1956 Lincoln Continental

View Description

The Continental Mark II is an ultra-luxury coup that was sold by the Continental Division of Ford for the 1956 and 1957 model years. The only product line ever marketed by Continental during its existence, the Mark II served as the worldwide flagship vehicle of Ford Motor Company. Back in it's day this was marketed up against the Rolls Royce Silver Cloud, which is what you do with the most expensive American Produced Automobile of the time. As with the high production cost, the buyer ends up winning because Ford was losing thousands of dollars on each car produced. This Mark II came in as part of a collection that we were able to hand pick for consignment. Powering this classic is a 368 cubic inch 'Y-Block' V8 that is mated to a 3 Speed, Turbo Drive automatic transmission. Features include A/C, AM/FM/Radio, Leather Interior, Power Brakes, Power Locks, Power Steering, Power Windows, Radial Tires...

1956 Lincoln Continental

View Description

This stunning black beauty has undergone a full frame-on restoration in 2008 and is truly a sight to see.

During restoration, the entire bottom of the car sand blasted and repainted to correct colors. All the body panels were removed and repainted, and the doors were completely taken apart and rebuilt before being re-installed on the car and everything lines up nice and straight as if it were brand new.

The all new leather interior and carpet accents nicely against the black exterior paint and chrome that shine brilliantly in the sun. It even has that new-car smell! All new suspension was added giving this classic MK II a nice comfortable ride that is extremely straight and stable. No expense was spared with upgrades to include an all-new brake system including brake booster & master cylinder, new steering box, new fuel pump, new motor mounts, new stabilizer rubber bushings, new electronic ignition conversion kit, new exhaust system, electronic wiper motor conversion, and a new battery.

1956 Lincoln Continental

View Description

Competing with the other luxury cars at the time including GM-s Cadillac and Chrysler-s Imperial brand, the new Continental was not intended to be the largest nor the most powerful automobile; rather, the most luxurious and elegant American car available, designed to recapture the spirit of the great classics of the prewar period. What emerged was something quite unlike other American cars of the period. While other makes experimented with flamboyant chrome-laden styling, the Continental Mark II was almost European in its simplicity of line and understated grace. The 1956 Lincoln Continental is a great example of these cars from the 50-s. Restored by the previous owner this car was then put into storage for approximately 20 years. The current owner has owned for approximately 5-6 years and has only had to do general maintenance to this beautiful piece of history. Looking under the hood of this stylish luxury car, you will see the 368 CID V-8 engine. The odometer only shows a...

1956 Lincoln Continental

View Description

During the 1950s, the most exciting and innovative decade in automotive history, Ford Motor Company set out to prove that it could produce a car that would rank among the best in the world. The result was the Continental Mark II. The legendary Continental Mark II was originally a standalone brand before being absorbed under the Lincoln marquee. Even at a list price of almost $10,000, Ford is believed to have lost money on each sale, but produced the car as a status symbol. The Continental Mark II was designed and built to rival the best cars European automakers had to offer. With the style and panache associated with the classics of the '20s and '30s, Mark IIs wore clean, uncluttered styling that looks as if it were designed a decade later. Loaded with features typically available only as options on high-end cars, the Mark II came standard with power seats, power windows, power brakes, and power steering. In fact, the only option available on a Mark II was air conditioning and this one...
