1956 Chevrolet Nomad LS1

Engine: 5.7L LS1
Transmission: 4-Speed Automatic
Mileage: 1450 ( since rebuilt )

There was a time when this 1956 Chevrolet Nomad would have been overlooked for its hardtop siblings, but that day is long gone. Today the Nomad is near the top of every Chevy fan's wish list, and this gorgeous wagon gets a lot of things right: great colors, gorgeous interior, and a fully sorted LS1 drive train that offers more power and more comfort than you could get from the factory in 1956. There's no denying the handsome good looks of this 2-door wagon the simple '56 is the best-looking of the Tri-Five Chevys. This one also carries upscale Bel Air trim (which was the only way you could get a Nomad) that includes that dramatic side spear and all the chrome has been refinished to show standards, so it truly sparkles in the sun. Cross-country haulers just don't get much better than this. The interior has been nicely upgrades with factory seats wearing leather that looks amazing. Things like the dashboard, headliner, door panels and carpets are all nicely upgraded as well, the steering wheel is a wood-rimmed unit that's on a tilt column, and there are little vents tucked under the dash for the modern A/C system which blows ice cold. There's also an AM/FM/AUX radio that sounds pretty darned good and the gauges have been converted to digital. The cargo bay is correctly finished and offers a good deal of storage space, making this a fantastic road trip candidate. The engine is still technically a small block Chevy V8, but the 5.7 liter LS1 V8 from Street and Performance is a far cry from the original 265. It obviously fits beautifully and thanks to fuel injection and hardware, it's as reliable as your daily driver and quite a bit more powerful. The suspension uses OEM parts wherever possible to ensure reliability and easy service. A 4L60E 4-speed automatic overdrive transmission is a big part of the reason this car is such a pleasure to drive and the recent dual exhaust system has a pleasant burble at idle and just enough of an edge on the roll to let you know this isn't a stock Nomad. The undercarriage is quite clean and includes 4-wheel disc brakes, power steering, Power brakes and 17-inch Chrome 5 Spoke wheels wearing 245/45/17 front and rear performance radials. With only 1450 Miles on this restored, it has been fully sorted and ready to enjoy, this car just works like it should. With great looks, a wonderful color combination, and that timeless Nomad appeal, this car delivers in a big way. 1957 Chevrolet Nomad

Engine: 502 CID V8
Transmission: 4L80
Mileage: 1961 ( since rebuilt )

This 1957 Chevrolet Nomad is for sale in our Louisville KY showroom. The two door Nomad took a completely different approach to a station wagon than many of the era. With its styling cues being basically that of a 2 door hardtop the Nomad would enjoy the same success as the tri fives that it was based off of. Much like the 2 door hardtop models the Nomad is one of the coolest platforms to resto mod. This 57 has been built to enjoy and drive on a daily basis while taking it to high level car shows on the weekend. After a long and well thought out 5 year build the transformation was complete. The body was taken off the original frame and taken down to bare metal before being placed on a powder coated custom frame. The copper gold paint is slick and looks great while keeping with that classic 57 look. Using C4 corvette suspension the ride is sporty with the Bilstein shocks handling anything you can throw at it. The rack and pinion steering is crisp and light feeling with the custom wheels adding to the look and feel. With 4 wheel disc brakes bringing everything to halt in a hurry. Under the hood is all business with aFuel Injected Ram Jet 502 crate motor filling up the engine bay perfectly. Outfitted with Sanderson headers the exhaust note lets everyone know that there is no small block under that hood. Keeping everything at the right temp is an all-aluminum Be Cool Radiator that looks as good as it works. The 4l80e transmission routes the power to a Dana 44 rear end which has a set of 3.45’s in it making this a well suited highway hauler. The interior is a mix of classic and new with the painted dash filled with a set of custom gauges look great while being super functional. The white and black bench seat is period correct with the matching door panels tying it all together. Of course, the power windows are always nice especially when it gets a little too hot and the AC needs to be kicked on. Options on this 1957 Chevrolet Nomad include AC, AM/FM, Power Steering, Power Brakes, Power Windows, Tilt Wheel, and Aluminum Wheels wrapped in Radial Tires. 1957 Chevrolet Nomad

Engine: 283 CID V-8
Transmission: 3 Speed Automatic
Mileage: 14021 ( since rebuilt )

For sale in our Dallas/Fort Worth showroom is a very cool 1957 Chevrolet Nomad. Tri-Fives have become a symbol of Americana. From four doors, to two doors, to wagons, and convertibles, they're are loveable and enjoyable in their own way. Perhaps the most sought after, is the two door wagon known as a Nomad. The Nomad has a sleeker and sportier look than most wagons with its tilted forward B-Pillars and dramatic sloping rear tailgate. There's no question this sporty wagon has a beautiful silhouette that a whole generation can relate to. This particular Nomad has been spruced up with some tasteful touches, and undergone a very extensive restoration. The exterior is finished in a deep, dark black, with gorgeous stainless bright work down the sides. You would never believe it was done in the early 90’s unless we told you, that’s how good this paint looks. It sits on 15” gold wire wheels, which really make the rest of the gold trim pop off the sides of this car. Pop the hood, you’ll find what is believed to be the original 283 that has been bored 0.060 over with a mild cam in it to give a little extra grunt. The interior is two-tone to match the exterior with a very unique upholstery pattern. They certainly don't make interiors like they used to. This Nomad was restored about 15 years ago and has held up well since. If you're looking for a tri-five that will draw a crowd wherever you go, it's gotta be a Nomad. This Chevy is the perfect mix of high end panache and classic 50’s gusto. To view this vehicle in greater detail including HD pictures and videos, visit www.GatewayClassicCars.com. 1972 Chevrolet Nomad SS 454

Engine: 468 CID SuperCharged V8
Transmission: 3 Speed Automatic
Mileage: 6000 ( since rebuilt )

Up for sale in our Detroit Showroom is a menacing 1972 Chevrolet Nomad SS Tribute with enough power to rip the pavement up from underneath it. This SS 454 Tribute wagon is dressed in Victory Red with Polar White SS stripes going down the Cowl Induction hood. All factory style 454 SS badges and stripes are in the proper locations and the Rally wheels are painted to match the Victory Red paint. Powering this wagon is a 468cid Big Block Chevy with oval port 761 cylinder head castings. This is a complete Roller Motor with Hydraulic Roller Cam, Roller Lifters, Forged Internals and Roller Rocker Arms. The air intake is a Team G Single Plane with a 850 Demon Double-Pump Carburetor which is needed to force the right amount of fuel and air into this monstrous Nomad. The big power adder comes courtesy a Procharger D1S-C Supercharger with intercooler and custom powder-coated piping. The transmission is a completely rebuilt TH400 with a B&M 2400 Stall Converter. To make sure this Nomad can translate power to pavement, lots of suspension work has been done to make this Nomad handle like a sports car. The front suspension has B.R.E. Tubular front upper and lower A-Arms and 1” Progressive rate lowering springs. The rear suspension is also sporting B.R.E. tubular upper and lower control arms which allow you to point this Nomad straight and achieve that direction. Lakewood Ladder bars have been powder coated Victory Red and the 12 Bolt GM rear end has a nice looking Trick Flow differential support cover. The interior on this Nomad is just as impressive as the extensive restoration work that has been done. The race style two tone seats up front make sure you and your passenger are planted while shredding some rubber. This interior takes “business up front and party in the back” to a whole new level. This is the ultimate grocery getter and puts enough power down to make anybody question if their sports car is even worth it. If you have ANY questions on this Nomad, call us at 313.982.3100.
