This 1955 Ford Thunderbird is for sale in our Louisville KY showroom. Although many will compare the early T birds or baby birds to the Corvette that is not what Ford was shooting for. The Bird was supposed to be an upscale 2 seater convertible and created a whole new segment known as the personal luxury car. It would be loved by car people but practicality was not one of its strong suites which would kill the original design in just 3 years. Though it would go on for quite some time and grow in both popularity and size these baby birds are the ones that still have the collector’s heart. This 55 is a splendid example of what the collector market is searching for. The red paint is silky smooth and is probably better than you would get from the factory back then. Of course, the white hard top is a great contrast and yet still the best part of it all is the car is exactly the way it left the factory. Yes, this is an original red/white car which in many opinions is the most desirable combo. With all the chrome accents, there is no way you will go unnoticed in this red beauty. The interior is finished back to the way it was as well with the powered bench seat covered in matching red and white vinyl. Take the hardtop off and you’re good to go on that relaxing Sunday cruise but you always take the chance of running into some rain. With this baby bird having a soft top stored behind the seat the problem is solved. Tilt the hood forward and the classic Y block is right at home and looks as if the car was made around it. Maintaining the original 6 Volt/Generator setup this Red bird is ready to fly. The automatic transmission or Ford-o-Matic shifts out nicely especially under hard acceleration. If you have wanted a great car to add to your collection or just a T bird fanatic either way this little drop top is ideal. Options on this 1955 Ford Thunderbird include; Vinyl Interior, Power Seats, Manual Convertible Top, Hub Caps, and Wide White Wall Radial Tires. Engine: 292 CID V8
Transmission: 3 Speed Manual
Mileage: 82,125 ( undocumented )

Showroom is this 1955 iconic Ford Thunderbird! The Thunderbird was considered a more dignified, personal luxury cruiser during its release. It had roll-up windows and standard V-8 power, both things that were not available on the first Corvettes in the 50’s. Other features included a removable fiberglass top, a fabric convertible top, and fender skirts for the rear wheels. There was one engine for the first 1955 T-Birds, and it was the 292 cid Y-Block V-8 fitted with a single four-barrel carburetor. With the standard 3-speed manual transmission, this engine made 193 horsepower, and with the optional Ford-o-Matic transmission, it made 198 horses. The exhaust pipes for the Thunderbird were integrated into the rear fascia and above the rear bumper, giving it an unmistakable Jet-Age look. This Thunderbird has a production date of, October 23rd-1954 and is one of the first 500 Thunderbirds manufactured! It still has the original 292 cu in Y-block V8 with a 3-speed manual, plus overdrive transmission. According to the owner, who’s owned it for the last 21 + years, this car has only 81,000 original miles! Other original parts to this vehicle include- Original Hardtop, Fender-skirts, Power seat, and Original AM radio for aesthetic purposes- (which isn’t functioning due to a 12-volt conversion). Other upgraded features include: Halogen headlights, LED tail lights, Interior seat, foam, door panels, carpet, dash cover, hardtop-headliner, H.D. radiator, 6 blade fan, 12-volt electrical conversion, Pertronics ignition, alternator, Holly 4000 barrel carburetor totally rebuilt, radial tires, and a space-saver spare. This is a strong running and great driving vehicle. If you’re looking a for a Thunderbird you can take out on the road and enjoy a cruise, look no further, you’ve found it! Mileage: 51,210 ( undocumented )

Gateway Classic Cars of Las Vegas is proud to present this 1957 Thunderbird that is for sale in our Las Vegas Showroom. The Thunderbird entered production for the 1955 model year as a sporty two-seat convertible. Unlike the Chevrolet Corvette, it was not marketed as a sports car. Ford positioned the Thunderbird as an upscale model and is credited in developing a new market segment, the personal luxury car. Though sharing some design characteristics with other Fords of the time, such as single, circular headlamps and tail lamps and modest tailfins, the Thunderbird was sleeker and more athletic in shape, and had features like a hood scoop and a 150 mph (240 km/h) speedometer hinting a higher performance nature that other Fords didn't possess. Mechanically though, the Thunderbird could trace its roots to other mainstream Fords. The Thunderbird's 102.0 inches wheelbase frame was mostly a shortened version of that used in other Fords. This car has been repainted a number of years ago but still looks great. It has a power seat, Town & Country seeking radio, and muffler just replaced. This 1957 Ford Thunderbird is for sale in our Las Vegas Showroom and can be seen great detail including 100+ HD pictures and an HD video at www.GatewayClassicCars.com. For additional information please call our knowledgeable staff at (702) 830-9215 or email us at LasVegas@GatewayClassicCars.com. 1957 Ford Thunderbird

