hub caps and radial tires. You will be pleased to know that the headlights, brights, turn signals, parking lights, reverse lights, wipers, brake lights, gauges, radio, heat and horn all work! 1962 Ford Galaxie 500XL

1962 Ford Galaxie 500XL

Engine: 352 CID V8
Transmission: 3 Speed Automatic
Mileage: 69,559 ( actual )

This 1962 Ford Galaxie 500XL Convertible is for sale ion our Louisville KY showroom. The Galaxie was Ford’s answer to GM’s extremely popular Impala. The Galaxie 500 nameplate was added to the 59 Fairlane as a top of the line trim level in 1959. In 1960 it became its own car with its own style and engine packages. This 62 is a great example of what you would expect in 1962. The white paint is in excellent condition with the simple flick of a switch activating the power top. With the top out of the way an extremely nice stock black vinyl interior is easily exposed. With the buckets eats upfront separated by a console which houses the shifter a rare option for 62. The white paint is clean and shows extremely well with the chrome fender skirts complimenting that old school look. The trim ties in with those big chrome bumpers while black accents bring it all together. Open that long hood and one of the cleanest engine compartments I have seen is glaring back at you. The FE series 352 gets the car going down the road nicely with plenty of low end grunt to get you going. Drop that shifter into drive and let the cruise-o-matic do the rest. Shifting through all 3 gears nicely this car is meant to hit the road and cruise. If you have been wanting to get a classic 60’s era drop top that runs as good as it looks this 62 Galaxie is the one for you. Options on this 1962 Ford Galaxie 500XL convertible include, AM Radio, Power Steering, Power Top, Hubcaps, and Radial Tires. 1963 Ford Fairlane 427 Drag Wagon

1963 Ford Fairlane 427 Drag Wagon

Engine: 427 CID V8 425HP
Transmission: 3 Speed Automatic
Mileage: 67,561 ( undocumented )

Now available in our DFW-Showroom is this stunning 1963 Ford Fairlane Drag Wagon. The name is derived from Henry Ford's estate, Fair Lane, near Dearborn, Michigan. This 1963 Ford Fairlane wagon has been a drag racer in the Pacific Northwest for many years.it has extensive race history with Oregon Ford Dealers association,a very historic car that spent a lot of its life owned by Ford motor company and was on Ford’s race team it was restored a couple years ago with all decals placed in original location. After it's time with Ford, it was later sold to Mooneyes Equipment, raced in Oregon, California, and even Japan! We have seen many Thunderbolt Tributes, but never one based on a wagon, and this one is even better because it has real history. It has a modernized engine, yet the exterior retains older paint and graphics. Fantastic! The car sits right and the staggered steel wheels with long Moroso studs, which cannot be beat. The rear suspension and wide 11.5" Mickeys are nicely tucked underneath and don’t really hint at their increased capability. The red interior offers a nice contrast and doesn’t dig the Sun sweep tachometer on the dash and the roll-bar that extends back into the cargo area. The stock bench and steering wheel look great! The engine is the best part of the car and sets it apart from the small blocks we typically seen in wannabe T-bolts and Fairlane drivers. It combines a 427 block with twin 600 CFM carbs under a proper looking airbox and T-bolt headlight duct system. The transmission is a built C6. If you’re ready to stand out in a crowd or simply haul “butt” away from them, this is the vehicle for you!
