The Ford Torino was produced between 1968-1976 and most remembered for the red/white 1975 “Starsky & Hutch” special and several NASCAR racing adaptations. The car was named after the city of Turin, Italy (pronounced “Torino” in Italian) considered the Detroit equivalent in Italy. The Torino Cobra, fitted with a 429cid (7.0 L) “Cobra-Jet” engine was the no-nonsense pure performance model. While the Torino GT was trimmed with a non-functional hood scoop, the 1970 429 Cobra featured a real version attached to the air cleaner assembly that protruded through a hole in the hood. This became known as a “shaker” due the fact that it vibrated when the engine was running. The 429 CJ is rated at 370 hp and includes a 2-bolt main block and hydraulic lifters. This Marti documented, 1970 stunner has a 1971 replacement engine mated to the original 3.91 Traction-Lok differential and four-speed close-ratio manual transmission. The ginger interior offsets the frame-off restored red exterior nicely. The car rolled off the assembly line on January 22, 1970 in Dark Ivy Green Metallic paired with the same ginger interior. Take a look at this 1970 Ford Torino Cobra, it was off the streets in the 1970’s and stored in a hay barn in Wisconsin, this car has just completed a 2 year ground up restoration. Everything was brought back to factory specifications using original and new old stock (NOS) parts whenever possible. The engine is a numbers matching Ford 429 Cobra Jet with factory ram air and shaker hood (J code), the engine was fully rebuilt and runs like a top! The transmission is also a numbers matching Ford top loader 4-speed with a Hurst competition super shifter, this was rebuilt to stock specifications and shifts flawless. The rear end is an original Ford 9” with 4.30 gears, 3.00 gears will also come with the car. The shocks are all new built to stock specifications with staggered rear shocks. The interior is a rare bench seat / 4 speed combination restored to original condition with new carpet, upholstery and headliner, the door panels are original, so is the dash, instruments including the factory ribbon tachometer. It is coated in the factory Calypso Coral with hood blackout treatment, the rear window slats are original, and were optioned on this car, so are the 15x7 Magnum 500 wheels. The Atlanta Showroom is offering this 1970 Ford Mach 1. The Mach 1 package was only available in the 'SportsRoof' body style (previously known as the 'Fastback'); never on the hardtop or convertible. Many resto-mod visual conversions have since been performed by owners and enthusiasts, but are not Mach 1's by VIN code. The Mach 1 started with V8 powered 'Sportsroof' body and added numerous visual and performance enhancing items such as matte black hood treatment with hood pins, hood scoop (including optional Shaker scoop), competition suspension, chrome pop-open gas cap, revised wheels with Goodyear Polyglas tires, chrome exhaust tips (except 351W 2V), deluxe interior, livery and dealer optional chin spoiler, rear deck spoiler, and rear window louvers (SportSlats). Mach 1s came with upgraded suspension to varying degrees dependent upon powertrain choices. Big block cars had front shock tower reinforcement, thicker sway bars (no rear bar for 69), and heavier springs and shocks. 428 CJ/SCJ 4 speed cars also came with staggered rear shocks. Standard on Mach 1s was a fierce but cosmetic hood scoop that had integrated turn-signal lights mounted in the back. A more functional option was the signature "Shaker hood", an air scoop mounted directly to the top of the motor, used to collect fresh air and so named for its tendency to "shake" above the rumbling V-8 below. The interior came complete with teak wood grain details, full sound deadening material and high-back sport bucket seats. Ford kept the Mach 1 alive into 1970 and little changed other than the visuals. The 1970 body included dual-beam headlights with the previous inner headlights becoming sport lamps and recessed taillights on a black honeycomb rear panel, side scoops behind both doors removed, revised bucket seats, deep dish sports wheel covers, as well as new side and rear badging and striping were the main visual differences. 