Transmission: 3 Speed Manual
Mileage: 82,125 ( undocumented )

Now available in our DFW-Showroom is this 1955 iconic Ford Thunderbird! The Thunderbird was considered a more dignified, personal luxury cruiser during its release. It had roll-up windows and standard V-8 power, both things that were not available on the first Corvettes in the 50’s. Other features included a removable fiberglass top, a fabric convertible top, and fender skirts for the rear wheels. There was one engine for the first 1955 T-Birds, and it was the 292 cid Y-Block V-8 fitted with a single four-barrel carburetor. With the standard 3-speed manual transmission, this engine made 193 horsepower, and with the optional Ford-o-Matic transmission, it made 198 horses. The exhaust pipes for the Thunderbird were integrated into the rear fascia and above the rear bumper, giving it an unmistakable Jet-Age look. This Thunderbird has a production date of, October 23rd-1954 and is one of the first 500 Thunderbirds manufactured! It still has the original 292 cu in Y-block V8 with a 3-speed manual, plus overdrive transmission. According to the owner, who’s owned it for the last 21 + years, this car has only 81,000 original miles! Other original parts to this vehicle include- Original Hardtop, Fender-skirts, Power seat, and Original AM radio for aesthetic purposes- (which isn’t functioning due to a 12-volt conversion). Other upgraded features include: Halogen headlights, LED tail lights, Interior seat, foam, door panels, carpet, dash cover, hardtop-headliner, H.D. radiator, 6 blade fan, 12-volt electrical conversion, Pertronics ignition, alternator, Holly 4000 barrel carburetor totally rebuilt, radial tires, and a space-saver spare. Thank you for your interest in this sharp 1955 Ford Thunderbird presented by Gateway Classic Cars of Tampa. One of the most beautiful pieces of Americana, they were considered to be direct competition to the Chevrolet Corvette. Helping spawn a new generation of automobiles in the United States, and aimed to take on the European market, the Ford Thunderbird was powered by a 292 CID V8, which gave the already smaller, lighter car the power it needed to make for both an excellent road racer as well as the perfect car for older couples to sit back and enjoy a movie at the drive-in. Mated to the engine is a 2-speed automatic transmission, which allowed the car for fairly smooth shifting, but in the higher gear allowed the vehicle to cruise at highway speeds without drinking too much gas. The interior of this car is a beautiful red and white two tone seating, with red carpets throughout. The hard-top is painted in white to give the car a two-tone look. Take the top off to enjoy the beautiful weather in absolute style! The exterior is painted to match the interior, with a stunning bright red paint job with a new black top that really gives the car a high quality 1950's kind of feel. Driving a 1955 Ford Thunderbird is truly an experience one simply cannot explain, these cars are the truest form of Americana one can find. Options include AM Radio, Hub Caps, Seat Belts, Vinyl Interior, Wide White Walls, Wire Wheels, Power Steering, Power Brakes and Power seat. We are excited to offer for sale in our Saint Louis Gateway Classic Cars Showroom this beautiful Golden Rod Yellow 1955 Ford Thunderbird. This Amos Minter (of Minter’s Thunderbird in Dallas) restored 55’ T-Bird looks absolutely fantastic. Open the hood and you will see the original 292 CID 4BBL V8 engine that was rebuilt and restored to like new condition. The Ford-O-Matic automatic transmission was also rebuilt and shifts beautifully. The black and yellow interior shows very well with very little signs of usage. This is a highly optioned interior including the 4-way power seat and telescopic steering wheel. The AM radio and gauges were all rebuilt and function as they should. The 6-volt system is gone, in its place is a more modern and preferred 12-volt system. The rarely seen Golden Rod Yellow paint shines beautifully and stands proud against the gleaming brightwork on this 55’ T-Bird. The underside is just as clean and shows the detail of this quality restoration. The hard top is painted to match the body, while the soft top is black vinyl. You have the possibility of 3 different looks, yellow hard top, black vinyl top, or no top at all! The odometer reads 464, which represents the actual mileage put on the car since the restoration was complete. 1955 Ford Thunderbird

Engine: 292 CID
Transmission: Automatic
Mileage: 77,854 ( actual )

