For sale in our in our St. Louis showroom is classic 1940 Ford 2 Door Convertible. Hop in this 1940 Ford drop top for a parade or a nice cruise on a Sunday afternoon. This 40' Ford Convertible has been restored to its original condition, and is powered by its original Flat Head V8 engine and 3 speed manual transmission "3 on the tree." The electrical system has been updated from the 6 volt system to a 12 volt system. Recent brake work includes new brake shoes and wheel cylinders. A new carburetor, battery, thermostat, and wiper motor have also been recently replaced. This 1940 Ford was been painted in a 1968 Mercury cream yellow, which looks absolutely fantastic against the dark red vinyl interior. The paint and interior are in good condition, they both show some signs of wear, but it is minor wear. A new gauge cluster with AutoMeter gauges was added with the 12 volt system, and looks great. A new tan convertible top was also installed. The tan cloth top against the cream yellow exterior paint and red wheels with wide wall tires looks very period correct, and will not disappoint. Powered by the legendary 350 CID V8 small block Chevrolet v8 engine mated to a Turbo 350 automatic transmission. This awesome driving machine has only covered 2,000 miles since the build was completed. The exterior of the vehicle is done in a gorgeous, vibrant red with custom pinstriping. The cabin is a lovely place to sit and features excellently finished cloth and leather seats, AM/FM radio, seat belts and most importantly for those hot summer days, air conditioning. The standard Ford inherited the grille of the 1939 model with blackout on each side of a heavy chrome center; heavier headlight surrounds serve as another major differentiator from the 1939. 1940 was the last year of the 1937 design. Sealed-beam headlights were one of the few major advances for 1940, while a hydraulic top was new on the convertible. The 1937-1940 generation of Fords is one of the most popular automobiles for hot rodding. Early stock car racing drivers also used Fords of this generation among other cars. Power comes from a 1953 Mercury V8 Flathead that has been fitted with a 3/4 race Comp Cams camshaft, a decked set of cylinder heads for more compression, Brassworks radiator and a 12 volt electrical system. Power is sent through a "3 on the tree" manual. Both the engine and transmission have roughly 1,000 miles since the rebuild and offer issue free enjoyment. The engine was professionally built at Flatland Flatheads out of Oklahoma City. This car will turn heads with the sound alone. Painted in an inconspicuous Clay with a tan interior and a set of period correct hubcaps. The front end has dropped front axle that offers a lowered ride height and is fitted with confident inspiring front disc brakes. Adding to the great ride is a set of radial tires and some comfy leather seats. Inside,the restored gauges have been rewired for the 12 volt system. Gateway Classic Cars of Chicago is excited to offer this very unique 1940 Ford Super Deluxe Flower Car once again. If you're scratching your head thinking "I've never seen one of those before!" It's probably because you most likely have not. This 1940 Ford Deluxe was produced by the Ford Motor Company and then converted by The Eureka Manufacturing Company of Rock Falls Illinois into a flower car. Essentially starting out as a 5-window coupe, the conversion lengthened the chassis and the convertible rear casket compartment was created with metal rollers and pins to store the side rails that would hold flowers in place. This car had a dual use of being enclosed with the original canvas cover for the less elaborate funerals and having the rear compartment cover removed and side rails installed for a more elaborate send off. Flower cars were popular during the middle of the century and now are rarely seen in modern funerals. While most if not all of these conversions done by Eureka were on General Motors vehicles this one being a Ford and not a Packard or Cadillac makes this highly obscure and is believed to be the only one ever made. This car was purchased new in 1940 and check out the original photos of the car being delivered. Now fast forward 78 years and you will notice that not much has really changed. This is an original, unmolested, unrestored car that still retains the original paint, original canvas cover, original interior and powertrain. Now is your chance to own something that nobody else has and enter the world of Professional Car Collectors. The monster 468 CID V8 engine with its giant blower is neatly engineered to fit under the tilt hood, providing for a very inconspicuous look…if you can get around the flames on the hood, that is. The door handles have been shaved for a sleeker and more simplified look. The custom flame paint job on the truck looks great from any distance. Definitely a talking point from a cosmetic stand point. The truck has undergone many modifications, increasing power dramatically. However, components like suspension and brakes have not been overlooked. You will notice the beefy brakes (which stop the truck with excellent power) and the 4-link suspension setup. Even with the power level that this truck is at, it stays straight and true under heavy acceleration. The sound is amazing from this truck. The custom exhaust setup, along with the whine of the supercharger, definitely puts a big smile on your face. This truck is no slouch but it it’s a lot tamer than you may thing for road usage. The current owner has driven long distances with no fusses. The 3-speed transmission is geared so that you can cruise on the highway without overrevving the engine. Even with the modifications, the truck stays cool in the Texas heat. The wooden bed is in great condition and the custom vinyl interior is a comfy place to be. It even has power windows! Other upgrades include racing aluminum alloy wheels, posi-traction, tilt wheel and new Mickey Thompson tires. The Ford F-Series was redesigned by Ford for 1953 with a more integrated look. The pickups also obtained their widely familiar names: The F-1 now became the F-100, the F-2 and F-3 now became the F-250, and the F-4 now became the 1-ton F-350. 1930 Ford Model A for sale in our Atlanta Showroom location is ready for its next owner. This beauty is painted in a mirror Black paint with red pin striping, red wire wheels with white walls. It looks fresh and runs just as good! The 4-cylinder engine and manual transmission still power this Model A down the road and a lot of new parts keep it running right. The consignor states the engine and transmission have under 300-miles since the rebuild, with a new starter and new alternator. Options aren’t limited on this beauty – that include cloth interior, wire wheels with hub caps, bias ply tires, radiator guard, dual side mounts, dual side mirrors, truck rack and trunk. The Model A was the first Ford to use the standard set of driver controls with conventional clutch and brake pedals, throttle, and gearshift. Previous Fords used controls that had become uncommon to drivers of other makes. The Model A's fuel tank was situated in the cowl, between the engine compartment's fire wall and the dash panel. It had a visual fuel gauge, and the fuel flowed to the carburetor by gravity. A rear-view mirror was optional. In cooler climates, owners could purchase an aftermarket cast iron unit to place over the exhaust manifold to provide heat to the cab. A small door provided adjustment of the amount of hot air entering the cab. The Model A was the first car to have safety glass in the windshield. Almost 5 million Model A Fords were produced in 9 different body styles before it was replaced by the Ford Model B. The last year of the first-generation Mustang, 1973, saw several styling changes for the iconic pony car. The front bumper was enlarged to meet new NHTSA standards and was now urethane. The sport lamps were turned into turn signals since the new bumper covered the old turn signal location. A person could also order Mach 1 decals as part of the Exterior Decor Group option. This Mustang has been owned by the same individual for the last 20 years. He received it from his neighbor as a gift! I wish I had a neighbor like that. Powering this 73' Mustang is a 351 CID V8 engine, and a 3-speed automatic transmission transfers the power to the pavement. The engine and transmission are both believed to be original to the car. The odometer reads 32,486, which is believed to be the actual mileage on the car.
