Gateway Classic Cars Philadelphia offers this iconic muscle car, a real 1968 Plymouth Road Runner at our showroom located in West Deptford, NJ! The concept of the biggest “bang for your buck” is thoroughly embodied by the Plymouth Road Runner as buyers got a whole lotta car for one heck of a price. The manufacturer was going after the youth market, a demographic that was previously not inclined to visit a Plymouth showroom. Plymouth Vice President Bob Anderson sought the advice of auto journalists to answer the big question, what kind of car would a young person buy? The answer was an affordable, stripped mid-sized performance car that had a recognizable, catchy name. Jack Smith, then manager of Plymouth’s B-Body planning group and the man behind the beep-beep, was watching a Saturday morning cartoon featuring the familiar coyote and road runner noting, “The cartoon character was hot off the line, it was fast, it never got beaten and could stop on a dime.” Well, after some deliberation and a lot of convincing, Plymouth launched the Road Runner in 1968 and it was met with remarkable success. Now available, you too can own this great car coated in a loud Omaha orange paint and sporty black hood stripes that pair beautifully with the sharp black vinyl top. This fast bird rumbles with numbers matching 383 CID V8 coupled to a four-speed manual transmission that shifts with ease. HEI ignition means you’re good to go in terms of spark and listen to that great “beep beep” horn! The car went through a fresh rotisserie restoration in April 2017, with a complete undercoating and has new chrome Magnum 500 wheels surrounded by some new rubber. Sit down on the comfortable black bench seat and enjoy some tunes coming from the Retrosound® Bluetooth stereo that sounds terrific. The interior features a new headliner, new carpet, door panels, armrests and package tray! The car has new hoses, mufflers, tailpipes, fuel and brake lines and a new gas tank! This Road Runner is ready to go! Are you able to outsmart it and tame the famed bird? Give us a call today and give that coyote a run for his money! 1967 Plymouth Barracuda

Engine: 6 Cylinder
Transmission: 4 Speed Automatic
Mileage: 90376 ( undocumented )

For sale in our Dallas Fort Worth showroom is a second generation Plymouth Barracuda from 1967. The second-generation Barracuda, still shared many components with the Valiant but was stylishly redesigned with model-specific sheet metal, and a convertible and hardtop coupe joining the original fastback offering. The new Barracuda was chiefly the work of John E. Herlitz and John Samsen, with Coke-bottle side contours and heavily revised front and rear ends. Design cues included a concave rear deck panel, wider wheel openings, curved side glass, and S-curved roof pillars on the hardtop. Some points of interest with the 1967 Cudas were that the front and rear bumpers were identical. They have the same license plate indent and mounting bracket. The rear portion of the roof on the fastback coupe was more streamlined, and the back glass, raked at a substantially horizontal angle, was much smaller compared with that of the previous model. Also, the use of chrome trim on the external sheet metal was more restrained. In 1967, while the 225 cu in (3.7 L) slant-6 was still the base engine, the V8 options ranged from the two- and four-barrel versions of the 273 cu in (4.5 L) to a seldom-ordered 383 cu in (6.3 L) "B" big-block, rated at 280 bhp (210 kW), the latter available only with the Formula S package. This Barracuda comes with a rebuilt 225 slant-6 and a 4 speed automatic transmission. To view the 1967 Plymouth Barracuda in greater detail, including 100+ HD photos and HD video, please visit www.gatewayclassiccars.com.
