We are excited to offer for sale in our Saint Louis Showroom is a classic 1937 Ford Pheaton.
This 37’ Pheaton is powered by a Flathead V8 engine, which is believed to be original to the car, as is the 3 speed manual transmission that transfers the power to the pavement. This 37’ Ford Pheaton is finished in a dark blue exterior paint. The saddle brown leather interior creates a wonderful color combination against the dark blue paint and light brown cloth convertible top. The odometer reads 17,947, but the actual mileage is unknown. Options for this 1937 Ford Pheaton include: AM Radio (inoperable), Manual Convertible Top, Leather Interior, Hub Caps, and Wide White Wall Radial Tires.
The Phaeton body style differs from a convertible in that it does not have a winding or sliding windows in the doors nor does it have a permanent, fixed roof. Due to the lack of a rigid or fixed roof, the Phaeton was much lighter than a convertible. The Phaeton body style was faded out after the convertible style became much more popular with its ability to be driven in all types of weather. The last Phaeton to be mass produced by an American manufacturer was the 1948 Willys-Overland Jeepster. For sale in our Nashville show room is this very original 1938 Ford DeLuxe four door convertible! While the vast majority of automobiles built in the U.S. in the late 1930s had closed bodies, open cars still carried an aura of luxury and exclusivity. Even Ford, which perfected mass production, introduced a new open car that combined the best features of a closed body, a cabriolet, and a four-door sedan into one single design. Offered only in DeLuxe trim, the distinctive Convertible Sedan drew many prospective buyers into Ford showrooms. This example came from a car museum in the Southeast and left the factory with nearly every one of the 20+ factory options for the year and model. These included deluxe hubcaps, deluxe wheels, cigarette lighter, side mirrors, dash clock, bumper guards, glove box, and many more! This car came with an 85 bhp, 221 cu. in. V-8 engine with a two-barrel Stromberg carburetor, three-speed manual transmission, solid front axle with transverse leaf spring, semi-floating rear axle with transverse leaf spring , and four-wheel mechanical drum brakes. The car has been outfitted with a few newer parts to improve drivability and safety. The upgrades include a new griffin radiator to handle the rigors of modern driving, new distributor and coil, new battery, and an alternator conversion. It’s not everyday that Gateway Classic Cars is given the pleasure to offer a vehicle that was built, documented, and owned by the same individual. What you see here is fantastic mix of 50’s east coast, patina rod, and rat rod stylings that took over 3 years to complete. This 1936 Ford Pickup is the final build of a man’s 45 year legacy of constructing custom rods. The build began with a fully customized frame. The rear is “Z’ed” approximately 10” to make way for a truly sinister stance. Unlike other rat rods, the ’36 Ford truck cab was lovingly restored, channeled 4”, and all cancerous rust was removed and replaced with new metal before being finished in Flat Black. The powertrain boasts an ever-popular and rebuilt/resealed 300 hp Chevy 350 small block pushing 9:1 compression which calls for 87 octane fuel. Lake-style headers provide the driver with an aggressive exhaust note. Behind the mildly-cammed Chevy 350 sits a TH350 3 speed automatic transmission with shift kit, custom driveshaft, and Ford 9” posi rear end with coilovers. The front suspension has been donned with manual rack and pinion steering, period-correct drop axle, and leaf spring. Manual disc brakes from an Impala with new stainless steel lines are utilized up front, while the rear is capped with drums. All gauges are in working order. The 14 gallon fuel cell will provide this build with a longer journey capacity than most custom rods. The car is correctly titled as a 1936 Ford, which can sometimes prove difficult depending on which state you seek approval, and the VIN is stamped both in the frame and firewall. Simply put, you can NOT put a custom rod like this together for even twice the modest sticker price. This ’36 Ford would be a fantastic initiation for anyone interested in entering the world of custom rodding, and all of the difficult work has been performed by a veteran and professional of the automotive business. The 350 CID Tune Port Injection crate engine that powers this 38' Ford features an intake that has been painted to match the exterior burgundy paint, and several chrome goodies as well to accent and beautify the engine bay. It also comes with a 200R overdrive transmission that was rebuilt approximately 1,000 miles ago transfers the power to the 9" Versaille rear end that houses 3.50 gears. The body of this 36’ Ford is all steel except the rear fenders, which are fiberglass. The Autumn Copper is a Nissan color, it was applied in 2013, and it looks amazing, so rich and deep. The beautiful white leather interior also looks fantastic and is accented by the white steering wheel and column, and white faced AutoMeter gauges. To keep the dash and interior looking clean and age appropriate, the AM/FM head unit was mounted behind the driver’s seat. There is a remote that controls the radio, so you do not have to stop the car to change anything radio related, i.e. volume or radio station. Powering this awesome Ford is a 402 CID V8 engine with aluminum valve covers, a polished aluminum Edlebrock intake, and an Edelbrock carburetor. Headers flow from the engine to the FlowMaster mufflers combining for an excellent sound. An aluminum radiator with an electric fan helps keep this big block V8 cool on hot days, while the A/C keeps the passengers cool inside the cab. A TH-350 automatic transmission transfers the power to the 12-bolt rear end. For optimal steering and handling a Heidts Super Ride front end has been installed as well as power brakes, including disc up front. The odometer reads 4,571, which represents the mileage put on