Gateway Classic Cars of Scottsdale is excited to offer this 1985 Mazda RX-7 GSL-SE for sale right now in our Arizona showroom. Mazda first offered the revolutionary ‘Wankel’ rotary engine powering this RX-7 in 1978. The engine defied the norm with its design by featuring a triangular rotor that revolves around the combustion chamber instead of the traditional pistons, resulting in a much smaller displacement. On top of this, the engine was so light and compact that it could be mounted behind the front axle and meant the RX-7 had a perfect 50/50 weight distribution. Following the initial success of the 12A engine, Mazda introduced the slightly higher displacement 13B rotary engine with a larger output of 135hp that was exclusive to the GSL-SE in 1984/85. Paired to this peppy motor is a responsive 5-speed manual transmission and unique to the GSL-SE over base model RX-7’s is limited slip differential, larger brakes and distinctive wheels (the owner has stated he will include these original wheels with the sale). Our RX-7 for sale right now in our Scottsdale location is quite possibly the best example I have ever seen, and I grew up seeing these cars all over the place on the West Coast in the 1990’s! The car has been repainted in its original silver, it features a custom Kenwood stereo with oversized speakers behind the seats and all windows have been tinted meaning you will look extra cool driving this retro Japanese coupe! The Carfax shows that this car has spent its entire life in California and Arizona (southwest car) and has 92,293 original miles (mileage cannot be verified by GCC). The good news for perspective buyers of an RX-7 is that prices for these probable future collectibles remain affordable. Now is your chance to pick this usable, practical classic for a great deal! 1985 Mazda RX7 12A

Engine: 1146 CC 12A
Transmission: 5-Speed Manual
Mileage: 113,292 ( actual )

Gateway Classic Cars of Scottsdale is proud to offer a super clean 1985 Mazda RX-7 GSL for sale right now in our Arizona showroom. When talking about Japanese sports car, it's impossible not to mention the RX-7. Mazda first offered this car in 1978 with a revolutionary engine. The Wankel rotary was an engine that defied the norm with its design. The engine has no pistons, but rather a triangular rotor which rotates around the combustion chamber. The result is a much smaller displacement than the typical piston engine. This RX-7 sports a 1,146cc 12A rotary engine. This engine produced just over 100 horsepower, but was lightweight which allowed the car to have an incredibly balanced 50/50 weight distribution. The entire car was under 2,500 pounds, so there's no doubt why they handle amazingly. This particular example is a well maintained ‘survivor’ that has spent its entire life in the Western United States, meaning you won’t have to worry about a rusty frame. With only two owners and a clean Carfax history, this is one for a collector. The color scheme is an attractive cream exterior with a gray cloth interior. In case you forgot you were in a sports car, the dash features a large center mounted tachometer and the console houses the manual transmission shifter. Backing the 5-speed manual transmission is a limited slip differential. This is a true sports car which will continue to appreciate in value and one of the best cars to come out of the 80’s! You can see this 1985 Mazda RX-7 GSL for sale right now in person at our Scottsdale showroom or at www.GatewayClassicCars.com.
