This 1965 Ford Mustang Fastback 2+2 is for sale in our Louisville KY showroom. The 65 Fastback was an instant success as soon as it went on sale. With the know how of a guy named Carrol Shelby the car would be great track weapon and helped to propel the fastback to legendary status. People still today love the lines and the relatively small size of these cars making them perfect candidates for some serious performance upgrades. This 65 is a great example of exactly that keeping the body lines and simply pumping up the performance aspect. The red paint is clean and shows very well with the white strip right above the rockers breaking up the red nicely. The scoop on the hood helps to give the car that aggressive look. The Magnum 500 Wheels are classic Mustang and finish off the exterior of this 2+2 nicely. Under the hood is a recently built 331 stroker motor that only has 1000 miles since being built. A full roller motor this is an engine that will last. The Comp cam is the perfect mix of bottom end grunt while having a nice top end pull. The Trick Flow aluminum heads are a great set and really allow this small block to perform at its best. Exhaust gas is taken out through the headers and into dual 2.5” pipes all the way back allowing for a nice and deep sound. Backing up that 331 is another top of the line component, a TKO 600 allowing for complete control. The Moser 9” rear-end with a true-trac diff allows for nice smoky burnouts. The Cal-trac monoleaf springs and traction bars help to place the power on the ground while stiffening up the rear. When you have the ability to go this fast you need to be able to stop as well. The 4-wheel Wilwood set up has that part taken care of allowing for aggressive stops with very little pedal fade. Inside the seller has went with an original style interior with a couple custom touches. The dash has been built and installed using AFR gauges with a very straight forward layout. The shifter is in the perfect spot with the E-brake moved to a handbrake position. If you have been wanting to get into a great looking 65 Fastback that performs just as good this red 2+2 is the car for you. Options on this 1965 Ford Mustang Fastback 2+2 include; AM Radio, Spare Tire and Jack, Seat Belts, Vinyl Interior, Posi-Traction, and Alloy Wheels with Radial Tires. Thank you for your interest in this sleek 1965 Ford Mustang located in our Tampa location. This car is a true piece of Ford history that simply turns heads anywhere it cruises by. The Twilight Turquoise green paint scheme with black vinyl top have made this car really stand out against other Mustangs in its class and is the way this car came from the factory when it was new. This rare 200 CI 6 cylinder and 3 speed manual transmission have been completely rebuilt just under 11,000 miles ago. The 200 CI 6 is rated at 120 horse power but sure feels like more. Contrary to popular belief, the first model year for the Ford Mustang was 1965. Mustangs produced between March 9th and July 31st of 1964 are often coined the 1964 ½ Ford Mustang by enthusiasts, but for all intents and purposes, the cars are 1965 models on paper. The 1965 Mustang listed is built after the time line and is an actual 1965 with the 200 inline 6. This particular Mustang has been restored and redone about 7 years ago and has a 170 sticker on the air breather but it is in fact the 200 due to there being 5 freeze plugs in the block. It has recently had new tires and brakes put on it. The overall condition of the paint, interior, and engine in my opinion would rate as show quality. This car has many options like Air conditioning, AM/FM radio, black vinyl interior, and even white wall tires which makes the cars driving ability comfortable. If you are looking for the first classic car investment or even adding to one and need that super clean Mustang, this is the car for you. This 1965 Mustang is for sale in our Tampa Showroom and can be viewed in greater detail including 100+ HD pictures and an HD video at www.GatewayClassicCars.com. Engine: 289 CID V8
Transmission: Automatic
Mileage: 4,607 ( undocumented )

The year is 1965, Racing driver Jim Clark wins the Indianapolis 500, and later wins the Formula One world driving championship in the same year. While this gorgeous Ford Mustang rolls off the assembly line, trying to keep up with the demand of the public. Now recently rebuilt starting with the 289 V8, A/C, power steering, backed by an automatic transmission, digital dash, vinyl interior. Lee Iacocca's assistant general manager and chief engineer, Donald N. Frey was the head engineer for the T-5 project—supervising the overall development of the car in a record 18 months—while Iacocca himself championed the project as Ford Division general manager. The T-5 prototype was a two-seat, mid-mounted engine roadster. This vehicle employed the German Ford Taunus V4 engine. It was claimed that the decision to abandon the two-seat design was in part due to the increase in sales the Thunderbird had seen when enlarged from a two-seater to a 2+2 in 1958. Thus, a four-seat car with full space for the front bucket seats, as originally planned, and a rear bench seat with significantly less space than was common at the time, were standard. A "Fastback 2+2", first manufactured on August 17, 1964, enclosed the trunk space under a sweeping exterior line similar to the second series Corvette Sting Ray and European sports cars such as the Jaguar E-Type coupe. Favorable publicity articles appeared in 2,600 newspapers the next morning, the day the car was "officially" revealed. A Mustang convertible also appeared in the James Bond film Goldfinger in September 1964 To view the car in greater detail, including an HD video and 100+ HD pictures please visit www.gatewayclassiccars.com or our Denver showroom. Engine: I6 200ci
Transmission: 3 Speed Manual
Mileage: 13,242 ( since rebuilt )

