Gateway Classic Cars Versus Auctions
There are advantages and disadvantages, going the auction route:
Advantages of auctions:
You get to participate in an exciting event.
You get to see new products and vendors.
You have a limited number of buyers to compete against, giving you a chance to pick up a deal.
Disadvantages of auctions:
You have to pay to be a bidder.
You have ring men and women goading you to bid higher than what you want to pay.
You cannot test drive or inspect the vehicle before the bidding starts.
You are charged a buyer's fee which makes your final cost higher than your bid price.
You are responsible for getting the car out of the arena and shipped immediately after the event is over. Usually, the transporters there will charge a premium for transportation, knowing your options are limited.