The year is 1955, The popular Western show "Gunsmoke" debuts on television., while this gorgeous black T-Bird Convertible rolls into showrooms for sale. This two-owner convertible now only has 77,854 actual miles. And was recently rebuilt in 2012. The Ford Thunderbird began life in February 1953 in direct response to Chevrolet's new sports car, the Corvette, which was publicly unveiled in prototype form just a month before. Under rapid development, the Thunderbird went from idea to prototype in about a year, being unveiled to the public at the Detroit Auto Show on February 20, 1954. It was a two-seat design available with a detachable fiber glass hard top and a folding fabric top. Production of the Thunderbird began later in 1954 on September 9 with the car beginning sales as a 1955 model on October 22, 1954. Though sharing some design characteristics with other Fords of the time, such as single, circular headlamps and tail lamps and modest tailfins, the Thunderbird was sleeker and more athletic in shape, and had features like a hood scoop and a 150-mph speedometer hinting a higher performance nature that other Fords didn't possess. Mechanically though, the Thunderbird could trace its roots to other mainstream Fords. Though inspired by, and positioned directly against, the Corvette, Ford billed the Thunderbird as a personal car, putting a greater emphasis on the car's comfort and convenience features rather than its inherent sportiness. The Thunderbird sold exceptionally well in its first year. In fact, the Thunderbird outsold the Corvette by more than 23-to-one for 1955 with 16,155 Thunderbirds sold against 700 Corvettes. With the Thunderbird considered a success, few changes were made to the car for 1956. To view the car in greater detail, including an HD video and 100+ HD pictures please visit www.gatewayclassiccars.com or our Denver showroom. Call 303-872-4722 for more information.

Engine: 292 V8
Transmission: 3-speed Over-Drive
Mileage: 68,313 ( undocumented )

We are happy to offer for sale at our Gateway Classic Cars Showroom in our Saint Louis this 1955 Ford Thunderbird. This first year Thunderbird is painted in a rare Goldenrod Yellow with a white soft top, white hardtop with black and white two-toned interior. Power comes from a 292-cubic inch V8, the only available engine for 1955. This one is equipped with a manual 3 speed transmission and optional over drive. The over drive is a neat unit. Once in 3rd gear and youre ready, pull the T handle beneath the dash and you're in! Other equipment includes power seats, wide white wall radial tires and a white hardtop. To add some personal touches, the previous owner decided to paint the hard-top white as opposed to keeping it body color as the factory would have painted it. The soft top is also white which would have been black fabric from the factory. These personal touches give the car a unique look and help it stand out from other '55 Thunderbirds. This is easily reversible if someone chooses. Recent maintenance includes new tires, new clutch and a rebuilt carburetor. In 1955 Ford introduced the Thunderbird to knock a dent into Corvette sales. Ford accomplished this with flying colors. 1955 Corvette production reached 700 units compared to Ford's whopping 16,155! Chevrolet needed some serious help if they were going to save the Corvette. Eventually Ford decided to lean more towards the luxury side and away from the performance side that the Corvette was pursuing. The Thunderbird has had a long and interesting run over the years. However, there's no mistaking the first run of the 1955 through 1957 T-Birds. They are the most collectible of any Thunderbird and will always be the most collectible. These hard and soft top equipped Thunderbirds are very cool, giving you the coupe and convertible feel all in one car. Call our St. Louis showroom for more information on this early T-bird at 618-271-3000 or email STL@gatewayclassiccars.com. To view HD photos and video, visit www.gatewayclassiccars.com

For sale in our Fort Lauderdale showroom is this beautiful 1956 Ford Thunderbird. The first generation of the Thunderbird was Ford’s answer to Chevrolet’s Corvette. The Tbird story started in 1953 on paper and Ford showed the first prototype in early 1954. Even though it was a rapid development Ford did a fantastic job and today the early Thunderbirds are on top of the list of almost every car enthusiast in the world. This particular 1956 Ford Thunderbird is a very nice driver. Lady owned for the past 10 years and she took good care of her “Baby Bird” Olivia. For many people the cars from the 50’s are considered a piece of art. It is a pleasure to just walk around this turquoise Thunderbird and see the many details and the great craftmanship. After the walk around, you want to get in the drivers seat and take off in it. This Tbird is powered by its 292ci V8 engine and shifted by an automatic transmission. You will have a good time driving this one around town. A major plus is that the car comes with both tops, the port hole hardtop and a soft top. To put an additional soft top in an early Thunderbird would cost you between $4000 and $5000. Folks, this one has it already folded up behind the bench seat. The continental kit and the white wall tires are a perfect fit to the Bird. This is a great buy if you are not looking to spent a fortune on one. This is a great driver that is ready for new adventures. Let it ride. To see 100+ HD pictures and a video of this 1956 Ford Thunderbird, please visit www.GatewayClassicCars.com. 1957 Ford Thunderbird

Engine: V8
Transmission: 4-Speed Automatic
Mileage: 35,539 ( actual )

