For sale in our Dallas/Fort Worth showroom is a one owner 1972 Chevrolet C-10. True, that is what it is at its core, but it has undergone a fantastic restoration and modification less than 4,000 miles ago. This was not just paint and upholster job either. This was a full frame off build. While disassembled, all of the parts you can’t see were treated like they are the center piece of the build. The chassis was powder coated. Custom sway bars were installed front and rear, along with tubular upper and lower A-arms, 2.5” drop spindles, and air bag suspension front and rear. The frame was C notched in the rear and the rails boxed. Willwood 4 wheel disc brakes and master cylinder are hiding behind the custom painted 17” Ralley wheels.
Why put such a serious brake package on this truck you ask? Well, that is rein in the monster tri-power 427 under the hood. This Big Block Chevy was donated from a 60’s Corvette. The factory carburetors were reworked by Holley. The engine has been bored .030 over and now sports Keith Black pistons, roller rockers, coated Sanderson headers, a high torque starter, 100 amp alternator, electric fuel pump, HEI ignition, and has been blueprinted and balanced. Keeping this monster cool are dual fans with a custom shroud pulling air through a 3 row radiator. There is even a secondary temperature gauge under the hood to prove that cooling system is going to work, along with another voltage gauge and oil pressure gauge. The fire wall has been smoothed, and the A/C and heater lines were hidden to further clean up this gorgeous engine bay.
After wiping away the drool that has formed from under this hood, you’ll want to keep that rag handy as the exterior of this truck continues to provide plenty of visual stimulation. The custom scooped hood is a nice little touch that most will miss, as are the filled cab and door seams, and frenched headlights. If you are wondering why the wheel fitment in the rear is so good, it is because the bed was moved forward one inch to close the gap with the cab and center the rear wheels. The bumpers are from a 68 Camaro. To fit, they had to be widened, then they were tucked to the body. All of the trim on this truck was switched for stainless steel, and the monstrous 3 inch exhaust was moved to a custom side exit through the rocker panels. Wrapped in PPG Omni Black, this truck has the look to stop even the most casual car fan dead in their tracks.
In the bed, there is custom Bamboo everywhere, as well as a trunk to conceal the compressors and tank for the air ride, and additional storage. The wood treatment continues into the cab, and the leather trimmed high back seats provide a great place to command this traffic stopper.
The term “too much to list” is thrown around pretty casually these days, but here it is just a simple fact. This is a truck you will just have to see to appreciate.
