The internals include Keith Black pistons rated at 11.5:1 compression ratio, and Corbajet heads with stainless steel valves all of which complements the demands of the Lunati split duration hydraulic flat tappet camshaft sporting a lift of .580” on both intake and exhaust and duration of 274 degrees on the intake and 284 degrees on exhaust. What does all this mean? An aggressive power plant putting down true muscle car horsepower and torque through a C6 automatic transmission back to a 9” rear end sporting a 3:23 gear ratio.
The Mach 1 was manufactured by Ford as a performance -oriented option model. The 1971-1973 Mach I is considered the first- generation facelift model. Standard features on the 1971 Mach 1 included a sports roof, flat black spoiler, honeycomb grille w/ sport lamps, Mach 1 black stripe pkg, color keyed sport mirrors, honeycomb taillight panel, unique pop open gas cap, and heavy duty springs and shocks.
