Gateway Classic Cars of Scottsdale is intrigued to offer this elegant 1962 American Metropolitan for sale. These cars were some of the first sub-compacts produced for the American market. Built in England by Austin Motor Corporation, production ran from 1953 to 1961. Almost 95,000 were built and sold in the US and Canada. Originally made for Nash, they evolved with the company as they merged with other companies to form what eventually became American Motors. This little red and white hardtop was built late in 1961 and sold as a 1962 model, the model's last. Powered by a 1500 cc engine along with a 3-spd manual transmission, these English-made cars have a large fan base, because they are a unique part of automotive history and they are a ton of fun to drive and be seen in! The black and white vinyl interior still looks contemporary after all these years. This car has no power accessories or creature comforts; you don't need them to drive this little sweetheart anywhere you want to go. In the last few years, the Metropolitans are trending up in value. Get this one now, and drive and enjoy this classic car for years to come. This car is small but awesome things come in small packages plus they are easier to park and store. Perfect if you are in Europe or other countries that have limited garage space. Easy to drive plus its three on the tree shifter will bring you back to a better time or if you are new to a column shifter a great conversational piece at your local car show or while showing it off to friends and family. Our 1962 American Metropolitan includes: Cloth and vinyl interior, a radio that is not functioning, and aluminum alloy wheels.