Gateway Classic Cars is pleased to offer this All-American classic 1965 Ford Mustang. First introduced as a 1964 ½ model, the Mustang instantly took the world by storm and created an entirely new segment in the automobile industry. The popularity of the Mustang has never waned, and it still dominates the sporty 2-door segment even today. This blue drop-top beauty has been in the same family since the 1990’s. The Mustang still shows well, despite having an older restoration. There are a few areas that could use some attention, but this pony car still has good bones and would make a great “fair weather driver” or a kick-off point for a fresh restoration. A newer white convertible top and newer boot match the nice white vinyl interior. Power comes from the 200CID 6-cylinder mated to a 3-speed manual transmission, both of which have been rebuilt by a specialty shop in Greenfield, Indiana. The car has been garaged recently and has had very few miles driven since 2015-2016. It’s time to get this pony back on the road! Drop the top and take a cruise in style in one of the most iconic automobiles ever built. Be sure to visit our webpage at www.gatewayclassiccars.com to view 100+ HD pictures, as well as a short video of the Mustang in action. 1965 Ford Mustang Fastback

1965 Ford Mustang Fastback

Engine: 289 CID V8
Transmission: 5 Speed Manual
Mileage: 16,467 ( since rebuilt )

For sale in our Dallas-Fort Worth showroom is this 1965 Ford Mustang fastback. This gorgeous Mustang Fastback was fully restored 15 years ago and just had a gorgeous fresh full paint job! Powered by a mildly built 289 backed by a 5-speed manual transmission and putting power to the ground through a 8” Currie rear end with 3.55 gears, this baby will move! This pony car is made much more enjoyable to drive with 4-wheel Wilwood disc brakes and cold blowing A/C. The A/C is R134-A, so it is cheap and easy to recharge if it ever needs it. Other options include vinyl interior, seat belts, radial tires, aluminum alloy wheels, AM/FM/CD player, and fold down rear seat. During the restoration most of the metal on the car was replaced with new to make for a very solid Fastback! New exhaust including new manifolds and full dual exhaust was just done in 2015 along with high back bucket seats, and a new hydraulic clutch. The front end of this 65 was given a 66 grill which most people prefer as it is a cleaner look. Badging and emblems are kept to a minimum to maintain that smooth and clean look all around the car. 1965 was the first year for the mustang and is split into 2 categories: Early 1965 which is also known as the 1964 1/2 cars, and Late 1965 which include beauties like this example. There were small differences between the two, but the latter did use an alternator instead of a generator which almost everyone will agree was an upgrade. The fold down rear seat is the reason these cars were called 2+2s. You had a two-seat cruiser with the back seat folded down or you could put it up and seat 2 more passengers. Don’t miss your chance to own a very solid 65 Mustang priced on the lower end of the market! Powering the beauty is a 302 CID V8 that’s been paired to a 3-speed automatic transmission. The truck was built by “Hill’s Hot Rods” out of Lubbock, TX back in 2011 but took over 4 years and claimed to more than $200,000 into the build. The truck also features Doug’s headers, Edlebrock carburetor, and an aluminum Be Cool radiator to ensure proper cooling of the strong running engine. The truck rides smooth with upgraded suspension to include tubular upper and lower control arms, adjustable coil over shocks in the rear, and Bilstein shocks in the front. To give the truck some nice flare, the valve covers, and air cleaner were sprayed in a very nice bronze color. The truck has a very sleek paint job with a 2-tone color combo. The lower layer is a soft cream color that is topped off with a maroon that looks almost like a root beer when shining in the sunlight. This color combo is not seen often and is certainly a head turner. If you are looking for a truck that will let you stand out in a crowd, then this is the one for you. Winning numerous awards through the years to include taking 12th place at Good Guys back in 2011. The truck sits on a nice set of Bonspeed wheels 18” in the front and 20” in the rear.