Now for sale in the Gateway Classic Cars of Houston showroom is this beautiful 1957 Ford Thunderbird. This is one of the most desirable years for the Thunderbird and what a fantastic example this is. The current owner of this first-generation car bought it from the original owner in Houston all the way back in 1967 and has kept it ever since. This one has been excellently maintained over the years and still drives very well. Under the hood you will find a 312 CID V8 engine which was now standard in 1957 over the 292 CID V8 engine seen on the previous 1st generation Thunderbirds. The Thunderbird was revised for 1957 with a reshaped front bumper, a larger grille and tailfins, and larger tail lamps. The instrument panel was heavily re-styled with round gauges in a single pod, and the rear of the car was lengthened, allowing the spare tire to be positioned back in the trunk. The 312 cu in V8 became the Thunderbird's standard engine, and now produced 245 horsepower. Other, even more powerful versions of the 312 cu in V8 were available including one with two four-barrel Holley carburetors and another with a Paxton supercharger delivering 300 horsepower. Though Ford was pleased to see sales of the Thunderbird rise to a record-breaking 21,380 units for 1957, company executives felt the car could do even better, leading to a substantial redesign of the car for 1958. The exterior is finished in a gorgeous white/blue two-tone paint scheme with a matching blue two-tone interior. The cabin is kept cool with functioning air conditioning and features a manual convertible top for those summer days. Power steering and power brakes make steering and stopping this classic a breeze, even in tight parking spots. Seat belts are fitted for extra safety and the white wall tires look fantastic. 1957 Ford Thunderbird

Engine: 312 CID V8
Transmission: 4 Speed Automatic
Mileage: 5,763 ( undocumented )

Modern components with classic looks! This stunning 1957 Thunderbird, originally from California, has had plenty of work done to make this an excellent reliable cruiser. Back in 2004, the 312 cubic inch V8 was pulled and completely rebuilt using mostly stock components with the exception of ARP rod bolts added for superior strength. After it was rebuilt, the engine ran strong and smooth but was still lacking modern components to supply it with added reliability. So in 2013 when the car was brought to Colorado, the car had many upgrades added including; Holley Avenger electronic fuel injection system, MSD electronic ignition, modern power steering, power disc brakes, electric fans for optimum cooling, a 4L60E automatic transmission with overdrive, electric power windows, a retro AM/FM sound system, and many more subtle changes that makes this one of the coolest T-birds on the road today! The blue paint is in great shape and the Torque Thrust wheels really set the look off right. As you get behind the aftermarket steering wheel, you will be grateful for the smaller diameter steering wheel to let you easily enter and exit the car. Once you are sitting in the car, fire it up with the simple turn of a key and begin your drive! The car feels effortless to drive, but is not lacking in power by any means. It cruises at freeway speeds with no problem and the modern wheels reduce any body roll. If you are looking for a car that is reliable enough to go on long cruises, but do not want to settle for a more modern late model body style, this 1957 Thunderbird is an excellent option for you! This vehicle is located in our Denver showroom. You can view this 1957 Ford Thunderbird in greater detail including HD pictures and an HD video of it running and driving at Gatewayclassiccars.com. Gateway Classic Cars of Scottsdale is pleased to offer this 1957 Ford Thunderbird for sale in our Arizona showroom. Is there anything more classic than a first generation Thunderbird in white (think Suzanne Somers in "American Graffiti") with a two-tone black and white interior. Yes, I know hers was a '56, but still, a classic color for a timeless design. Under this hood of this sweet machine is a 312 CID V8, eight cylinder, engine. This motor is tied to an automatic three speed transmission that pushes a rear wheel drive line. This beautiful American icon has recently been gone over from top to bottom by an experienced Thunderbird expert. Everything works as it should, and this 'bird starts, runs, drives, steers and stops like it did when new. The stunning addition of the Kelsey-Hayes wire wheels and wide whites really set this two-seater off perfectly. This one even has both tops; the convertible top is fairly new, and a port hole top can be installed for a person that prefers this look. The owner has also kept the original steering wheel if the next owner prefers the look of the original over the custom Grant wheel. Don't miss this legendary car. For sale in our Chicago showroom is this beautiful "Blue Dream" 1957 Ford Thunderbird. With a nice Azure Blue paint laid over the body and removable hard top of this classic, one can’t help but be drawn back to a simpler time. Elvis was the most controversial musician, 12 Angry Men was in theaters with Old Yeller, and the cost of a gallon of gas was a whopping twenty-four cents. The 312 cubic inch V8 cradled snugly under hood was the top of the line engine offered, and did a fine job of making this sporty roadster scoot all over town. Backing up the Thunderbirds V8 is a healthy 2-speed automatic that shifts as smooth as when it was new. While the cool blue covering this ’57 T-bird isn’t the original color, it is very fitting on this classic Ford. The slick two-tone “Dresden Blue” interior matches very well, and adds to the very classic look on this beautiful ‘bird. This feisty Ford was treated to some serious restoration work around 2006, including the fresh paint, a brake overhaul, suspension work, a new gas tank, starter, motor mounts, wiring harnesses, the list goes on and on! What you are looking at is a new-new 1957 Ford Thunderbird! This sporty cruiser will paint a perfect smile on your face every time you fire up that Thunderbird V8. Options include: Power Seats, Wipers, Hub Caps, Vinyl Interior, Manual Top and Removable Hard Top, and While Wall Tires. Now up for sale in our Houston showroom is a classy blue metallic 1957 Ford Thunderbird. Like the Corvette, the Thunderbird had a two-seat coupe/convertible layout. Production of the Thunderbird began later in 1954 on September 9 with the car beginning sales as a 1955 model on October 22, 1954. Though sharing some design characteristics with other Fords of the time, such as single, circular headlamps and tail lamps and modest tailfins, the Thunderbird was sleeker and more athletic in shape, and had features like a faux hood scoop and a 140-mph speedometer hinting a higher performance nature that other Fords didn't possess. This Thunderbird has undergone a partial restoration, and is in very good driver-quality condition. The list of mechanicals that have been modified are: The 312 CID Ford engine was swapped out in 1974 with a 350 CID Chevrolet V8 engine to provide a little more get up and go for this classy chassis. It is paired with a 3-speed automatic transmission that was also added in 1974. The car has 2 known owners and was restored back in 1998 by the latest owner to preserve this piece if history. The exterior is in good condition and would get some heads turning driving down the road. This car has just the one hard top but is in nice condition and will keep you out of that wet weather. The interior of the car is in good original condition with a few small additions such as the engine turned aluminum dash to improve the appearance. The new cassette player hidden in the glove box with the Pioneer speaker behind the seat will make the drive much nicer while listening to your favorite songs. Some additional features include power steering, power windows, white walls, Cassette, AM/FM radio, and power seats. All in all, this adds up to a clean light blue bird that really is a joy to drive. It is hard to not look good driving a Thunderbird, especially when it is a T-Bird that looks this good. Call us today about this sweet little bit of nostalgia! 1958 Ford Thunderbird

