The Impala was introduced by Chevrolet in 1958 as the top of the line in the Bel Air hardtop and convertible series. The wheelbase is 5 inches longer vs. lower priced models, although the overall length is identical. Significant redesigns in 1959 and 1961 saw the Impala become its own separate series. The 1962 model featured new “C” pillar styling with wraparound rear window. Engine choices were headlined by the massive 409 (7.0L) V8 Rated at 380hp. The Beach Boys produced a hit single “409” referring to this Chevrolet. Super Sport (SS) models featured 409 power and additional trim details designed to stand out from the crowd. The beautiful frame-off restored, Torch Red 1962 Impala SS includes an upgraded Turbo 400 transmission and 3:55 open rear end. The engine compartment gleams and is hoist to a custom aluminum radiator. Dual power master cylinder and electric cooling fan. The owner states 300 miles since both engine and transmission rebuild. The interior of this show ready vehicle is done in cream tan and the whole package is set off nicely with California DOT rated one-piece chrome bumpers and AMR 17” wheels. Additional features include power brakes, power steering and AM radio. This red machine is ready to cruise and is located at our Milwaukee showroom.
