For sale at Gateway Classic Cars in our St. Louis showroom is an awe inspiring 1988 Lamborghini Countach 5000 Quattrovalvole. This amazing piece of art and machinery has been with its second owner for the last twenty years. The actual mileage is 14,125, while the odometer shows 22,848 in kilometers. It's obvious how well it has been loved and cared for over the years. The car has never been restored and is still wearing the original paint and Pirelli P7R tires. Those giant rear tires measure 335/35R15 and were specially made for the Countach. This Countach is the 5000 Quattrovalvole and produces 420 horsepower and will rev to 7,500 rpm! Many sources say that the 5000 Quattro was the best version of the Countach. The Lamborghini Countach was first produced in 1974 and was a true work of art. No one had ever seen a car with such body lines. The closest thing to it was a Pantera with a Ford engine. The Countach is powered by an amazing V12 engine that sounds like a symphony in perfect harmony that finishes off with a throaty growl. It went through many transformations over the years starting from 4 liters and a half a dozen down draft Webers, all the way to 5 liters, 4 valves per cylinder and fuel injection. Lamborghini originally made tractors and was very successful. Mr. Lamborghini went to Ferrari and requested some changes be made to the clutch that was used on current Ferraris. Enzo quickly declined and the Lamborghini auto company was born just 3 months later. They have been at each other's throats ever since. During the Countach era, Ferrari did their best to compete. First with the 365 Berlinetta powered by a flat 12 boxer engine, then the Testarossa and finally the 288 GTO with twin turbo chargers. The Lamborghini was able to stay ahead and remain the better performer. Of all the Lamborghinis produced since 1963, the Countach remains the most recognizable and is without question a collector piece. If you're ready to sit in the red leather bucket seats (very comfortable), turn the key to ignite all 12 cylinders, slip the shifter into 1st gear and experience something that will stay with you for the rest of your life, call us to discuss your options on purchasing this amazing piece of machinery. HIGH VALUE VEHICLES

1959 Chevrolet Corvette

1959 Chevrolet Corvette

Engine: 283 CID V8 270HP 2x4BL
Transmission: 4 Speed Manual
Mileage: 60,200 ( undocumented )

For sale in our Dallas-Ft. Worth showroom is this gorgeous tuxedo black 1959 Chevrolet Corvette convertible. This stunning car has a beautiful red interior, a 270 hp 2x4 solid lift 283 with a 4-speed transmission and wide whitewalls with knockoff hubcaps. To the credit of all involved, the 1959 Corvette was “cleaned up” considerably. For one, the chrome “suspenders” were removed from the design, providing Corvette with a more swept back look that was synonymous with speed. For another, it was decided that the faux hood louvers would be eliminated, returning the Corvette to a semblance of its former self. While these features were key identifiers of the 1958 Corvette, there was no question that the elimination of the excessive chrome would reduce weight and help increase performance. Much like the exterior of the Corvette, the interior received minor, but significant updates as well. Both the door handles and the armrests were repositioned and a small-item storage compartment was added beneath the passenger side grab bar. In addition, both the driver and passenger seats were redesigned to offer increased lateral support of their occupants. All tachometers now indicated up to 7,000 rpm and offered redline and safe limit indicators. Sun visors were introduced to the 1959 Corvette as a new option and concave instrument lenses replaced the flat covers of the 1958 Corvette, thereby reducing sun glare (and other reflections) that might cause a driver to become distracted. 1940 Ford Deluxe Flower Car

1940 Ford Deluxe Flower Car

Engine: Flathead V8
Transmission: 3-Speed Manual
Mileage: 21,896 ( undocumented )

Gateway Classic Cars of Chicago is excited to offer this very unique 1940 Ford Super Deluxe Flower Car once again. If you're scratching your head thinking "I've never seen one of those before!" It's probably because you most likely have not. This 1940 Ford Deluxe was produced by the Ford Motor Company and then converted by The Eureka Manufacturing Company of Rock Falls Illinois into a flower car. Essentially starting out as a 5-window coupe, the conversion lengthened the chassis and the convertible rear casket compartment was created with metal rollers and pins to store the side rails that would hold flowers in place. This car had a dual use of being enclosed with the original canvas cover for the less elaborate funerals and having the rear compartment cover removed and side rails installed for a more elaborate send off. Flower cars were popular during the middle of the century and now are rarely seen in modern funerals. While most if not all of these conversions done by Eureka were on General Motors vehicles this one being a Ford and not a Packard or Cadillac makes this highly obscure and is believed to be the only one ever made. This car was purchased new in 1940 and check out the original photos of the car being delivered. Now fast forward 78 years and you will notice that not much has really changed. This is an original, unmolested, unrestored car that still retains the original paint, original canvas cover, original interior and powertrain. Now is your chance to own something that nobody else has and enter the world of Professional Car Collectors. Surely this will be the only one at whatever show you attend and thanks to years of maintenance and recent service work performed this car is ready for the road and will cruise at highway speeds. New parts include brake shoes, wheel and master cylinders, brake hoses, rear axle seals, new points set, fuel tank, fuel pump and carburetor overhaul. Located in our Chicago showroom, this 1940 Ford Deluxe Flower Car can be seen including an HD video and pictures at www.gatewayclassiccars.com.
