Looking for a 1987 Monte Carlo SS Aero Coupe… Look no further! In ’87, the Chevrolet Monte Carlo coupe, model 1G, came in LS and SS versions. A V-6 was standard in the LS and the V-8 version listed for $11,746 or $440 more than the V-6. The V-8-only Monte Carlo SS (RPO Z37/Z65) had a base price of $13,463. The Aerocoupe listed at $14,838 without any add-on extras. The main difference between the 1986 version and the 1987 edition was the placement of decals on the front doors. All 200 of the 1986 Aerocoupes, which were actually finished by Cars and Concepts of Brighton, Mich., were white with burgundy interiors. The following year, when the cars were done completely on the regular Pontiac production line, they were available in white, black, gray and burgundy. Powering the 3,528-lb. Aerocoupe was the high-output Super Sport version of the 5.0-liter (305-cid) small-block V-8, which produced 180 net hp. It came attached to a four-speed overdrive automatic transmission. The Monte Carlos used body-on-frame construction and rode on 108-inch wheelbases. Disc brakes in front and drum brakes in back did the stopping. The carburated small-block could push the speedometer up over 115 mph, but magazine tests at the time found the cars clocked only high-16s for the quarter-mile. We have a beautiful Black Aero Coupe that is in amazing condition. Take this home and have a great ride for the summer and a even better conversation piece at your favorite cruise night!

1987 Chevrolet El Camino

1987 Chevrolet El Camino

Engine: 305 CID V8
Transmission: 3-Speed Automatic
Mileage: 64,005 ( undocumented )

Gateway Classic Cars of Houston is proud to offer this awesome, rare, and numbers-matching 1987 Chevrolet El Camino SS Choo-Choo! These Choo-Choo El Caminos are highly desirable and hard to come by. The original El Camino SS was produced by Choo-Choo Customs for GM from mid-1983 until the El Camino series was discontinued at the end of 1987. In addition to the aerodynamic nose treatment that was the primary styling feature of all El Camino SSs, all vehicles received graphics on the fascia, doors and tailgate. All Choo-Choo Customs El Camino SS's were "final assembled" at Choo-Choo Customs, Inc's., headquarters in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The Choo-Choo Customs, Inc., El Camino SS model was available through any Chevrolet dealership from 1983 through 1987. The "Choo-Choo SS" was an appearance package only. Unlike earlier Chevrolet Super Sport models, no performance enhancements were made to the production Choo-Choo SS models. This 1987 is one of only 861 that were manufactured during the final year of the Choo-Choo Customs’ production run of El Caminos, and it is still in great shape, with what is believed to be only 64000 original miles. Starting with the clean white exterior and its black graphics, to its nearly new Cooper Cobra radials wrapped around the 15” Rallye wheels with simulated chrome knock-off spinner, this is one sporty looking truck. Moving inside, one finds the maroon cloth interior to be in great shape, with the very functional split bench seat and carpeting looking barely used. Its JVC AM/FM/CD head unit with detachable face plate puts out sound that is far better than what it had from the factory radio in 1987. Get in, get comfortable, fire up the 4BBL-equipped 305 CID V8, slide it into drive, and head out. The exhaust has a nice rumble through the new stainless-steel exhaust, and the transmission shifts smoothly as you ease down the road in style. You’ll certainly get lots of admiring glances while you’re driving this last-of-breed Choo-Choo El Caminos! Options on this 1987 Chevrolet El Camino SS Choo-Choo include A/C, AM/FM/CD Radio, Cloth Interior, Cruise Control, Rallye Wheels with beauty rings, Power Brakes, Power Locks, Power Windows, Seat Belts, and Tilt Wheel. 1987 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS Aero Coupe

1987 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS Aero Coupe

Engine: 350 CID Tuned Port
Transmission: Automatic
Mileage: 6,052 ( since rebuilt )

Gateway Classic Cars of Louisville is proud to present this awesome 1987 Monte Carlo SS Aerocoupe. With only 6052 Super Sport Monte Carlo Aero Coupes built during 1987, this is a one off amazing piece of history. Bought by the current owner 20 years ago, he decided to build this car the way Chevy should have done it! The anemic 5.0L V8 that put out only an anemic 180 Horses to the ground has been discarded. We all tried to convince ourselves, back in the day, that the 305 was awesome, but it’s what you do when you overcompensating for your deficiencies. The replacement is a very healthy 350 CID engine that has bored .030 over the block lined bored, plate honed to insure everything stayed straight during the machining process. The rotating assembly has been balanced, to insure longevity of this power plant, with a set of TRW forged flat top pistons installed and a Crane roller cam (computer friendly cam) to make this a rock solid piece. To allow this engine to breathe properly, a set of Trick Flow Twisted Wedge heads, held in place by ARP head bolts and Crane Gold roller rockers fro reliability with less resistance. To get plenty of air into the heads, a T.P.I.S. Big Mouth intake with matched big tube runners and BBK throttle body set at op the engine. All GM sensors are new with a new GM Computer. The exhaust is a set of Edelbrock headers, with a.i.r. injection, that have been Jet Hot coated so they will last for the life of the car. From the headers, a Torque Tech 2.5 mandrel bent exhaust system with Walker Super Dyno-Max mufflers. The whole engine compartment including the wiring system has been done to appear factory. The engine is estimated to put out a minimum 360 hp, or twice the original power plant. To handle extra power, the original 200r4 with Art Carr internals and an Art Carr torque Converter. The rear end has been swapped out for a Buick Grand National rear end that has new bearings, posi unit, 3.73 ring & pinion with a set of Moser Street/Strip axles to make the rear end nearly bullet proof. The interior is all original burgundy cloth seats and original dashboard. When you set in the interior, it still looks and smells as good as the day it rolled off the showroom. Outside the car, the vehicle is done in White gloss paint, with pin striping that very closely matches the factory scheme, with difference being on the hood indicating what lies beneath. Before the new white paint was laid down, the car was taken completely apart, including being separated from the frame. The frame was sand blasted, painted in a semi gloss, then all new parts were installed including; new stainless fuel & brake lines, Bell Tech 2 inch front drop spindles, 2 inch Bell-Tech springs in rear w/shocks, NOS GM body bushings. To finish off the look is a set of COYs 5 wheel with gray centers and a polished outer lip. One look under the shows the unmatched detail to attention that has been brought to the whole build of this car. This Monte Carlo has won at Car Shows regularly over the last 10 years and will continue to win shows! Everybody has heard the line, "you couldn't build this car for the price", it is definitely a true statement in this case. This Monte Carlo here is sure to please a crowd at a car show, with its low, throaty rumble upon startup, its tire burning horsepower, and its sleek stylish appearance. Options include Radial tires, A/C, Power brakes, Power steering, AM/FM radio and Power windows.
