For sale at Gateway Classic Cars is 1968 Chevrolet Corvette. This two-top convertible is powered by the bad to the bone numbers matching L-71 427. The L-71 is fitted with solid lifters, high compression pop up pistons, steel crank, 4 bolt mains and triple Holley two-barrel carburetors. This is an entirely different animal than the 400-horsepower hydraulic lifter 427. Horsepower figures are not far off between the two with the L-71 being rated at 435. GM was notorious for under rating their engines. The 435 horsepower was measured at 5,800 RPM, however this engine makes peak power near 6,000 RPM and true power is closer to 450HP.
This beautiful example is painted in Polar White with a Black soft top, Black vinyl covered auxiliary hard top and Black vinyl interior. Other equipment includes, optional Bright Metal Wheel Covers, Power Brakes, AM/FM radio, Red stripe Firestones, 3.70 Posi-Traction, M-21 Close ratio Muncie 4-speed and Transistorized ignition. Included with the sale is the original Tank Sticker! The frame off restoration was completed in 2001 and paint was resprayed one year ago and looks fantastic. For more information on this well restored and documented 1968 Chevrolet Corvette L-71 427 4-speed convertible, call 618-271-3000 or stop by our St. Louis showroom. For sale in our Nashville Tennessee showroom is a 1969 Chevrolet Corvette. But not just any 1969 Corvette, this one has had the entire book thrown at it. What book you ask? The book of body modifications. Let’s start at the front end. Under the L-88 hood is a massive 454 Big block with just the right performance upgrades like, Edelbrock ® performer intake topped with a Holley® four barrel carburetor. H.E.I distributor handles the power duties. Now for the body mods! It is hard to see any body modifications other than the Mako shark front end, but if you know where to look and just what a normal 1969 Corvette from the factory should look like, you will begin to see the work and skill it took to make this car. The Mako shark front end flows smoothly into the front wheel flares that follow the original body lines so closely that without another Corvette close by it is all but impossible to see. The flares around and over the rear tires has been done just as skillfully and the body lines there lead you to the back of this car where you will see right away 1969 Pontiac Trans Am tail lights that have been frenched into the back of this car and into the extended rear end that must have hundreds of hours of molding and sanding. Custom grill, side pipes and custom paint the list goes on and on. Needless to say this is a rolling, driving work of art. Option for this 1969 Mako Shark for sale: Air conditioning, AM/FM radio W/ compact disc player, T-tops, Power steering, Power brakes, Seat belts, Vinyl interior, and radial tires.A $237.37 document fee will be added to the sales price. Gateway Classic Cars of Houston is proud to offer up this sweet 1968 Chevrolet Corvette for sale. Between the big block power and the iconic C3 lines, this car is sure to get attention wherever it goes! Under the hood of this beauty is the big, bad 427 Tri-power V8. The ultimate development of Bill Mitchell and Zora Arkus-Duntov’s Sting Ray concept, the 1967 Corvette is a great choice for upgrading to modern powertrain, mechanicals and passenger accommodations. The final year of mid-year body styling was the least cluttered and arguably most attractive of all, one that seems to encourage builders to preserve its beauty and keep most, if not all, modifications under wraps. In this case the Sting Ray’s stock features are preserved, even to the point of using 1967 Silver Pearl paint and decorating the big-block hood with a contrasting black-Stinger accent. All the correct chrome and stainless trim has been preserved, including the classic Bowtie chromed driver’s mirror and factory-style side exhaust outlets. There is modern Corvette power under the power-actuated hood in the form of an all-aluminum GM Performance Parts LS3 V-8 engine. Rated at 430 HP in the 2008 to 2013 Corvette, this electronically fuel-injected powerplant has been tuned to crank a mighty 525 HP through a 5-speed automatic transmission to the C6 differential. A completely powder-coated, professionally fabricated custom steel-tube chassis enables the use of proven C6 front and C5 rear independent suspension with aluminum double wishbones (also powder-coated). This allows a wide choice of rolling stock; here it comprises chromed 18-inch front and 19-inch rear Aluminum wheels, shod with Toyo red-stripe tires, 275/35-19 rear and 235/40-18 front. Visible through the wheels are the red powder-coated 6-piston C6 Z06 calipers up front, and 4-piston rear Z06 binders out back, which clamp down on drilled and slotted rotors, guaranteeing rapid deceleration from hyperspeed. Inside, you'll see its spectacular distressed red leather interior, which features power windows, Vintage Air, custom red carpeting, Auto Meter gauges, bolstered seats, polished billet controls and a retro-look AM/FM radio with Bluetooth. Don’t let this Jeff Hayes-built '67 'Vette be the one that got away! Options include: Retro-style AM/FM Stereo Radio with Bluetooth, Chromed Aluminum Wheels, Custom Red Distressed Leather, Power Brakes, Power Steering, Radial Tires, Seat Belts, and Tilt Steering Wheel.
