1969 Mercury Cougar
S O L D

1969 Mercury Cougar

Engine: 351W CID V8
Transmission: Automatic
Mileage: 59,940 ( actual )

For sale in our St. Louis showroom is a 1969 Mercury Cougar. This classic Ford is a nice departure from the more popular Mustang. The Cougar was first produced by Ford in 1967 and gained popularity in 1969. This was the only generation of Cougars to be produced with covered headlights. In 1967 and 1968, they were deployed using a vacuum canister system that opened and closed the headlamp doors. For 1969 and 1970, a redesigned vacuum system kept the doors down when a vacuum condition existed in the lines, provided by the engine when it was running. If a loss of vacuum occurred, the doors would retract up so that the headlights were visible if the system should fail. This changed improved the vehicle’s safety. Let's go back for a second, the year was 1969. Things were changing - Woodstock attracts more than 350,000 rock-n-roll fans, Chappaquiddick Affair Senator Edward Kennedy, PBS Established, The first man is landed on the moon on the Apollo 11 mission by the United States and Neil Armstrong and Edwin 'Buzz' Aldrin became the first humans to set foot on the Moon, and this Cougar was being purchased. Those were the times and driving this classic take you right back! Options include: AC(cool not cold), AM/FM/Cassette, power steering, power brakes, vinyl interior, vinyl hardtop, and Grand AM Radial GT tires. This wonderful car is a 2-owner and recent upgrades includes: New vinyl top, new paint job, rebuilt engine and more. Having only 59,940 actual miles, this Cougar is a wise investment and piece of Americana. Classic cars are historically better investments than stocks and bonds. Also, you cannot take your stock portfolio for a spin on sunny days! The styling of this Cougar is timeless. With its shaving razor grill, car enthusiasts will know exactly what is coming their way. Engine: 390 CID Bored .030
Transmission: Cruise-O-Matic
Mileage: 109,932 ( undocumented )

For sale in our St. Louis Showroom is a stainless steel over red 1963 Ford Thunderbird. The 390 CID V8 engine was bored 0.030 over and professionally rebuilt with Speed-Pro pistons/rings, King/Clevite bearings, ARP fasteners, Edelbrock Performer RPM intake and 750 CFM carburetor, Summit gold street-race oil pan, heads from a c4ae-g, and a c4ae-b (427) crank. All these additions and work have combined for an estimated 375 horsepower and 430 lb-ft torque! The professionally built Cruise-O-Matic automatic transmission transfers the power to the Ford 9” rear end with 3.50 gears. This Thunderbird was built to participate on the Pro Touring circuit. On top of all the engine and transmission work, the brakes and suspension received a thorough look through. The top half of the car is wrapped in a custom vinyl wrap that appears like stainless steel, while the lower half is painted red, which combines for an interesting and unique look. The red vinyl interior is in good condition, free from major signs of wear. A neat feature to these Thunderbirds is the swing away steering wheel. Simply push the shifter to the right, slightly passed the park position, and the entire steering column will swing to the right, creating more room for the driver to exit the car. The odometer reads 109,932, while the actual mileage is unknown, about 5,500 miles have been put on the car since the recent restoration and engine work were complete. Options for this 1963 Ford Thunderbird include: Air Conditioning, AM Radio, Vinyl Interior, Seat Belts, Power Steering, Power Brakes, Swing-Away Steering Wheel, Radial Tires, and Aluminum/Alloy Wheels. 1972 Chevrolet Chevelle

Engine: 454 CID
Transmission: TH-350 Automatic
Mileage: 97,389 ( undocumented )

For sale in our Saint Louis Showroom is this 1972 SS Clone Chevrolet Chevelle. The restoration work includes replaced Quarter Panels, Front Fenders, Outside Door Handles, Dash Padding, Vintage A/C and Heat added, A/C Vents, new Carburetor, new Flowmaster Exhaust with Chrome Tips, Alternator, Guages, Tackometer, 10 Bolt Posi-traction, Stock SS Wheels, and Spare Tire Covers. Altogether, there has been a great investment in time and detail to make this classic girl a thing of beauty. In 1964 the Chevelle was originally Chevrolet's response to the demand for the smaller-sized car market, which had been successfully tapped into by American Motor's Rambler. Riding on a 115-inch wheelbase, the Chevelle was based on a new A platform design, and became American's second best-selling car of its time. The 1972 Chevelles featured single-unit parking/side marker lights on their front fenders, outside of a revised twin-bar grille. Powered by a smooth running 454 CID and TH 350, this 1972 Chevrolet Chevelle is a great classic to invest in as something to show off, as well as to use as your frequent driver. If someone pulls up next to your and revs up their engine to taunt you into a drag race, just lock in your seat-belt, put out your cigarette, rev your 454 back at them, and take your time driving home, because speed thrills, but kills. Nearly three decades are their sister company, Chevrolet, started producing the El Camino, GMC came out with a rear-wheel-drive coupe utility/pick up called the Sprint, which in 1978 was renamed Caballero for the 1978. 1987 was the final production year of the Caballero. There are a tremendous number of things to value about his 1984 GMC Caballero Amarillo, including the original miles, the cleanliness and very well maintained condition of the interior, and the surprisingly great condition of the exterior paint. It's like someone jumped into their time machine and went back to 1986 and found this Caballero on a GMC used car lot and brought it back to present day. 1955 Chevrolet Pickup
S O L D

1955 Chevrolet Pickup

Engine: 235 Inline 6
Transmission: 3 Speed Manual
Mileage: 339 ( since rebuilt )

For sale at Gateway Classic Cars in our St. Louis showroom is an early series 1 1955 Chevrolet Pick Up. This one has received an extremely detailed restoration and is probably better than new. It also benefits from an upgraded 12 volt system that also includes a 12 volt starter and electric windshield wiper replacing the old and unreliable vacuum operated wiper. Painted green with black running boards, wide white walls, driver’s side side mounted spare and an Oak bed paired with a beautiful Parchment interior. The interior is just as easy on the yes as is the rest of the truck. The gauges were restored and look new, the two tone bench seat looks great as do all of the knobs and cranks. You'll also notice seat belts and a heat controller for those chilly Autumn drives. During the restoration, all of the rubber seals and window fuzzies were replaced including the often overlooked vent window seals. Helping protect the exterior are clear rubber covers for the tailgate's chains and a rubber mat to protect the beautiful Oak bed with stainless inserts. Open the hood and the detail continues. All new wiring and proper detail. You can tell that the restorer took their time and focused on detail and accuracy. The Thrift Master 235 Inline 6 purrs like a kitten and the 3 speed column shift is easy to operate. Both are original to the truck, have been rebuilt during the restoration and have covered 336 miles since the rebuild. The undercarriage will not disappoint as it is also as detailed as the rest of this impressive 3100. The Series One represent the early 1955s that share the previous body style found on earlier Chevy Pick Ups. Mid year 1955 (Series 2) received the updated front end among other changes. The Series 1 seem to be the most sought after model considering they are the end of a long run of a successful generation of truck. For more information on this top notch restoration, call 618-271-3000 or swing by our St. Louis showroom. To view 100+ HD photos and video, visit www.gatewayclassiccars.com.
