Gateway Classic Cars of Tampa is proud to offer this excellent one of a kind 1966 Lincoln Continental Convertible. This particular car is one of only two in the world that feature a 1969 model conversion, making it truly rare and unique. Only two examples of this car exist, with one sitting on display in a museum in California and is only used for parades, and the other is sitting right here in our showroom! The 1969 Continental that is iconic with prestige and class was never offered in a convertible despite its high demand to do so. Instead, the Continental convertible was produced only until 1967 and was abruptly discontinued due to Federal highway safety laws during the late 1960s. This Lincoln Continental started life as a 1966 Continental, raised in California, and the overhaul was professionally done to convert over to a 1969 body. This Lincoln still has the original numbers matching 462 cubic inch V8, and original 4 Speed automatic transmission. This car was considered at one time to be the peak of luxury, and arguable still is, with the unbelievably comfortable leather interior and every option you could ever want. This car is complete with multiple luxury options, including the passenger mirror, which was a very expensive option back in 1966, as well as full power windows, vent windows and tilt steering. Both seats are fully adjustable with power assist and complete with the center console. Possible the most impressive feature, however, is the absolutely stunning Mediterranean Iridescent paint job, which was painted in a near mirror finish, and when accented with the beautiful Parchment Vinyl top, really shows off a certain sense of class. The 1966 Lincoln Continental was the ultimate luxury vehicle, and gave the driver of it the perfect combination of both style and comfort.

Options include A/C, AM/FM Radio, Automatic Convertible Top, Hub Caps, Power Brakes, Power Steering, Power Locks, Power Seats, Power Windows, Tilt Wheel, Seat Belts, Leather Interior, White Walls, Wire Wheels, Radial Tires and a numbers matching engine. If you want to be unique and talk to everyone at the car shows, this is the car for you! To see this car in better detail, including over 100+ high definition pictures and a full length high definition video, please go to www.gatewayclassiccars.com. Transmission: 3 Speed Automatic
Mileage: 91,245 ( undocumented )

Although shedding nearly 15 inches in length and 8 inches in wheelbase over its 1960 Lincoln Continental Mark V predecessor, the new model was nevertheless heavier than its Cadillac or Imperial counterparts. Lincoln was certainly ahead of its time, when it came to luxury with this model. This one comes with a functioning/working A/C unit sure to keep you cool when cruising this big body vehicle around. 1973 Lincoln Continental Mark IV

1973 Lincoln Continental Mark IV

Engine: 460 CID V8
Transmission: C6 3-speed Automatic
Mileage: 18,596 ( actual )

Gateway Classic Cars of Houston has a rare opportunity for you to purchase a family owned since new, 18,596 original mile, 1973 Lincoln Mark IV! This car is original down to the tires that haven’t been changed since it was new. The current owner is the 3rd in his family to obtain the car but the Grandfather was the original purchaser. Powering this personal luxury car is a brutish 460 CID (7.5L) Ford 385 V8 engine mated to the C6 3-speed automatic transmission which are original to the car. 1973 was the second year for the successor to the Mark III. It grew in size and weight from its predecessor and was designed with the Cadillac Eldorado rival in mind. It certainly competed very well. It shared a common chassis with the Ford Thunderbird and was given its own exterior design from the windows down, returning hidden headlights, a radiator-style grille and a continental spare tire trunk lid. All the Continental Mark IVs were assembled at the Wixom assembly plant in Wixom, Michigan alongside the standard Lincoln Continental and the Ford Thunderbird. This was certainly a heavy car, coming in at a heft 5,264lbs! It feels like the kind of car you could drive through a wall without noticing. 1973 saw a major redesign, necessitated by the addition of the 5mph bumpers; in various forms, the front body style would be seen on Continentals and Lincolns until 1989. The engine in the Mark IV was rated considerably lower in both hp and torque than the 460 CID V8 used in the previous generation, however, this is largely due to that fact that they changed how they rated hp. Nationwide companies were made to switch from SAE gross to SAE net hp. This was done to better reflect real world hp figures. The compression ratio was lowered to comply with emissions standards but in many cases it only lowered power by around 10%. The SAE net hp of this car was 212.1hp which pushed this big brute to 120mph and could reach 60 in 10.8 seconds. Considering the car weighs as much as a modern-day Tahoe this was impressive for the year! Inside you will find AM/FM radio, cassette stack, spare tire, cruise control, power brakes, power steering, power locks, jack, power windows, ABS, tilt wheel, leather interior and radial tires. Don’t miss this chance to own this one. Contact Gateway Classic Cars of Houston at (832) 243-6220 for more information on the car, financing information or to talk about purchasing. You can also email us at houston@gatewayclassiccars.com. The car is in our showroom at 1910 Cypress Station Dr #200, Houston, TX 77090. If you are seeing the car advertised anywhere other than www.gatewayclassiccars.com then please visit the vehicle’s homepage for more info, pictures and a video of the car running and driving http://www.gatewayclassiccars.com/HOU/1255/1973-Lincoln-Mark-IV.
