Gateway Classic Cars of Orlando is proud to present this rare sight to see a 1980 Mercury Cougar XR7. The Mercury Cougar underwent an extensive redesign this year, shifting away from the Torino/LTD II chassis towards the smaller Ford Fox platform, sharing a 108-inch wheelbase and body panels with the redesigned Thunderbird. In another change, only the Cougar XR7 personal luxury coupe was carried over from 1979, temporarily marking the discontinuation of a full range of Cougar body styles. This Cougar has a 5.0-liter V8 with a 4-speed automatic. The carburetor has been rebuilt. It is newly painted and has a beautiful shine. The landau roof that is a significant contrast to the white paint. The vinyl roof is in great shape. This interior is as you can find in 1980 with a red vinyl interior. The odometer reads 57,294 which is actual mileage. The A/C works like a new car. This is a great quality example of a 1980 Mercury Cougar XR7 and your garage would be all the better to have it. The features include AC, AM/FM Radio, Cruise Control, Manual Sunroof, Lumbar Support, Tilt Wheel, Seat Belts, Vinyl Interior, Radial Tires, Power Brakes, Power Steering and Aluminum Alloy Wheels. For sale in our Nashville, TN showroom is this Kustom 1951 Mercury Convertible. In 1951, George Barris purchased a then brand-new Mercury Coupe for himself, it didn’t take long, and he had fully customized it, a passerby liked it so much that he ordered a customized Mercury for himself. This car became known as the Hirohata Merc, after its new owner, and would go on to be one of the most famous customized cars of the decade, thanks in part to Barris’ restyling and through traveling the county with GM’s Motorama auto show. This is how the 1949-1951 Mercury became a kustom car icon and now one of the most popular cars to turn into a full kustom. This kustom 1951 Mercury comes to us as a beautiful fair weather roadster, luckily the convertible top frame is intact and is ready for a soft top of your choice should you want the option. Sporting a crate 350 CID small block chevy backed by a 700R4 automatic transmission, this sled is ready for a long cruise up the costal highway or down Whittier Blvd. on a Saturday night.