1958 Ford Thunderbird

Engine: 352 CID V8
Transmission: 3 Speed Automatic
Mileage: 50,298 ( undocumented )

Gateway Classic Cars of Dallas is proud to offer a beautiful 1958 Ford Thunderbird. '58 was a new body style for the Thunderbird and they really changed things up. The '58 Thunderbirds as well as the '58 Lincolns were Ford's first unibody construction vehicles, which was cutting edge at the time. In addition to changing the construction, Ford also made the Thunderbird quite a bit larger than the previous generation to accommodate the addition of back seats. Though some T-Bird enthusiasts were disappointed to see them ditch the two seat layout, the market seemed to like it. Ford sold two times as many Thunderbirds in 1958 as the previous year. The convertibles, however, were a bit rare in '58, with only 2,134 being built. This particular convertible is just the right colors. It features a bright red exterior, a white convertible top, and matching red and white interior. The convertible top is power actuated and folds discretely into the rear deck. Under the hood of this beauty is a 352 CID V8 which has plenty of power to propel this rolling piece of art down the highway. Whether you're a Thunderbird enthusiast, or just want a stylish convertible to cruise around town, this '58 is a great choice. You can see this 1958 Ford Thunderbird in greater detail in our Dallas showroom or at www.GatewayClassicCars.com. Please contact 817-310-9400 or stl@gatewayclassiccars.com with inquiries.

We are excited to offer for sale in our Gateway Classic Cars Showroom in Saint Louis this Flamingo Pink 1959 Ford Thunderbird Convertible. This T-Bird underwent an extensive restoration in the mid 1990’s and still shows very well. The restoration performed was one that honored the originality of the classic Thunderbird. The paint and interior colors remain the same from factory. The exterior is painted in a great looking Flamingo Pink and the interior including the vinyl upholstery is all white. The white vinyl top provides a beautiful look while in use. The paint has aged very well and has plenty of shine left. The brightwork does show a bit of age in some areas, a little pitting can be seen here and there. The vinyl interior also shows minor wear in a few areas, along with some of the plastic pieces, but does present well. All in all, considering the age of the restoration, this is a fine example of a driver quality 59’ Thunderbird Convertible. Under the hood you will find a 352 CID 4BBL V8 engine that is mated to a Cruise-o-Matic 3-spd auto transmission. Both the engine and transmission are believed to be original to the car. According to the VIN, this 352 V8 was rated at 300 horsepower, and the car was built at the Wixon, Michigan plant. Options for this 1959 Ford Thunderbird Convertible include: Air Conditioning (inoperable), AM Radio (inoperable), Vinyl Interior, Automatic Convertible Top, Seat Belts, Power Seats, Power Steering, Wide White Walls Bias Ply Tires, and Wire Wheels.
