1968 Chevrolet Camaro Z28

1968 Chevrolet Camaro Z28

Engine: 302 V8
Transmission: 4 Speed Manual
Mileage: 49,576 ( actual )

Gateway Classic Cars is proud to present this 1968 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 RS for sale in the Indianapolis showroom. This gorgeous red exterior and black vinyl interior Z28 was frame off restored approximately 15 years ago at approximately 49,000 original miles. The current owner has put the remainder of the miles (it currently shows 49,576 miles) on the vehicle in the last 5 years. With a 302 cubic inch V8 coupled to a 4 speed manual transmission feeding a 12 bolt 4:11 Positraction rear, and Rally wheels wrapped in radials, the power brakes and power steering complete the factory configuration. This vehicle is documented by the NCRS and shows that the official production date was 04/05/1968. The original delivery dealer was dealer code 242 in zone 49. The name and address of that dealer is believed to be Hornbeck Chevrolet Inc in Carbondale, Pennsylvania. The Z28 performance package was designed (with further modifications) to compete in the SCCA Trans-Am series. It included a solid-lifter 302 V8, 4-speed transmission, power disc brakes, and two wide stripes down the hood and trunk lid. The Z28 option code was introduced in December 1966 for the 1967 model year. It was the brainchild of Vince Piggins, who conceived offering "virtually race-ready" Camaros for sale from any Chevrolet dealer. This option package was not mentioned in any sales literature, so it was unknown to most buyers. The Z28 option required power front disc brakes and a close-ratio Muncie 4-speed manual transmission (posi-traction was optional). It featured a 302 cu in (4.9 L) small-block V-8 engine, 3" stroke crankshaft with 4" bore, an aluminum intake manifold, and a 4-barrel vacuum secondary Holley carburetor of 780 cfm. The engine was designed specifically to race in the Trans Am series (which required engines smaller than 305 cu in (5.0 L). Advertised power of this engine was listed at 290 hp (216 kW). This is an under-rated figure. Chevrolet wanted to keep the horsepower rating at less than 1 hp per cubic inch, for various reasons (e.g. insurance and racing classes). The factory rating of 290 hp occurred at 5300 rpm, while actual peak for the high-revving 302 was closer to 360 hp (268 kW) (with the single four barrel carb) and 400 hp (298 kW) (with optional dual-four barrel carbs) at 6800-7000 rpm. The Z28 also came with upgraded suspension, racing stripes on the hood and trunk lid, '302' front fender emblems on the 67 and early 68 cars, and 'Z28' emblems in late 68 & 69. It was also possible to combine the Z28 package with the RS package. Only 602 Z28s were sold in 1967, along with approximately 100 Indianapolis Pace Car replicas. 7,199 Z28s were sold in 1968. The 1967 and 1968 Z28s did not have the cowl induction hood, optional on the 1969 Z28s. The 1967 Z28 received air from an open element air cleaner or from an optional cowl plenum duct attached to the side of the air cleaner that ran to the firewall and got air from the cowl vents. 15-inch rally wheels were included with Z28s while all other 1967-9 Camaros had 14-inch wheels. The origin of the Z28 nameplate came from the RPO codes - RPO Z28 was the code for the Special Performance Package. RPO Z27 was for the Super Sport package. For sale in our Saint Louis Showroom is this yellow with black houndstooth striping first-generation Camaro. The first-generation Camaro debuted in September 1966, for the 1967 model year, up to 1969 on a new rear-wheel drive GM F-body platform and was available as a two-door coupé or convertible with 2+2 seating, and a choice of six different engines. The motive behind the new Chevy make was to replace the Corvair and to compete more successfully with the Ford Mustang. The popularity and demand for the first-generation Camaro re-emerged after Chevy borrowed heavily from it in their fifth-generation redesign. This particular first-generation 1968 Chevy Camaro is the Rally Sport edition that sports the distinctive hood stripes that first appeared in 1967. Powering this classic body is a rebuilt 327 CID V8, a Turbo 350 transmissoin, 10 bolt psi rear differential. The engine has less than 1,000 miles on it since the rebuild. For sale in our Nashville showroom is a 1968 Chevrolet Convertible Camaro, this 1968 Convertible Camaro for sale looks striking with its red paint, black vinyl interior and drop top. This is the car that comes to mind every time I think of the late 60’s and early ‘70’s. This is the poster car for that summer that we all remember. Everybody has that summer, the one where freedom is tasted as well as adult beverages. This is the perfect car to relive those long summer nights of so many years ago. Tucked under the hood of this time machine is a Chevy small block or mighty mouse as we use to call them, 327 Cubic inches of raw Chevrolet power topped with a 4 barrel Holley ® Carburetor. This strong 327 is backed by a stout 2 speed automatic transmission. This 1968 Camaro is even more fun to drive than you remember. How long has it been since you experienced driving? I don’t mean in a car that has some computer to make sure you don’t drift outside your lane or one that applies the brakes for you as this is not driving, it is just steering the car, and heck we did that when we were 7 years old on dad’s lap. Remember driving? Wind in your hair and a car with a soul controlled by you and your right foot? Well hurry and get one before they are outlawed and we all “ride” in self driving, soulless things that are not even called cars anymore. Options for this 1968 Camaro convertible for sale include: AM/FM, CD player, power convertible top, power brakes, Rally Rims, seat belts, vinyl interior and radial tires. 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Pace Car

