Now for sale in our Houston showroom is this gorgeous 1968 Ford Mustang. 1968 was the first year Ford introduced the 302 CID V8 which was an upgrade from the 289 CID V8. The changes from 1967 included received revised side scoops, a new designed steering wheel, gasoline caps, & side marker lights were also added that year.
This beautiful 68 Stang has been treated to a frame off restoration back in 2009. The car was repainted in Dupont Ford Race Red back in May of 2015 (we have color codes) by Brock Collision in Houston, TX and it shows very well. The cars exterior bumpers, trim, emblems, & glass are all in great condition. The rear of the car features a Shelby GT/CS fiberglass trunk with a ducktail spoiler.
Powering this restomod is a 302 CID V8 that is out of a 91 Mustang that was professionally rebuilt with forged internals & aluminum heads back in 2014. The engine runs extremely strong and begs to revved, & really you should hear this thing rumble for yourself. The thirsty V8 is coupled to a World Class Tremec T5 5-speed manual transmission that shifts effortlessly into each gear. The Tremec T5 spins 4.11 gears within a Ford 9-inch rear end with Moser axles with Detroit lockers. With those two barely broken in drive train components this car has many years of road ahead of it.
The car features a new black vinyl interior to is in fantastic condition with little to no evidence of wear. The door panels are custom color matched painted for a nice custom look. The carpet, headliner, & dash follow in the same fashion and look great. On the steering column is a custom shift light with RPM readout & a custom hurst shifter on the floor. The car sits on very nice 15-inch Weld racing wheels that are wrapped in Cooper Cobra tires that are like new with plenty of tread left on them. The car has a full book of receipts from the owner from when it was restored until we received it. The car drives extremely well and it is a pure blast to drive. This is not your normal 302 Stang, this one has plenty of show & go! The car features slotted & drilled front disc brakes with drum brakes in the rear.
Other notable features on this sweet ride include: color matched engine bay components, AM/FM radio, power brakes, tilt steering wheel, vinyl interior, racing wheels, & custom gauge pod mounted to driver’s side pillar. This car is very well built and is a real pleasure to drive. For more information on this 1968 Ford Mustang call the Houston Showroom at 832-243-6220 or email houston@gatewayclassiccars.com
