It's probably because you most likely have not. This 1940 Ford Deluxe was produced by the Ford Motor Company and then converted by The Eureka Manufacturing Company of Rock Falls Illinois into a flower car. Essentially starting out as a 5-window coupe, the conversion lengthened the chassis and the convertible rear casket compartment was created with metal rollers and pins to store the side rails that would hold flowers in place. This car had a dual use of being enclosed with the original canvas cover for the less elaborate funerals and having the rear compartment cover removed and side rails installed for a more elaborate send off. Flower cars were popular during the middle of the century and now are rarely seen in modern funerals. While most if not all of these conversions done by Eureka were on General Motors vehicles this one being a Ford and not a Packard or Cadillac makes this highly obscure and is believed to be the only one ever made. This car was purchased new in 1940 and check out the original photos of the car being delivered. Now fast forward 78 years and you will notice that not much has really changed. This is an original, unmolested, unrestored car that still retains the original paint, original canvas cover, original interior and powertrain. Sealed-beam headlights were one of the few major advances for 1940, while a hydraulic top was new on the convertible. Power comes from a well built 1953 Mercury V8 Flathead that has been fitted with a 3/4 race Comp Cams camshaft, a decked set of cylinder heads for more compression, Brassworks radiator and a 12 volt electrical system. This car makes such a great sound! There's nothing like a well built high performance Flathead. Power is sent through a 3 speed manual mounted on the column. Both the engine and transmission have roughly 1,000 miles since the rebuild and offer issue free enjoyment. The engine was professionally built at Flatland Flatheads out of Oklahoma City. These guys know their stuff. This car will turn heads with the sound alone. Painted in an inconspicuous Clay with a tan interior and a set of period correct hubcaps. The front end has dropped front axle that offers a lowered ride height by a smidge and is fitted with confident inspiring front disc brakes. Covered in a Creme and Burgundy two-tone paint scheme, it looks like any other nicely-done 1940's sedan, but this one is not what it seems at first glance...but more on that later! Its exterior chrome is in good shape, and the interior chrome trim looks great! Open the hood, and you'll note that the engine bay sports a decidely non-'40s GM 350 CID V8, with a mild Comp Cams bumpstick, double hump heads, a Holley aluminum intake, Edelbrock 4BBL carb, and coated shorty headers. Power Steering and A/C are added benefits; along with a massive HD radiator with twin pull fans behind it and a big pusher fan at the front. Certainly this is one sleeper rod that will run long and cool. The 350 has less than 5000 miles on it since it was built, and it and the GM TH350 3-peed auto trans work seamlessly with the 3.08:1-equipped GM 12-bolt posi rear end to get this thing up to speed quickly. When you want to scrub off that speed, the front disk/rear drum brake combo work in tandem to haul things down quickly. When you come to a stop, you'll appreciate the menacing rumble that the custom dual exhaust with FlowMaster mufflers provide, and so will your audience at the cruise-ins you'll be frequenting in this stylish "old gal with the young heart"! Moving to the inside, you'll appreciate the craftsmanship that went into the restoration of the interior. Using modern materials, but keeping the vintage motif, the interior looks as though it could have been original, but it's obviously a modernized upgrade of the fabrics that it would have had. In keeping with the accent color of the exterior, the maroon synthetic leather-trimmed cloth seats and all carpeting coordinate nicely with the exterior. Occupants will appreciate the extra space in the back, and everyone will enjoy the air-conditioned comfort that this baby provides. The AM/FM/CD head unit provides your choice of audio. Now available in our DFW-Showroom is this stunning 1963 Ford Fairlane. The Ford Fairlane is an automobile model that was sold between 1955 and 1970 by Ford in North America. The name is derived from Henry Ford's estate, Fair Lane, near Dearborn, Michigan. This 1963 Ford Fairlane wagon has been a drag racer in the Pacific Northwest for many years. We have seen many Thunderbolt clones, but never one based on a wagon, and this one is even better because it has real history. It has a modernized engine, yet the exterior retains older paint and graphics. Fantastic! The car sits right and the staggered steel wheels with long Moroso studs, which cannot be beat. The rear suspension and wide 11.5? Mickeys are nicely tucked underneath and don’t really hint at their increased capability. The red interior offers a nice contrast and doesn’t dig the Sun sweep tachometer on the dash and the roll-bar that extends back into the cargo area. The stock bench and steering wheel look great! The engine is the best part of the car and sets it apart from the small blocks we typically seen in wannabe T-bolts and Fairlane drivers. It combines a 390 block with a 428 SCJ crank to displace 423 cubic inches. It apparently wears twin 600 CFM carbs under a proper looking airbox and T-bolt headlight duct system. This sharp Cobra started its life in Florida and has spent most of its time here out of the cold elements. Code-named "Terminator" by the SVT development crew led by John Coletti, numerous improvements were made to the powertrain and driveline to handle the power increase from the previous model's set-up. A cast-iron block was used, with stronger internals including forged Zolner pistons and Manley H-beam connecting rods that were modified with a wrist pin oiling hole by the SVT engineers. These upgrades were critical in order to support the 8 psi (0.55 bar) of boost delivered from the stock Eaton M-112 roots-type supercharger. Other improvements included the use of a lightweight aluminum flywheel connected to a Tremec T-56 six-speed transmission, 3.55:1 rear axle ratio, and stronger 31-spline halfshafts with revised upper and lower control arms. This white with white ghost flame custom painted Cobra has a clean history report and only about 81k actual miles. The white and tan look at been popular for years and will continue to be a sleek look on any muscle car. Options on this Cobra include; A/C, AM/FM radio, Cd Player, Automatic Convertible top, power seats and windows, power brakes and steering, power locks and mirrors, traction control, leather interior, and so much more. With just under 2,700 miles on a fresh rebuild this tastefully modified 1965 Mustang is ready to hit the road and cruise! Setting this Mustang apart from rest of the crowd is a custom Shelby style front end and hood, American Racing Torque Thrust wheels, and lowered stance that really set off the performance feel. Giving it the lowered stance and helping it to out corner its stock counterpart is a set of TCP adjustable coil overs upfront and newer lower leaf springs in the rear. Also helping it to corner is the Flaming River power rack and pinion cradle that was a huge improvement from the factory equipment. The remanufactured 302 cubic inch V8 sitting under the hood has been tuned up to give it that extra power it needed. Modifications include the Edelbrock aluminum intake manifold and 4-barrell carburetor, a mild cam giving it a healthy choppy idle, and a set of Hedman long-tube headers flowing through a full Flowmaster exhaust system. Backing up that small block Ford engine is a built up C4 automatic transmission that shifts crisply between gears. Helping to add to the reliability of this Mustang, it was completely rewired using an American Autowire Mustang harness and an aluminum radiator was installed along with an electric fan to keep it cool. This Mustang has been well sorted out and has a great deal of classy touches throughout.
