Gateway Classic Cars of Tampa is proud to offer this extremely rare 1971 Mercury Cougar Convertible 429 Cobra Jet Ram Air. Are you the type of person that likes to own unique pieces? Well, it does not get much more unique than this ‘71 Cougar. At first glance you may think, what is that? It is not your average looking ‘67 Cougar. This ‘71 cougar exudes a classy, sophisticated attitude. The Wembledon White adds to the upscale feel along with the white convertible top. The body of this beauty is in excellent shape and shows well with the bright chrome.

Take a look at the interior and you’ll quickly notice this ‘71 Cougar is triple white. Talk about a clean looking car! The interior is comfortable yet sporty. Everything about the inside of this car screams relaxing, but the “T” handle 4-speed says otherwise. One look at the shifter and you will quickly realize you are in for a treat when you sit in the driver’s bucket seat.

If the transmission did not reveal this is a “Muscle Car”, the 429 Cobra Jet Ram Air surely will. There were only three engine options available in 1971 with the 429 Cobra Jet four-barrel V8 being the biggest of them all. The matching numbers 429 Cobra Jet puts out a ground pounding 370 horse power and 450 pounds of torque. This Cougar gives you the best of both worlds – comfort and muscle!

There were only 47 convertibles built with the 429CJ engine. This option makes the car extremely rare and a sound investment. How many of the 47 total produced still exist? Currently there are 94 ‘71 Cougar Cobra Jet’s accounted for and only 32 are convertibles. This very special car comes with a Marti Report so there’s no mistaking this car is what it claims to be.

Options include AM Radio, Automatic Convertible Top, Hub Caps, Posi Traction, Power Steering, Tilt Steering Wheel, Power Disc Brakes, Ram Air Induction, and Power Windows.

Engine: 289 CID V8
Transmission: 3 Speed Automatic
Mileage: 4,353 ( undocumented )

Our Detroit Showroom is proud to offer a super rare 1965 Mercury Comet Cyclone. For 1965, the Comet Cyclone was powered by the 289-cu.in. V-8 with 225hp, the same engine that was put into Mustangs. And for more power, there was a special high-performance package, better known as "Hi-Po," available with the Cyclone, and it shared the 271hp V-8 which, when installed in a Mustang, was known as the "K" code car. Powering this gorgeous Comet Cyclone is a 289-cu.in. V-8 with 225hp at 4,400 rpm and 305-lbs.ft. of torque at 3,200 rpm, with 9.30:1 compression. The cylinder blocks were built with durable precision-cast alloy iron, five main bearings, hydraulic lifters, a Ford C5MF-9510-A four-barrel carburetor, and the correct code for this engine is "C." The interior on this 1965 Mercury Comet Cyclone is a pristine Ivory vinyl sporting buckets and a console. The Cyclone interior features all-foam bucket seats with pleated vinyl covers over laminated fiber and foam, which gave the Cyclone the most luxurious seats in its class. A console was also standard equipment with the Cyclone. The unique door panels with pleated vinyl, bright upper and lower moldings, black vinyl insert and Cyclone nameplate, also in black, adorned the garnish molding, according to factory literature. You can enjoy cruising features like Air Conditioning and Power Steering while kicking back in your comfortable interior. If you are looking a collectible Mercury, look no further.