Engine: 312 CID V8
Transmission: 3 Speed Automatic
Mileage: 96,937 ( undocumented )

Now available in our DFW-Showroom is this 1957 Ford Thunderbird. For 1957, the Ford Thunderbird underwent some visual changes. Most notably, the front bumper was reconfigured, removing the large chrome nacelles, and adding fog lights to the corners. This opened the grille visually, and made it seem more like the luxurious boulevard cruiser that it was. The “Thunderbird” inscription was moved from the rear quarter to ahead of the front quarter panel vent. Out back, the spare tire was moved back into the trunk, and the rear fascia was revised. The fins were thinned out and more pronounced, and the rear bumper featured a new design. At the corners of the bumper, the once-subtle exhaust outlets were replaced with wider integrated outlets. This Thunderbird was purchased by the current owner 18 years ago, in a small Texas city. Since purchasing the owner has done some work to update and keep this ride on the road. In 2007 he replaced: Shocks, U-Joints, Seals, Motor Mounts, Leaf Springs, Bushings, Ball joints, Coils, Steering pump, and Brakes. In 2013 he replaced: Fuel tank, Fuel pump, Hoses and rebuilt the Carburetor. This Thunderbird is powered by a healthy sounding 312 Y-Block V-8 motor and is connected to a 3-Speed automatic transmission. Other options include: A/C-colonial white/black & white vinyl, power seats, power steering, wide white wall radial tires, and wire wheels. Some new owner will enjoy taking this Thunderbird out cruising soon… will that be you? To view this vehicle in greater detail including HD pictures and videos, visit www.GatewayClassicCars.com. Engine: 312 CID V8
Transmission: 2 Speed Automatic
Mileage: 36,092 ( undocumented )

We are excited to offer for sale in our Gateway Classic Cars Saint Louis Showroom this first generation Ford Thunderbird. The Ford Thunderbird began life in February 1953 in direct response to Chevrolet's new sports car, the Corvette. Production of the Thunderbird began later on in 1954 on September 9 with the car beginning sales as a 1955 model on October 22, 1954 and sold exceptionally well in its first year; outselling theCorvette by more than 23-to-one for 1955 with 16,155 Thunderbirds sold against 700 Corvettes. With the Thunderbird considered a success, a few changes were made to the car for 1956. The most notable change was moving the spare tire to a continental-style rear bumper in order to make more storage room in the trunk and a new 12 volt electrical system. You'll be happy to hear that this low (actual) mileage classic Thunderbird has been held by the same family for nearly three decades and was stored for most of that time. The interior and body was repainted in 2016, but these are still the original panels, engine, and interior components. The smooth drive of one of Ford's most beautiful designs is a standard 312 cu in (5.1 L) V8 that was engineered to produce 245 horsepower (183 kW). With its classic look, colors, lines, white-wall tires, and low body, this Thunderbird is a great find and will a its next owner very proud to have and to hold onto. Thank you for your interest in this sharp 1955 Ford Thunderbird presented by Gateway Classic Cars of Tampa. One of the most beautiful pieces of Americana, they were considered to be direct competition to the Chevrolet Corvette. Helping spawn a new generation of automobiles in the United States, and aimed to take on the European market, the Ford Thunderbird was powered by a 292 CID V8, which gave the already smaller, lighter car the power it needed to make for both an excellent road racer as well as the perfect car for older couples to sit back and enjoy a movie at the drive-in. Mated to the engine is a 2-speed automatic transmission, which allowed the car for fairly smooth shifting, but in the higher gear allowed the vehicle to cruise at highway speeds without drinking too much gas. The interior of this car is a beautiful red and white two tone seating, with red carpets throughout. The hard-top is painted in white to give the car a two-tone look. Take the top off to enjoy the beautiful weather in absolute style! The exterior is painted to match the interior, with a stunning bright red paint job with a new black top that really gives the car a high quality 1950's kind of feel. Driving a 1955 Ford Thunderbird is truly an experience one simply cannot explain, these cars are the truest form of Americana one can find. Options include AM Radio, Hub Caps, Seat Belts, Vinyl Interior, Wide White Walls, Wire Wheels, Power Steering, Power Brakes and Power seat.
