Ford produced the Customline model from 1952 to 1956, with the 2 door Ranch Wagon making its debut in 1954. Ford also made some waves in 1954 when they became the only automaker to offer both a modern overhead valve straight six and a new overhead valve V8 engine in their cars. This new overhead valve V8 replaced the infamous flathead V8 design that dated back to 1932. This new V8 was dubbed the 'Y-Block,' because its deep skirt that extending below the crankshaft giving it the appearance of a Y in a cross section. This 239 CID V8 came in at 7. 2 to 1 compression and a Holley 2-Barrel carburetor sitting on top making 130 horsepower and 214 ft. /lbs. of torque.

This four door Customline has a few tasteful upgrades. First is a 292 V8 out of a 1960 Thunderbird that is replacing the original 239 cubic inch V8. Giving the 292 additional power is a four barrel carburetor and a Mallory distributor. Glass pack mufflers give this car just the right sound. Not what you would expect from a stock appearing four door. Shifting gears is done through a 3-speed manual on the column optioned with a manual overdrive that is actuated via a 'T' handle under the dash.
