If you are looking for something that stands out in a crowd this 1960 Mercury Comet wagon is for you! Not only does it drive as good as it looks but it has a long list of custom features you will not find on other wagons. No expense was spared on the exceptional paint job when the car was taken down to bare metal and epoxy primed before being painted with the PPG mint green. The top of the car is finished off with a brilliant sliver metal flake. This car has had the door handles shaved and replaced with Lincoln push button and door poppers. Also Underneath the hood of this wagon is 302 cubic inch V8 that came out of a 1992 Ford Mustang GT. Topping off the engine is an Edelbrock carburetor and new HEI GM distributor. Helping you to cruise down the road at lower RPM’s is the 5 speed manual transmission that is paired nicely to the 302. Helping the engine breath is the dual exhaust with Bellflower tips exiting next to the rear fenders. Jamco lowering springs and air shocks with on board air compressor are what give the car it’s one off stance while maintaining the factory ride. There are disc brakes on the front of this car helping it stop better than when it was new. The rear axle is out of a 1968 Ford Mustang that has been rebuilt with 3.25 gears. Speaking of the rear of the car there is a hidden receiver hitch behind the fold down license plate. Completing the custom exterior are a set of vintage 5 lug chrome wheels with spider caps and black painted centers wrapped in new radial tires. This Comet just completed a 1,000 miles road trip to the HAMB drags while getting 23 mpg. Our Detroit Showroom is proud to offer a super rare 1965 Mercury Comet Cyclone. For 1965, the Comet Cyclone was powered by the 289-cu.in. V-8 with 225hp, the same engine that was put into Mustangs. And for more power, there was a special high-performance package, better known as "Hi-Po," available with the Cyclone, and it shared the 271hp V-8 which, when installed in a Mustang, was known as the "K" code car. Powering this gorgeous Comet Cyclone is a 289-cu.in. V-8 with 225hp at 4,400 rpm and 305-lbs.ft. of torque at 3,200 rpm, with 9.30:1 compression. The cylinder blocks were built with durable precision-cast alloy iron, five main bearings, hydraulic lifters, a Ford C5MF-9510-A four-barrel carburetor, and the correct code for this engine is "C." The interior on this 1965 Mercury Comet Cyclone is a pristine Ivory vinyl sporting buckets and a console. The Cyclone interior features all-foam bucket seats with pleated vinyl covers over laminated fiber and foam, which gave the Cyclone the most luxurious seats in its class. A console was also standard equipment with the Cyclone. The unique door panels with pleated vinyl, bright upper and lower moldings, black vinyl insert and Cyclone nameplate, also in black, adorned the garnish molding, according to factory literature. You can enjoy cruising features like Air Conditioning and Power Steering while kicking back in your comfortable interior. If you are looking a collectible Mercury, look no further. For sale in our Dallas Fort Worth showroom is a frame off restored 1966 Mercury Comet Cyclone GT. This rare piece of American history is believed to be one of only a handful made with these exact options and the factory installed fiberglass hood. Decoding the trim tag indicates that this car is an original “S” code 390 CID V8 car. The “S” code engine in 1966 was said to put out 335 horse power conservatively rated, and 427 foot pounds of torque. The interior and exterior have been beautifully restored to their original specifications, Red paint and White vinyl. Unlike the Comet Cyclone GT’s counterpart, the Ford Fairlane, this car was a very limited production number vehicle. The limited production numbers of the Comet Cyclone GT is what brings the car in to a whole different realm of collectability.
