Gateway Classic Cars of St. Louis is proud to offer a very well built 1939 Chevrolet Tudor Street Rod. This street rod has been lovingly assembled to be one bad street terrorizing machine. The rod sits on a professionally built chassis with a lot of support to handle a ton of horsepower if it even needed to. The front end has a dropped straight axle, and the rear has a custom 4 link set up. The front has disc brakes, with drums in the rear. She rides on a refinished set of vintage American Racing wheels wrapped in Mickey Thompson rubber and Drag radials in the rear. The body has been beautifully restored with Dupont Chroma Pearl Yellow that really pops in the sunlight. The body has been chopped for a more aggressive look, but it still provides plenty of headroom. The panel gaps fit very nicely and the doors close like a much newer vehicle. It has a custom flame scheme for a retro look and as a neat touch, the flames even cover the underside of the front fenders. To match, the interior has been upholstered in bright yellow as well. There's two buckets and the rear houses a welded in roll bar. The Chevy even has a custom Pete and Jake's steering wheel. Under the hood is a nicely dressed 454 CID Big Block V8. It wears finned aluminum valve covers which are vintage Moon items. The 454 is fairly stock, runs well on pump gas, and makes a great cruiser. The transmission is a TH400 with a shift kit that shifts nice and firm. The engine breathes through 3" stainless exhaust with Flowmaster mufflers unless you oncork the side exits which allow for much more noise. Overall this is a well thought out, well put together street rod. Freshly-minted and now for sale in our Houston showroom is this spectacular all-steel 1938 Chevrolet Coupe. Cloaked in a pristine Porsche Guards Red PPG finish, this is one for all ages. The restoration started with the steel body shell, and a Superior Glass Works Chassis, with fully boxed steel frame rails. Everything was taken to bare metal before any finish work was begun. A new LS3 crate motor was installed, with a FAST intake and FAST fuel rails. A set of coated shorty headers and a full stainless 2.5” exhaust setup, complete with stainless X-pipe, scavenges the spent fuel to the rear with a throaty burble. To the aft of the beefy powerplant, a new 6L80E 6-speed automatic transmission with a 3200RPM stall torque converter to aid in providing excellent launches. The 6-speed auto provides excellent highway cruising capabilities, with surprisingly efficient operation. There are two dual finned-aluminum transmission coolers for the tranny to help it keep it at optimum temperature during spirited driving. Controlling the 6L80E’s shifts is a Corvette-style shifter, complete with electronic paddle-shift control capabilities on the gear knob. You’ll feel comfortable knowing that you can drive this thing like its sportscar powertrain wants you to, with handling and ride to match. The front end is a complete Heidts SupeRide II independent front suspension, with tubular upper and lower control arms, sway bar, QA1 adjustable coil-over shocks, 12” Wilwood disk brakes and calipers, and a power rack and pinion steering setup. Out back are QA1’s, a triangulated 4-bar link setup, torsion-style sway bar, an all-new quick-change Currie Ford 9” rear end and third member with 2.75:1 gears and a True-Track limited slip differential, and 11” Wilwood disk brakes and calipers complete with E-brake. The power-assisted braking setup is also equipped with a proportioning valve, allowing for fine-tuning the front/rear braking balance. A set of Nitto performance radials (215/50-17 front, 235/65-17 rear) wrapped around American Racing Salt Flat Special 5-hole wheels help keep this retro-rod stuck to the pavement. Inside this modernized classic, you’ll find that all the chrome trim shines like it’s brand new, and it is abundant. From the chrome window surrounds, windshield and rear window trim, to the door and window levers, everything glistens. There are a few hidden secret gems, too: the chrome window cranks don’t move – a light touch upward will raise the power windows, and a similar light touch will lower them. Equipped with what seems to be power everything, this car has plenty of creature comforts that one wouldn’t expect in a vintage auto. Power windows, power locks, a trick Painless “Phantom Key” Keyless Ignition with a proximity-sensing key fob (which provides a very cool pushbutton start and is part of the security system), custom Vintage Air system with billet nozzles, and power seats with 8-way adjustability and lumbar support cover most of the features, but not all. In addition, there is a Bluetooth compatible audio system that has near audiophile sound, USB ports on the console, cupholders, LED interior (and exterior) lighting, and tilt steering wheel all add up to providing a supremely comfortable, modern-feeling ride. The tinted glass all around help the Vintage Air system keep things cold in the summer, and toasty in those colder months (for when you can’t wait to drive this beauty until Spring). And, you’ll want to drive this car year-round, because when you’re in the cabin, the smell of the custom furniture-grade leather is intoxicating. This superb leather covers nearly everything including the headliner, and it provides such a pleasant aroma that it will make Bentley and Rolls owners jealous. If you do get caught in the rain, the 2-speed electric windshield wipers will keep your forward vision clear, and the powerful LED head- and tail-lights will keep the road lit (and keep you visible). Fresh enough to look fantastic and enough miles to work out any bugs. This one is ready to enjoy! Power comes from a well built 355 Chevy small block V8 with a mild camshaft and a great exhaust note. Power is sent through a 700-R4 automatic overdrive and back to a Ford 9 inch housing 3.55 gears. Power four wheel disc provide strong and confident braking. A Mustang II designed front suspension aides in great steering and road feel. The Mustang II includes power rack and pinion steering with upper and lower control arms. In addition to the beautifully laid yellow paint, the car features a one piece windshield, all new tinted glass, frenched antenna, a recessed rear license plate plus a hideaway front license plate, custom headlights with built in turn signals and a roll pan for the front, rear and sides in place of the old running boards. Inside the attention to detail continues with a very unique yellow and aqua two toned leather interior. Classic Instruments adorn the dash with easy to read gauges. A tall shifter by Lokar makes for easy gear selection. Just ahead of the Lokar shifter are controls for the Vintage Air unit and above that is a new Sony Xplode CD player. For sale in our Dallas-Fort Worth showroom is this gorgeous tuxedo black 1959 Chevrolet Corvette convertible. This stunning car has a beautiful red interior, a 270 hp 2x4 solid lift 283 with a 4-speed transmission and wide whitewalls with knockoff hubcaps. To the credit of all involved, the 1959 Corvette was “cleaned up” considerably. For one, the chrome “suspenders” were removed from the design, providing Corvette with a more swept back look that was synonymous with speed. For another, it was decided that the faux hood louvers would be eliminated, returning the Corvette to a semblance of its former self. While these features were key identifiers of the 1958 Corvette, there was no question that the elimination of the excessive chrome would reduce weight and help increase performance. Much like the exterior of the Corvette, the interior received minor, but significant updates as well. Both the door handles and the armrests were repositioned and a small-item storage compartment was added beneath the passenger side grab bar. In addition, both the driver and passenger seats were redesigned to offer increased lateral support of their occupants. All tachometers now indicated up to 7,000 rpm and offered redline and safe limit indicators. Sun visors were introduced to the 1959 Corvette as a new option and concave instrument lenses replaced the flat covers of the 1958 Corvette, thereby reducing sun glare (and other reflections) that might cause a driver to become distracted.
