1972 Ed Roth Trike
Ed Big Daddy Roth American Beetle Custom Trike
Powered by a VW 1600CC engine with an Auto Transaxle Automatic transmission. Purple exterior. Black interior.
If the name rings a bell, it's most commonly because of his notorious cartoon character Rat Fink. He is also well known for his custom car and bike builds. Speaking of bikes, this was modeled after the first known VW powered Trike built by Ed back in the early 70's. This is reported to be built by Ed 'Big Daddy' Roth himself, the current owner purchased this from the original owner (his brother) 17 years ago. This Trike is powered by a 1600cc Volkswagen flat four with an automatic transaxle for ergonomic cruising. That's just what you need once you park your keister down into the driver's seat. This particular Trike is in, what we like to call, survivor condition, meaning as much of it that could be kept original, was. When the original gas tank began to fail, a 2 gallon stainless replacement was mounted by the foot pegs. When the front brake calipers seized up, they were removed. The House of Kolor blue...
