Gateway Classic Cars of Louisville is proud to present this 1978 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am! General Motors had a successful launch of the Chevrolet Camaro and were itching to get more of the pony car market. A few months after the Camaro debuted Pontiac announced the Firebird! Starting in 1967 along with its cousin from Chevy the duo worked hard to push back against the success of the Mustang by Ford Motor Company. Of all the cars involved in the Pony Car Wars of the late 60s those were the main three. For 35 years the Firebird would grace the roads of America until its heart-breaking end in 2002. Now is your chance to have a slice of American History! Here is a 1978 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am and in its most noted color combination. Black with gold trim, gold wheels and the renowned large Firebird emblazoned on the hood for all to see! Well, you will see it while she is resting because you'll only see taillights when she is running! Walking around this icon you can't wait to get behind the wheel. While the paint has a little age on it, it still presents well. Interior is in nice shape as well, you'll love the feel of the seats. Under the hood you'll find powering this Firebird is the engine you want, the Pontiac 400ci V8! The original numbers matching one from the factory! Not good with a clutch, no problem this ride is equipped with an automatic transmission. Current owner has had the car for nearly 14 years and believed to only have had 3 owners! Only item listed as not working that we are aware of is the horn. Whether you want to add to your collection, start one or just have an awesome car to cruise in, this Firebird will have you grinning from ear to ear. Options on this Firebird are: A/C, Power Steering, Power Brakes, Power Windows, AM/FM Radio, alloy wheels, and radial tires. This 1978 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am is is offered by our Louisville Showroom and can be seen in greater detail including 100+ HD pictures and an HD video at For additional information please call our knowledgeable staff at (812) 294-1555 or email us at .