1970 saw the previous 351W V8 engine options replaced with a new 351 cu in (5.8 L) Cleveland (351C) V8 in either 2V (for use with 2-venturi carbs) or 4V (for use with 4-venturi carbs) versions. The 351C 4V (M code) engine featured 11.0:1 compression and produced 300 bhp (224 kW; 304 PS) at 5400 rpm. This new performance engine incorporated elements learned from the Ford 385 series engine and the Boss 302, particularly the poly-angle combustion chambers with canted valves and the thin-wall casting technology. For sale in our Dallas/Fort Worth Showroom is a 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 302. The Camaro/Mustang rivalry had begun in 1967 with the introduction of the Chevrolet Camaro by General Motors. The Camaro was the largest threat to the lead Ford had in the "pony car" field, a market segment largely created by Ford with the introduction of the Mustang in mid-year 1964. The performance of the Mustang with 289 and 390 engines was not up to the Camaro, with its small block and big block V8. In an effort to improve the Mustang's image Ford made a 428 Cobra Jet V8 and a Ford Boss 302 engine optional for the 1968 mid-year and 1969 models, respectively. The 1969–70 Boss 302 (Hi-Po) engine was created in 1968 for the SCCA's 1969 Trans-Am road racing series. Available in the Boss 302 Mustangs of 1969–70, it's a unique Ford small-block engine featuring a thin-wall, high nickel content block casting. It differed substantially from regular 302s, with 4-bolt mains, screw in freeze plugs, and heads using a canted valve design being developed for the planned 351 Cleveland (which debuted the following year). The construction was aided by the two engines sharing a cylinder head bolt pattern, though the Boss 302 heads had to have their coolant passages slightly modified. This optional engine, and indeed the entire vehicle package, including handling and aerodynamic aids, was made available for the express purpose of meeting the guidelines to compete in the SCCA Trans-Am series, which limited engine displacement to 305 C.I.D. Built with simplicity in mind, this 1950 Ford F-1 is equipped with only the essentials but did not have any expense spared during the process. The heart and soul of this pick up is a completely rebuilt 1950 Ford flathead V8 bored .60 over and roughly 1,500 miles since completion. The lope at idle provided by the Comp Cams Thumpr (#41-600-7) is the only music you will need on your ride and is very distinguishable sound. Also equipped is Offenhauser pistons, Mahle rings, Isky valve spring, and Ford rods, crank and block. Hooked up behind the flathead is a 3-speed manual transmission rebuilt at the same time as the engine and shifts smoothly between gears. The cab of the truck is still the 1950 Ford F-1 but has been heavily modified to give it the much sleeker look it has now. 6” of the top were sliced out to bring the profile lower and was moved 18” further back on the frame allowing it to run without fenders. The hood was custom built for this truck and transitions smoothly into the 1943 International fire truck grill. The bed was also built specially for this truck and matches the rest of the build very well. Slide inside the truck and you will wonder if it is even functional with how simplistic it is. The metal dash is smooth with only three gauges; Water temp left side, Oil pressure, Water temp right side. The custom bench seat sits low in the cab giving plenty of head room for all and a very comfortable driving position. All of the electronic connections have been mounted in a box behind the seat keeping the cab uncluttered and everything easily accessible. One cruise in this truck and you will be hooked! The ride is smooth and comfortable, the exhaust note will give you chills and surprisingly is not overbearingly loud and will turn heads everywhere it goes. For sale in our St. Louis Showroom is a green 1931 Ford Slant Window Sedan. The green body is accented with dark green fenders, that feature a bit of metallic flake throughout, and ghost flames on the front fenders stretching back. The steel wheels have been painted dark green and have chrome moon dish hub caps, completing the classic street rod look. On the inside you will find the door panels and rear seat are finished in dark green and tan vinyl upholstery. The front seat was swapped out at some point for late model gray cloth seats. A tilt steering wheel helps the easy in and easy out factor of this street rod, as it seems we are larger humans today, compared to 1931. Powering this 31’ Ford is a 350 CID Crate V8 engine with aluminum valve covers and an Edelbrock intake, carburetor, and air cleaner. A TH-350 automatic transmission with a Lokar shifter transfers the power to the Ford 9” rear end that houses 3.00 gears. The odometer reads 1,100, which is believed to represent the mileage put on the car since the build was complete.
