For sale in our St. Louis showroom is a 1965 Dodge Coronet 500 2 Door Hardtop. This sleeper Coronet was born with a 426 Wedge, unfortunately that engine blew up in 1967, and was replaced with a new 440 big block in 1967. The exterior is finished in a beautiful caramel color with a slight metallic flake and a painted white roof. The paint was applied in 2012 and looks fantastic. The white vinyl interior matches the theme of the car perfectly, and also looks excellent. The 440 CID V8 currently in the car was installed new in 1967, believed to be a warranty replacement at the time. A 727 Torqueflite automatic transmission transfers the power from the 440 to the 8 3/4 rear end which houses 4.10 gears. New springs and torsion bars were added to the Coronet in 2015. This Coronet 500 features American Racing aluminum/alloy TorqueThrust wheels that provide an awesome looks and aggressive stance. The odometer reads 82,048, which is believed to be the actual mileage on the car. Options for this 1965 Dodge Coronet 500 include: AM Radio (inoperable), Vinyl Interior, Seat Belts, American Racing Aluminum/Alloy Wheels, and Radial Tires. The Coronet was car produced by Dodge from 1949 to 1959 and again from 1965 to 1976, and spanned 7 generation. During its production, the Coronet wore many hats, initially it was full-size car in the 50's, then it was an intermediate-sized model, and it was even offered as a station wagon. In its comeback year of 1965 it was the most popular car sold by Dodge with over 209,000 units sold. The trim levels in 1965 were the base Coronet, including a Deluxe version, the Coronet 440, and the Coronet 500. The Coronet 500 was the premium, or top of the line as far as Coronets were concerned. Just over 33,000 Coronet 500's were sold, and they featured 273 CID V8 base engine, bucket seats, padded dash, chrome console, and exterior trim and badging. Engine options included a 225 CID slant six cylinder, 273 CID V8, 318 CID V8, 361 CID V8, 383 CID V8, and the 426 CID V8 in multiple horsepower options. This particular 65' Coronet 500 is ready to roll into your local cruise or show and turn some heads.
