The Cadillac El Dorado was first manufactured in the 1950-s and stopped around the 2002-s. The name El Dorado in Spanish translates to -The Glided One-, which is a very cool fact, since this thing rides like boat, smooth and comfortable. It was also named -The Last American Convertible- which really wasn-t but at that time Cadillac didn-t have any plans for anymore convertibles. One of the main things that stand out is the very long front end but believe it or not, it wasn-t one of the longest cars Cadillac had. In fact the El Dorado was 6 inches shorter than a contemporary full-sized Cadillac. Under the hood of this luxurious Cadillac is a 500 CID V8 8. 2L,with only 40,893 original miles! This engine is pulling with 190 HP from factory. Backing this 500 is a -425 series- Turbo Hydra-Matic transmission. The El Dorado came pretty much fully loaded with power brakes with self adjusting feature, power steering, power windows, power locks, power...

This was a very active year in the world because the Olympic Games were held in Innsbruck, Austria (winter) and Montreal, Canada (summer), America celebrated her 200th birthday, Jimmy Carter was elected president, and Cadillac announced that the following year, all of their cars would be downsized. If you wanted a real full-sized luxury car with a 500 cubic inch engine (with front wheel drive), seating that resembled the finest sofa of the day, and a trunk big enough to smuggle an entire baseball team into a drive-in movie, 35,184 buyers snapped up these coupes before the model year ended. An additional 14,000 convertibles were also sold that year. This coupe is finished in its original hue of Amberlite Firemist along with a tan half-vinyl top that matches the still soft and oh-so-comfortable leather interior. The chrome and glass still show exceptionally well. This car is from an era in automotive history that we'll never see again. Highly optioned with everything working means this Caddy...

This Eldorado Biarritz has been well taken care of as you can see from the pictures. It has an actual mileage of 14,489 with its 4. 1L V8 and 4-speed overdrive automatic transmission. From what we know on the history of the Cadillac, it looks to have been with a total of 3 families. It has driven on the country road of New York, to the Bayous of Louisiana. It is very appealing to the eye with its shimmering Firemist Red exterior, down to the White Cadillac Eldorado pillows that come with the car. This car also has a fully operational White convertible power top for those beautiful days cruising around town. This Caddy also has the classic 15' wire chrome wheels with White Wall Radial tires. The White Wall Radial tires have about 80 miles on them, needless to say they are ready to feel the road again. This Cadillac is also equipped with a remote trunk release, and factory anti-theft alarm.

The 1976 model was part of he ninth generation for Cadillac Eldorado's, produced from 1971-1978. For 1975, the Eldorado was given rectangular headlamps, a new egg crate grille, four wheel openings sans fender skirts and sharper, crisper lines resulting in a sleeker appearance appearance reminiscent of 1967-70 models. These styling cues carried over for the '76 model year but changed slightly with a new grill with the word Cadillac written in Script on the driver's side top corner. The 1976 Eldorado was a very successful car to sell, approximately 14000 were sold because at the time GM claimed they would no longer be producing convertibles. That was true the next 8 years.

There were exceptions, however and this car is one of those exceptions. American Sunroof Company (ASC), a company which has converted over 1,000,000 cars, has had official relationships with many car companies. ASC's products are of such high quality that many manufacturers retain them to create convertibles. The volume of convertible sales is low enough that these manufacturers can't justify the cost of tooling up their own factories to make convertibles in-house like they used to. General Motors sold Cadillac El Dorado Convertibles from ASC in the 1984 and 1985 model years, which were sold in Cadillac dealerships. In this case, it was handled in two different ways.
