Gateway Classic Cars of Indianapolis is proud to feature this 1963 Volkswagen Beetle! Sometimes in the automotive industry you'll hear the word “Survivor", this 1963 Beetle is the very definition of that word. Having been featured in the 2021 issue of “Volks America" this car is a Volkswagen Purists dream! The current owner found this Beetle completely bone-stock, with its original “Beryl Green" paint, sitting in Sacramento, CA in the presence of its original owner, who was then was ready to let the car go to a new home.
Once the car made it home with the new owner, they had the idea to build a hotrod stance and give it an all-updated brake system to ensure it was safe to drive. All the original components were kept so that anyone could take it back to being its original self. But to ensure the Beetle could stop safely, all linings were replaced with new shoes, as well as new bearings, wheel cylinders, and a master cylinder. A pair of 2.5-inch drop spindles from SoCal Imports were installed along with a 2-inch narrowed adjustable beam with tie rods from CB Performance for the front suspension. The back was lowered one notch for the perfect hotrod stance. It does come with the original matching “Beryl Green" L478 paint wheels; however, the car was given an upgrade to the current 3.5 wide ERCO 15-inch wheels in the front and 6-inch wide ERCOs in the back.
The 1200cc motor was rebuilt and given a (Big Bore Kit) and still sports the original engine and transmission. The interior in the car was in great condition, including steering wheel, shift boot, seat covers, headliner, door panels floor mats, and kick panels - which were all in its original stock Olive Green color.
The stereo system was replaced with an Alpine deck, a single Memphis 10-inch sub, two Memphis 6x9 speakers in a box covered with the same green square weave carpet, and a 500-watt amp with new audio.
There have been a lot of new parts to make this car viable for everyday use. Such as New Window Seals, Door Seals, Square Weave Carpet, Tires + Wheels, Clutch.
The owner did keep all the original equipment, provided the new owner ever wants to put it back to stock. This is one rare Beetle with just a tad over 82,000 miles on the car. It truly was a Volkswagen barn find that is ready to be enjoyed by the next Volkswagen Beetle Enthusiast!
