For sale at Gateway Classic Cars in our St. Louis showroom is a unique, one of a kind 1955 Chevrolet 3100 pickup. It's hard to find an area of sheet metal that hasn't been reworked. The top has been chopped, the bed was shortened, the hood has been pancacked and the body has also been channeled in order for the frame to sit higher in the chassis. When the top was cut, the windows were cut as well for proper fitment by using water jet cutting. A forward tilting hood is a unique take and it works beautifully. The door hinges have been relocated in order to switch them over to suicide door operation. Electric door poppers are in place of the original door handles and the mirrors have been removed for a clean and shaved appearance. The tailgate is welded shut and has flames tamped into the sheet metal The bed has an interesting look to it thanks to the wheel wells that have been enlarged to accommodate the gigantic wheel and tire combo. The rears are 285/50R20 and the fronts are 255/60R17. The bed itself has been airbrushed to resemble a wood bed. The fuel filler for the aluminum fuel cell is accessed by a flip up door in the center of the bed and the shape of the bed floor has been modified in order to fit the channeled chassis, primarily the rear axles. This smooth body is supported by an adjustable air suspension that is controlled by two switches mounted in the custom center console. Ride height can be independently adjusted for the front and rear. The rear suspension also consist of an adjustable four-link set up and a Mustang II for the front end. The Mustang II includes tubular upper and lower control arms along with rack and pinion steering. Slowing down is a breeze with four wheel disc brakes. Four wheel disc are a good thing to have with a power plant such as this one. Under the hood is a 454 cubic inch big block that's backed up by a TH-400. three speed automatic. Out back and sending the power to the rear wheels is a 12 bolt rear end housing 4.11 gears.
Inside is just as well built and thought out as the rest of the build. The seats are leather with Ostrich leather inserts as are the door panels and headliner. The floor is also leather! Dakota Digital gauges keep you well informed. The custom made center console houses the air suspension controls and the Lokar shifter. The center console stretches back past the bucket seats and up towards the rear window. The headliner also houses the stereo that can be controlled by remote. The rest of the controls are hidden under the dash to help retain the clean and uncluttered appearance.

This particular engine displaces 383 cubic inches giving it much torque and horsepower. Originally brought to the track by Don Gray Trucking as the "Torture II", with its U.S. Body-supplied '55 Sedan Race Body Shell. Built by Jerry Bickel Race Cars, Inc. in 1995, this is one legend that has stood the test of time and looks better than it did when it was first completed. Smothered in a gorgeous Tangelo Pearl finish, with very subtle flame work that starts on the hood and continues down the front flanks, this is one sweet-looking hot ride. But don't let the looks fool you - this car is one thing, and that's "all business". Sporting a Reher-Morrison 540 CID big block Chevy V8 with its Williams Carburetors-built race carb, backed by a custom BTE Powerglide transmission, this car is set up to let you make fools out of your bracket racing competition. With an air throttle and throttle stop, you can run extremely consistent times. With its 2016 NHRA-certified chassis (s/n A071910) good for 7.50 and slower E/Ts, this car is virtually turn-key ready for the track. From the full tubular chassis and integrated roll cage, to a Dzus fastener-laden body and interior panels, you can tell that this car is built for the track. The snorkel scoop-laden front clip comes completely off, allowing for full access to everything in the engine bay. Whether you need access to steering componentry, the engine, or the front coil-over drag suspension, there's virtually nothing that needs working on that can't be accessed easily. The massive mill is braced by a torque plate at the front, enabling it to become an integral part of the fully reinforced tubular race chassis, with it multiple-link adjustable rear, ensuring that this beast stays straight and true from launch to run-out at the top. The electric water pump, massive aluminum radiator with electric fan, and trans cooler help ensure that everything stays within optimum operating temps during each run. FYI, those dual Optima batteries help ensure that everyone can see your working HID headlights and taillights during those ultra-high-speed night racing runs (in addition to their normal duty, of course). Out back, a purpose-built Mark Williams complete 3rd member setup serves as part of a fully adjustable multi-link rear suspension, with Drag Coil-over shocks and wheelie bar, which serve to keep the rear end planted and the front end out of the sky at launch. Inside, the driver has all controls within easy reach, and fingertip controls make it easy, with the Jerry Bickel wiring setup and control panel being reachable even when the driver is fully belted into the Kirkey racing bucket with the massive Simpson race harness. Gateway Classic Cars of Louisville is proud to present this good looking 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air 2 door post. ’55 Chevys will always have a warm spot in this boy’s heart. The Drag race scene in American Graffiti began the yearn for one of these classics. Imagine being 16 years old and trying to persuade your Mom to let you buy one with a V8 and a 4-speed manual. 40 years later and still waiting to get my 1st 55 Chevy. Anyways, this Bel Air has 87287 actual miles on the body and frame per the current owner. The drivetrain has way less mileage with only 8000 since the rebuild. The body and frame were separated in 2012, painted then reassembled. At this time the engine was upgraded to a 383 Stroker Chevy small block V8 and mated to a 700R4 automatic transmission. The combo gives good reliable power, the Bel Air will now cruise at 70 mph and only turn 2100 rpm on the tach. The exterior of Teal Blue goes well with the gray cloth interior. The paint is base coat clear coat Quasar Blue Metallic, is roughly 2-3 years old, is still looking great and right at home on this '57 210. Inside you'll find a stock appearing interior with correct 210 seats. Most restorations seem to lean towards Bel Air interiors regardless if they’re Bel Airs or not. The 210 looks just as good and is in an Ivory and Charcoal color scheme that goes quite well with the Quasar Blue Metallic. Miles are showing 73,010 and are believed to be original. Modern upgrades include an aluminum radiator to help dissipate heat and keep the engine running cool. Adding to the aluminum radiator is an electric cooling fan. These electric fans are very good to have during any summer parade or stuck in traffic where the clutch fan isn't spinning fast enough to keep things cool. Brakes are original style drums and are brand new. An Edelbrock aluminum intake manifold helps breath cool air into the heads and an Edelbrock carburetor supplies the fuel. Edelbrock has sure made a name for themselves over the years and this easy to use carburetor solidifies their great reputation. Other notable restoration items include a new windshield, new side glass and rubber gaskets for the doors, windshield and trunk. 1957 Chevy's are as American as Apple Pie and probably one of the most recognizable cars ever built.
