1971 Chevrolet Corvette

Engine: 350 V8
Transmission: 4-Speed Manual
Mileage: 111180 ( undocumented )

For sale at Gateway Classic Cars in our St. Louis showroom is a 1971 Chevrolet Corvette convertible. This two top Brands Hatch Green Corvette Stingray is ready for the open road. The Saddle vinyl interior is the perfect match for the Brands Hatch Green exterior. The car just came out of a 25-year slumber and was fitted with all new bushings, ball joints, bearings, shocks, brakes & calipers, mufflers, tires, interior and paint. Not quite a frame off restoration, but also not frame off money. The big bonus is the 4-speed and auxiliary hardtop. The C3 hardtops very well may be one of the best-looking hardtops to be fitted to a car. The beige soft top was also replaced and goes very well with the Saddle interior. Options for this 1971 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible include: AM/FM Radio, Vinyl Interior, Power Steering, Power Brakes, Seat Belts, Manual Convertible Top (Hard and Soft Tops), Rally Wheels, and Radial Tires. 1971 would be the last year for high horsepower. Through 1971, engines were rated as gross horsepower which meant power was rated with no engine accessories that would rob power. In 1972, horsepower was rated with all engine accessories and power looked as if it fell right off the shelf. Power was indeed down, but not nearly as much as it looked on paper. This one factor plays a significant role in collectability making the 1971 a more sought-after model year than ‘72s. This 1971 is powered by the 270 horsepower 350 and is mated to a fun shifting 4-speed. In 1972 this engine would be rated at 200 horsepower and the 454 would be rated at 270. It would be an interesting matchup; cubic inches and torque vs. the lightweight small block. The small block may be the better choice with fewer fill ups at the gas station and cooler engine temperatures. 1971 Chevrolet Corvette

Engine: ZZ 383 Stroker
Transmission: Tremec 5 Speed
Mileage: 2957 ( since rebuilt )

This 1971 Chevrolet Corvette is for sale in our Louisville KYT showroom. Road racing has long been a part of American car culture for not only showing what companies could do but just for the sheer fun. The 60’s and 70’s would see one of the biggest booms in the sport with Lemans and the T/A series finding plenty of fans. The sport would eventually fade away after Car manufactures began to focus on fuel economy and safety instead of performance. This example is true to that heritage and was built to look and perform as such. Probably the first thing you notice on this 71 is the headlights. Like racecars of that time the hole light assembly ahs been removed with a Lemans style piece put in its place that not only looks sportier but shaves quite a few ponds off. The front has a bottom spoiler to help with down force, but you have to admit looks pretty darn good. The paint job is fitting with the company logos being nothing more than vinyl decals that can be removed if you don’t like the look. The racing components is what really separates this road course weapon from the rest. The Bilstein shocks are race ready with the tubular control arms, fiberglass leaf springs, and lowered stance all add to the carving capability’s. The Steeroids rack and pinion steering is one of the most precise setups sold for these cars eliminating any of the see saw motion in the wheel. Under the L88 hood is a 383 stroker motor from GM’s very successful ZZ line. The huge cam and a great tune has this small block pumping out A massive 500+HP. The tremec 5 speed handles the power nicely with the built rear end having 650HP half shafts. The 3.55 gears give the perfect mix of acceleration and top end grunt. The bucket seats inside are exactly what you need if you are thinking about trying to use the car to its full potential. The 4-point cage adds rigidity to the chassis while giving a level of protection with the 4-point harness’ keep you in place. The dash on the car has been taken out with a more race car friendly layout taking its place. The removable steering wheel allows for more room when getting in and out of the car and another item that you would expect to see in a car of this nature. The 200MPH speedometer as well as an MSD REV limiter that even has a 2 step. If you have been wanting a race car that can be driven to the track, run some hot laps around the road course and then driven back home in confidence this 71 Corvette fits the bill. Options on this 1971 Corvette include, Power Windows, Power Brakes, Cloth Interior, Seat Belts, T Tops, and Radial Tires with Alloy Wheels. Gateway Classic Cars of Houston is proud to offer up this beautiful 1971 Chevrolet Corvette. Between the sharp lines and healthy engine, this car is sure to be a fun weekend toy for the new owner. Under the hood of this beauty is a massive 454 CID V8 engine. The 454 was the largest production engine put into a corvette. These engines made massive torque numbers all the way through the rev range and made for a thrilling drive. This engine was rebuilt roughly 1,000 miles ago to ensure proper performance and reliability. Thanks to the rebuild, the engine runs very well and pulls like it should. Sending the power to the rear end is a four-speed manual transmission that shifts firmly through the gears. Overall, the powertrain on this Vette is solid and performs very well. This car is just itching to get on some windy roads. Also, if the driver would rather keep the top on, the air conditioning will keep the cabin at a comfortable temperature. On colder days, the driver will enjoy the heat. Keeping the driving experience enjoyable are power brakes and power steering. Overall, the interior in in pretty good shape. Moving outward, the car is finished in grey PPG paint that accents the curves of the car very well. The chrome bumpers and side exhaust covers are in good condition with some isolated minor discoloration that isn't out of the ordinary for these cars.