1969 Chevrolet Camaro Pace Car

Engine: 396 CID V8
Transmission: 700R4
Mileage: 90,892 ( undocumented )

For sale is this beautiful 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Indy Pace Car is in our Louisville showroom. This 1969 Chevrolet Camaro RS/SS Pace Car has an awful lot going for it - terrific curb appeal via a signature two tone paint job, a big block sitting underneath the hood to provide all the power you could want and a one of a kind interior that's been brought back to top shape come to mind right off. There were fewer than 4000 of its kind made to begin with, and most of those have fallen by the wayside over these past decades, so it's also got substantial collectability to go along with its outstanding, vintage good looks. Skillful restoration and good care have a powerful impact on a classic car and for this one, they've paid especially big dividends. The Dover white body carrying a pair of broad Hugger orange hood and deck lid stripes that help define this Camaro's pace car configuration looks great, and the stripes themselves have very clean edges. Chevy changed the configuration of the hidden headlights up front for this year, giving them distinctive horizontal vents that look great in their white surroundings, with a black SS grille sitting front and center and a pair of close-set fog lights looming below. The badging on all four sides is clean and securely positioned, and the front and back bumpers sport straight chrome with a great shine. For protection against inclement weather, the manual white vinyl top raises into place without any drama and has an impressively clear plastic window in back. The interior waiting inside is a stunner, featuring the original orange houndstooth check upholstery that also helped distinguished this special breed of Camaro when it was released. Options on this 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Indy Pace Car for sale include; Air Conditioning, AM/FM Radio, Power Convertible Soft Top, Power Steering, Power Brakes, Tilt Steering wheel, Seat Belts, Cloth/Vinyl Interior and Rally Wheels with Radial Tires. 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Indy Pace Car for sale is in our Louisville Showroom and can be seen in greater detail, including an HD video at www.GatewayClassicCars.com. Engine: 194 Inline 6
Transmission: 2 Speed Automatic
Mileage: 11,885 ( undocumented )

For sale is this beautiful 1962 Chevrolet Nova 400 Convertible is in our Louisville showroom. The 1962 Chevy II (Nova) rode a 110-inch wheelbase, compared to 109.5 for the Ford Falcon, at which Chevy's new compact was aimed. The Chevy II one of the fastest new-car development programs in GM history – just 18 months after the designers got the green light, the first production Chevy II rolled off the Willow Run, Michigan, assembly line in August 1961, in time for its September 29 introduction. Unlike the Corvair, the 1962 Chevy II was deliberately never intended to be revolutionary in concept or execution; its mission was to give Chevrolet buyers a simple, back-to-the-basics compact car and it did. This Nova 400 convertible is very clean, but still very simple. A quick peek of the underside will show how clean the car. Under the hood, is the ever reliable inline 6-cylinder engine. The engine is backed by a 2-speed automatic power glide transmission. The interior is basically stock, but some of the vinyl ha been replaced with cloth inserts. The convertible is manual, but so easy to put up and down, that it only takes one person to do it. Options on this 1962 Chevrolet Nova 400 Convertible for sale include; AM/FM Radio, Manual Convertible Soft Top, Seat Belts, Cloth Interior and White Wall Radial Tires. 1962 Chevrolet Nova 400 Convertible for sale is in our Louisville Showroom and can be seen in greater detail, including an HD video at www.GatewayClassicCars.com.
