1939 Ford Coupe

Engine: 350 CID V8
Transmission: 3-Speed Automatic
Mileage: 6238 ( since rebuilt )

Gateway Classic Cars of Nashville is proud to present this Kustom 1939 Ford Coupe. Yes… that’s custom with a K, and I’ll tell you why. In the 1960’s car customizers were going to greater lengths than ever before to differentiate their builds from those of their contemporaries. One person that became a household name was know for his over the top builds, and that man was George Barris. Barris was pioneer in custom car design and fabrication along with other greats like Norm Grabowski, Bill Hinds, and Gene Winfield. George Barris and his brother started the “Kustoms Car Club of LA” in the mid 50’s, some suspect Von Dutch’s misspelling on a sign, likely intentional, to be the reason for the K in the club name. Kustoms of this era can be broken down into two categories Mild and Full Kustom. This 1939 Ford Coupe for sale is a great example of a modern Mild Kustom. The original beauty of the car’s lines has been retained however custom headlight and tail light treatments have been used, the interior is covered in leather like pleat and roll vinyl as are the running boards on the exterior, the floors covered in a gold medium pile carpet, and gold flake zodiac vinyl piping has been added to tie the interior to the stunning gold flake paint job on the outside. This gold flaked kustom has won the best flake award the Billetproof car show and it is no wonder why… it’s a flake lovers dream and looks like something straight from a 1960’s Autorama winner’s circle. Powering this 1939 Ford Coupe is a small block chevy that has Cal Custom’s valve covers to continue the theme of a 1960’s build. There are obviously a few departures from the old school here, the major two for most people being the installation of air conditioning and a modern sound system. Safety belts have also been added along with power steering and brakes to make this Kustom as safe as it is kool. If you’re ready to go back to the 60s or just want a little more information, please give us a call in the Nashville Showroom at 615.213.1800 or you can visit us online at www.GatewayClassicCars.com

Engine: 350 CID V8
Transmission: 3-Speed Automatic
Mileage: 56560 ( undocumented )

Now for sale in Gateway Classic Cars Houston showroom is one very cool all-metal 1940 Ford Sedan Deluxe. Covered in a Creme and Burgundy two-tone paint scheme, it looks like any other nicely-done 1940's sedan, but this one is not what it seems at first glance...but more on that later! Its exterior chrome is in good shape, and the interior chrome trim looks great! Open the hood, and you'll note that the engine bay sports a decidely non-'40s GM 350 CID V8, with a mild Comp Cams bumpstick, double hump heads, a Holley aluminum intake, Edelbrock 4BBL carb, and coated shorty headers. Power Steering and A/C are added benefits; along with a massive HD radiator with twin pull fans behind it and a big pusher fan at the front. Certainly this is one sleeper rod that will run long and cool. The 350 has less than 5000 miles on it since it was built, and it and the GM TH350 3-peed auto trans work seamlessly with the 3.08:1-equipped GM 12-bolt posi rear end to get this thing up to speed quickly. When you want to scrub off that speed, the front disk/rear drum brake combo work in tandem to haul things down quickly. When you come to a stop, you'll appreciate the menacing rumble that the custom dual exhaust with FlowMaster mufflers provide, and so will your audience at the cruise-ins you'll be frequenting in this stylish "old gal with the young heart"! Moving to the inside, you'll appreciate the craftsmanship that went into the restoration of the interior. Using modern materials, but keeping the vintage motif, the interior looks as though it could have been original, but it's obviously a modernized upgrade of the fabrics that it would have had. In keeping with the accent color of the exterior, the maroon synthetic leather-trimmed cloth seats and all carpeting coordinate nicely with the exterior. Occupants will appreciate the extra space in the back, and everyone will enjoy the air-conditioned comfort that this baby provides. The AM/FM/CD head unit provides your choice of audio. The driver will appreciate the addition of the Equus Pro Tach, and the 3 gauge cluster under the dash helps keep vital engine functions monitoring just a glance away. 1940 Ford Deluxe Flower Car

Engine: Flat Head
Transmission: 3-Speed Manual
Mileage: 21896 ( undocumented )

Gateway Classic Cars of Chicago is excited to offer this very unique 1940 Ford Super Deluxe Flower Car once again. If you're scratching your head thinking "I've never seen one of those before!" It's probably because you most likely have not. This 1940 Ford Deluxe was produced by the Ford Motor Company and then converted by The Eureka Manufacturing Company of Rock Falls Illinois into a flower car. Essentially starting out as a 5-window coupe, the conversion lengthened the chassis and the convertible rear casket compartment was created with metal rollers and pins to store the side rails that would hold flowers in place. This car had a dual use of being enclosed with the original canvas cover for the less elaborate funerals and having the rear compartment cover removed and side rails installed for a more elaborate send off. Flower cars were popular during the middle of the century and now are rarely seen in modern funerals. While most if not all of these conversions done by Eureka were on General Motors vehicles this one being a Ford and not a Packard or Cadillac makes this highly obscure and is believed to be the only one ever made. This car was purchased new in 1940 and check out the original photos of the car being delivered. Now fast forward 78 years and you will notice that not much has really changed. This is an original, unmolested, unrestored car that still retains the original paint, original canvas cover, original interior and powertrain. Now is your chance to own something that nobody else has and enter the world of Professional Car Collectors. Surely this will be the only one at whatever show you attend and thanks to years of maintenance and recent service work performed this car is ready for the road and will cruise at highway speeds. New parts include brake shoes, wheel and master cylinders, brake hoses, rear axle seals, new points set, fuel tank, fuel pump and carburetor overhaul. Located in our Chicago showroom, this 1940 Ford Deluxe Flower Car can be seen including an HD video and pictures at www.gatewayclassiccars.com.