the car since the build was complete. For sale at Gateway Classic Cars in our St. Louis showroom is a 1936 Ford Tudor. This beautiful street rod has covered a modest 1,600 miles since its full frame off restoration last year. The restoration started as well as anyone can ask for, a rust free body. The only non original metal on the build are the fiberglass running boards. The rest of the car is original steel. Prior to the restoration, the car had been stored in a garage since 1946 with an original 27,000 miles! Even though the car was very solid, the restorer decided to upgrade the chassis to a Pete and Jake frame. This is a great upgrade to handle the added power coming from the Vortec 350 V8. Other upgrades and street rod themed parts include power four wheel disc brakes, Vintage Air A/C system, new front and rear suspension, 8.8 rear end with 3.73 gears, 700 R4 overdrive automatic transmission, tilt steering column, digital gauges, all new glass, new top, Walker radiator, new high end interior by Sew Fine Interiors of St. Louis and of course wheels and tires. The wheel and tire combo are 17 inch up front and 20 inch out back for a great staggered look. The bumpers were all rechromed and the paint is PPG base/clear Dark Purple Pearl. Now for sale in Gateway Classic Cars Houston is this awesome 1936 Ford Special Deluxe. Finished in Green with a Gray interior, this vintage classic really looks the part. It is powered by a 1942 85hp 221 CID Ford V8 mated to a 2-speed transmission with reverse. The vehicle shows 2725 miles on the odometer, but it is unknown if this is actual or not. Chevrolet regained the sales lead at the end of 1936, but the Ford still sold extremely well. A new club cabriolet model was introduced with a fully framed windshield and weatherproof top, and the convertible sedan gained the popular integrated trunk back design. The look was updated with an inverted pentagonal grille with all-vertical bars beneath a prominent hood and three horizontal chrome side strips (on Deluxe models). A concealed horn, long a prominent part of the Ford's design, also brought the car into modern times. The new trucks continued with the old grille. Other major changes for 1936 were the use of pressed steel "artillery" solid wheels instead of wire wheels. This car has been modernized and features conveniences like air conditioning, heating, AM/FM radio, spare tire, jack, functioning brake lights, working horn and a kill switch to preserve battery for times when the car may be sitting. The 302 CID Chevrolet engine that powers this T-Bucket has a Weiand 144 blower, forged internals, ported and polished heads, Lunati valve train, and runs on 13 to 1 compression. A Shotgun Bill scoop sits on top of the engine creating a menacing look and also feeds the Edelbrock 850 CFM carburetor the necessary air it needs to do its job. This all amounts to a whopping 510 horsepower! The TH350 automatic transmission has a stage 2 shift kit and a 3200-3500 stall converter to help transfer the power to the built Chrysler 8 ¾ rear end with Auburn Posi-Traction and 3.73 gears. The PPG black paint is accented nicely with the red vinyl interior. A door on the passenger side allows for an easier entry and exit of the tub. This T sits on Weld Racing Rodlite wheels with some big fat bias-ply Mickey Thompsons on the back, and smaller Nexen radials up front. Disc brakes adorn all for corners, and coil over shocks are in the rear to provide as nice a ride as possible for this T-Bucket. The odometer reads 645, which represents the mileage put on the car since the build was complete approximately 14 years ago. Gateway Classic Cars of Chicago is proud to present this beautiful 1965 Ford Mustang Convertible. Upon the birth of the Mustang in 1964, the American working class was finally offered an affordable entry into the world of hobbyist vehicles. Upon decoding the VIN and doorplate, we learn that this Mustang was birthed in the Dearborn, MI plant, before being DSO’d to Lansing, MI. The car has undergone a loving restoration in the past, but has managed to retain its originality in terms of powerplant, Rangoon Red exterior, and interior color. This Pony is a “C-Code car”, meaning that she was optioned with a 289 CID 2V V8 with a matching C4 automatic from the factory, as well as a power top, power steering, and power brakes, making this Mustang extremely approachable in terms of ownership. All too often, these pony cars were sent out the door with a 170 or 200 CID inline 6 cylinder. This C-Code Stang, however, supplies the driver with steadfast confidence in the car’s ability to move comfortably up steep inclines with minimal throttle. Lovingly assembled and maintained, every receipt for this 3-window build was saved and documented during the process, guaranteeing the car’s value for years to come. This ’34 is rocking a powdercoated Pete & Jake’s chassis, pinched in the front, and bobbed in the rear to give this custom a truly sinister stance. A Redneck Street Rods ’34 fiberglass body sits upon the frame with a professional 5” channeling and a 2 5/8” chop. Redneck produces the finest bodies in the street rodding business, and is the go-to body for builders across the globe due to its superior manufacturing. The coupe is finished in DuPont Black Pearl with several coats of DuPont clear. Upon further inspection, you will find a very subtle Blue Pearl, Orange Pearl and Red Pearl ghost flame striking down the front of the hood. In respect to drivability, the coupe has been outfitted with Aldan coilovers on all four corners, Wilwood brakes, and a Currie Ford 9” rear end. The powerplant is hosted by a SBC 350 Edelbrock crate motor pushing 450hp to the crank, paired to a 4L60E Bowler transmission with a Lokar floor shifter and Inland Empire polished aluminum driveshaft. The customization continues with staggered 18” and 20” Colorado Customs wheels, Colorado Customs steering wheel, Classic gauges, pushbutton start, custom stereo/CD player, fully customized leather interior, and Vintage Air air conditioning.
