Gateway Classic Cars of Indianapolis is pleased to offer this amazing, ONE-OWNER 1968 Pontiac GTO Convertible! It’s red, it’s ready, and it’s quite a find. The current owner purchased this GTO on June 8, 1968 from City Sales and Service Pontiac in Muncie, Indiana…and it’s been lovingly cared for it’s entire life. Original MSRP window sticker, factory build tags, dealership paperwork, owner’s manual, original keys, and even the installment bank note, are all available to go with the sale! The original 400 V8 fires to life with every turn of the key, and the burble from the exhaust lets everybody know this GTO means business. The 4-speed manual transmission got a new clutch in 2016, and puts the power down through the posi-track rear axle, making this a car that begs to be driven! The power convertible top works like the day it was new, and looks great up, but so much better when it’s down. Factory options include, dual exhaust, red-line tires, power windows, power steering and brakes, the original wood steering wheel, an am/fm radio, rally gauge cluster, seat belts and remote outside mirror. 1968 Pontiac Firebird

1968 Pontiac Firebird

Engine: 461 CID V8
Transmission: 4 Speed Manual
Mileage: 70,696 ( undocumented )

Originally sold in Denver, Colorado this 3 owner 1968 Pontiac Firebird is has been fully restored and ready for its new owner. It started out life with a 350 cubic inch V8 and a Muncie M21 close ratio 4-speed transmission. It has been completely rebuilt from the ground up with all new suspension, stock springs front and rear as well as all new bushings. The 10 bolt rear end was completely rebuilt and has a new Auburn limited slip spool housing 3.23 gears. Having new disc brakes front and rear help the car stop straight and very quick. Popping the bright red hood reveals the 1967 400 cubic inch Pontiac block that was completely inspected before being rebuilt. Engine is bored .030 over allowing for the 461 stroker assembly to call it home. The short block was assembled by one of the best engine builders in the area and after completion was dyno tuned and tested where it produced peak numbers of 497 horsepower and 570 ft. lbs. of torque. Diving into the list of components that have been built into this power house the bottom end consists of an Eagle crankshaft, forged 4340 rods, SRP forged racing pistons, high press and volume oil pump in a six-quart pan. Taking a look at the top end there is a full roller Comp camshaft, and a set of Edelbrock D port 87cc heads. Cam specifications are 502 int. and 510 exh. lift but with 1.6 ratio rockers lift is closer to actual 530. The engine was built this way to get good lift without excessive duration. Helping transfer all of this power to the ground is a completely brand new Muncie M22 Rock Crusher 4 speed transmission. This 4-speed is a wide ratio that works perfectly with the big engine and higher 3.23 rear end gears. When we said this was a complete restoration we ment it! Even the Ram clutch assembly is brand new with all new linkage. Everything in the drivetrain has been balanced complete with the flywheel and new driveshaft. This Firebird was built for handling and performance at any speed. Taking care of the handling performance up front is a set of BMR tubular upper and lower control arms, large BMR sway bar, and tall upper ball joints. All of the hard work has been done to bring this car to where it is all it needs is someone to take it to car shows or on road trips. Looking at the interior you’ll realize the seats have been re-upholstered with factory style covers. Everything on the dash has been replaced including a new dash pad, instrument cluster was rebuilt and while the owner was in there he replaced the heater core and blower motor. 1968 Pontiac GTO

1968 Pontiac GTO

Engine: 428 CID V8
Transmission: 5-Speed Manual
Mileage: 13,115 ( undocumented )

For sale in our St. Louis Showroom is a Pro Touring 1968 Pontiac GTO. This GTO was built with drivability and fun in mind from the get go. The build started in June of 2009 and was completed in March of 2010. The burgundy exterior paint is a color from a 2009 Cadillac and features a slight metallic flake. The black leather interior is mostly custom, and features seats from a 2005 GTO that were slightly modified to fit and look right inside this 68’ GTO. Other custom touches in the interior include the console and the stainless-steel dash insert. Powering this Pro Touring GTO is a 428 CID V8 engine with a 4bbl Edelbrock carburetor and intake, chrome valve covers, and a mild performance cam. The 2.5” Ram Air exhaust flows to Spintek mufflers and X-pipe creating a killer sound. All this combines for an impressive 392 horsepower at the rear wheels. A Tremec 5-speed manual transmission transfers those ponies to the Posi-Trac 10-bolt rear end with 3.55 gears and provides a super fun driving experience. Opening and closing the big hood is made easy via the Billit aluminum hood hinges, that also look pretty darn cool. The ride height and overall stance is achieved via 2” drop spindles in the front and 17” Mickey Thompson aluminum/alloy wheels that are wrapped in brand new Toyo radial tires. The odometer reads 13,115, the actual mileage is unknown, and the build is believed to have between 6,000 and 8,000 miles on it. Options for this 1968 Pontiac GTO include: Air Conditioning, AM/FM Radio with MP3 Connectivity, Power Driver’s Seat, Leather Interior, Seat Belts, Power Brakes, Power Steering, Radial Tires, and Aluminum/Alloy Wheels. When looking at this 68’ GTO you would think the build was completed last year, to find out it was finished 8 years ago gives you a great idea of the care given to this beauty by the owner. 1968 Pontiac GTO

1968 Pontiac GTO

Engine: 400/350HP
Transmission: 4 Speed Manual
Mileage: 37,585 ( undocumented )

This cool 1968 Pontiac GTO is for sale in our Louisville KY showroom. The 68 GTO was brought out as a completely redesigned model with a much more curvaceous body. The styling ques and performance allowed Pontiac to sale over 87000 units that year. Today these cars are still sought after for the same reasons making the GTO one of the most sought-after muscle cars to this day. This green example is one of the few cars that has only had 2 owners in its lifetime. The current owner bought it in 1970 and kept it until now with a copy of the bill of sale included. The paperwork and receipts that come with the car are rather extensive with the original build sheet found under the gas tank are included as well. The green paint is correct to the car with it having a respray done some time ago. The panels are original to the car and are in good condition. The Endura bumper was the major thing that separated the GTO from a Chevelle. This one Under the hood you will find the original 400/350HP engine that still has plenty of power and runs extremely well. The 4-speed transmission shifts out nicely with a great feel on the pedal. The interior is believed to be original to the car and shows no signs of wear. The black vinyl buckets upfront are exactly what you would except in 68. The 4-speed shifter is in a great position to hammer through those gears. Speaking of gears the original rear-end is still intact with the 3.23 gears. Many consider these the perfect mix of acceleration and highway driving. If you have been looking for an exceptionally original car with the documentation showing that is genuine this 68 is the right car for you. Options on this 1968 Pontiac GTO include, AM Radio, Power Steering, Vinyl Interior, Seat Belts, and Radial Tires on Custom Wheels. This 1968 Pontiac GTO is for sale in our Louisville Showroom and can be seen in greater detail including 100+ HD pictures and an HD Video at www.gatewayclassiccars.com.
